NaPoWriMo - 3. Days 8 to 14

These are how I feel.

Day 8 Prompt: Write about flowers

When you’re gone

I’ll plant black roses

To remember the pain

When you’re gone

I’ll grow red roses

To remember the love

When you’re gone

Pink roses

To remember you

Day 9: Today, I challenge you to write a poem that includes a line that you’re afraid to write. This might be because it expresses something very personal that makes you uncomfortable

I’m afraid one day I’ll lose you

Afraid one day you’ll go

After you find another boy

One who’s smarter, brighter, younger

I don’t come with much but baggage

All I can offer, is me

Day 10 –

Like

Relief washes my soul clean

Like rain on my windows

Calm gentles my breaking heart

Like a mother’s cooling touch

Love buoys my spirit

Like a dog free of his leash

You fill me heart and soul

Like only you can

Day 11

It’s Okay to Go

I listen to you labored breathing

Watch you fight to swallow

You loved me when no other did

In self-pity I’ve no right to wallow

I cry selfish tears I cannot help

As you fade more each day

I love you my dear sweet friend

It’s okay to slip away

Live each day in joyous grace

That’s what you’ve given me

To you there is only now

In your eyes the world is beauty

I dread the day I know is coming

I guess by now you know

Ever you’ll be part of me

It’s okay for you to go

Day 12

I lay and look at the floating clouds, whiter than any snow

And i dream of you holding me, oh you love me, yes I know

As I walk along in the crowd never am I alone

The rain clouds of my life now gone, the sun is lemon yellow

Day 13

My mother came to visit

Silently in a dream

She came to offer comfort

It was a sad time for me

Sometimes i want her back

So young was she taken

She fought very hard

But still the cancer beat her

I think about the message

Hidden in her smile

I know she was telling me

For all there is a season.

Day 14

You sit in my sad darkened soul

The once bright sweet light of my life

My self-pity drained good from you

How can we make it right again?

So many chances you gave me

I took them and laughed in your face

Knowing you’d never run from us

Was surprised when you turned away

Too late as I fell to my knees

Begging you to reconsider

Tears of pity and sadness fell

Wetting the dust of our dead love

I see me now in the mirror

Alone, no one nearby my side

Every lonely footstep pulls me

So much farther away from you

:hug::hug: You brought tears to my eyes. These are very poignant and, at times, heart-breaking. Well done. Here's another

There's a lot of pain in this collection, Tim. But it's beautifully and memorably expressed.

Hey tim
You've done it again!
Reading your finished works, it all seems so effortless as they flow so smoothly, but I know it is not. I truly appreciate the stories you tell in few carefully chosen words.
As always, nicely done. :)

Number 14 brought tears to my eyes. It made me so very sad. I very much identify with number 9. Day 12 reminded me of sky watching. And your number 13 was so poignant and true...dreams do convey truth. Great poems, all of them! Thank you for sharing them with us!

There's so much pain here in some of these. These are especially trying days, too. Just try to remember that lemon yellow sun. It shines for you.

Each of these touched my heart for different reasons. I think, though, that the one that spoke to me the loudest was "It's ok to go" because I went through this experience such a short time ago... thinking of it is bringing tears to my eyes even now. Truly beautiful words, tim. Thank you for sharing these

I so hope writing some of these helped you to cope with your pain and help you to remember happy times. Beautifully written, as always.

All of these poems evoked pain, suffering, and loss.

It's Ok to Go made me cry each time I read it. I usually read your poems more than once because the majority of them are pretty emotional.
