Sub-genres: Drama, General Romance
CC Banner.jpg

After a huge row between his twin brother and their father, Russell’s mother sends him off to stay with her cousin in Europe, with no explanation. Reluctantly, the shy nineteen-year-old faces the issues which have kept him in his brother’s shadow for the past five years. It’s a twisted path of denial, anguish and unexpected joy, as Russell struggles to deal with long buried emotions and hopes.

The main part of this story takes place in Denmark (Europe). It doesn't matter if you're not familiar with Denmark beforehand, you will be by the time you've read the story.
AC Benus has kindly provided a story forum where you can see more about the places mentioned in the story, and discuss the story themes and characters.

The original version of the first chapter was written as an Earth Day contest entry on LitE. I'm flattered @Defiance19 says my twins brought her to GA. :*)
@LitLover made a lovely story banner for Clueless Camping. It can be seen on my profile.

I must say that I truly hate 'devirginizing' myself in the CC reviews at this point. So much of what I have enjoyed has been rehashed already. Anyway... I find the whole premise perfectly believable and fascinating. Russell is impossible not to like. It has been a pleasure watching him bloom and grow out of the shadow of his twin. The father is an absolute shit, but where would good stories be without a requisite villain or two? The more evil and twisted the better generally speaking, but keep him from seriously damaging our boys please. :)

Aaaw thanks, I'm glad you took the plunge. :D

I'm thrilled you've enjoyed the story so far, and I'm finally getting started on a new chapter. I keep being distracted by this guy Rob shouting in my ear, and Batman (aka Gary aka Headstall) pouring out chapters to edit, and various other happenings

Yeah, this story wouldn't exist without the villain, so you're quite right. I'll do my best to make you hate him without hating me for damaging the twins. Fortunately they have a couple of clever protectors hovering over them.

Wow! I just finished reading chapter 15 and decided to read the reviews. It's like reading a whole 'nother story! There are layers that other people noticed that I was completely oblivious to.

Weirdly, as I was reading one of the reviews, I was reminded of my own childhood behavior. My younger brother is just short of two years younger than I am, but I tended to hide in his shadow. He was the one who made friends that I hung around with also. Of course, our personalities are very different. Where he is outgoing and needs to be surrounded by other people, I am much happier on my own. If I'm at a party or gathering (outside of family), I can be found observing from the side, I hate being the center of attention.

Must be why I identified with Russell so quickly. (I've been reading the story for quite a while, but never got around to registering or reading reviews.) I really like the long chapters. I'd prefer to get them more frequently, but I'll take the compromise of having to wait longer.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review and letting me know how you feel about the story. Please visit the story forum too, and feel free to ask questions and leave comments there too.

You're not the only one to have reviews adding another layer or revealing things you haven't thought about. It happens to me too, both with my own and other stories. It's awesome.

Like you I hate being the center of attention. I'm glad you can identify with Russ although I hope you don't have his less than happy experiences and issues. But he's slowly emerging from his shell.

I guess the change in Status is only you being realistic, but it makes me sad anyway.

Yeah, I hope so too. I have every intention of getting back to the twins, but I think I need to focus on my other long story sitting unfinished. So for any potential new readers it's better to be honest about the status of this story. Thanks for caring, drought.
