Weekly Wrap Up (Mar. 23 - Mar. 59)

THEY LIED :o :o

2 - 4 cm my derriere!!! (Don't see that word used much anymore)

I wake up and have to leave the house to find about 10" of the white stuff fell overnight. Thinking I had a lot of time to get to my first appointment ;) I didn't really get up early enough to go 4X4ing through the snow and slush that covered the roads. No plows, no sanding, it is the joy of living in Calgary at the end of March and through April. It is warm enough that most of the snow melts within 24 hours or so on the road. They have already starting street sweeping the sand and gravel up after the winter, so they don't want to put down more. :(

So said appointment :P ...

Last year a bought a new car, was supposed to be my final big purchase before I eased off into the sunset  Then I got a phone call from the dealer on Thursday and they were offering a deal that I could not refuse. A brand new 2025 model for less than what I paid last year, and they were paying off my vehicle last year as they have no used car inventory. So went in and check out the vehicle and the upgrades from a year ago was quite a bit.

So last year I told everyone I bought a new vehicle because I didn't want to do the spring cleaning. well looks like I didn't want to do it again :gikkle: Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a rich man. Just I happened to be in the right place in the right time. So I shall be working to at least the age of 80 .

Maybe this summer I will drive down and visit Krista in my new car :P

Now for the big news of the week:

Get your 2025 Poetry Anthology entries in for Diversity!! Please load everything up by the EOD on Sunday, March 30th. Today! Then, April is Poetry Month. So let's see how you all will be celebrating it!! More info below.

Now I usually ponder a question for you active Weekly Wrap Up readers, to ponder yourselves. If you can pick one genre, only one, what would you say is your favourite one? Also why? Nice and simple  !

Onto the Wrap Up of the weeks staff and volunteer blogs.

Monday, it was??? What? Did someone forget to post a blog ?:o Oh wait, it seems on months that we have more weeks than blogs, we miss a Monday. Looks like last week was one of those weeks.

Tuesday we kicked off the week with Myr diving deep down into the Fantasy genre:

Then on Thursday, in case you missed it, it was the big reveal in the Author Guess Who? Did you guess right?

Wow, I had an easy week :P Finally on Friday, we had the Prompt Team introduce a new Author ;) that tackled the new Prompts from the week before:

It was a mixed bag of Words of the Day for me this week:

deluge, tepid, aquiline, slovenly, affect, effect, recrimination

For you, Steve, March is going out like a Lion.  So, just remember, April will come in like a Lamb - so maybe no April snow showers.  However, if there are, look at the bright side - April snow showers bring mid-May flowers - and lots of pollen.

Ah, you didn't clarify your question.  Did you mean our favorite genre as an author or as a reader?  For me, they differ.  As an author, I prefer writing general fantasy stories with a focus on Halloween or Christmas.  Even the stories that aren't necessarily Halloween or Christmas stories, there are generally long chapters when it comes to Halloween and Christmas.

As a reader, however, I tend to favor  high/epic fantasies, like the Lord of the Rings series and others, or dragon fantasies, like the Dragon Riders of Pern series.

I hope that answers your question!
