Site Administrator Graeme Posted September 11, 2009 Site Administrator Posted September 11, 2009 I Watch Him Constantly by Kanaye A boy finally gets up the courage to confess to the one he watches. :nuke: :nuke: Spoilers Below!!! :nuke: :nuke:
Site Administrator Graeme Posted September 14, 2009 Author Site Administrator Posted September 14, 2009 The ending of the poem took me by surprised, but it's a theme I've seen before. The first person we all come out to is ourself. The first person who have to love is ourself, but sometimes that can be difficult. Knowing the ending, I went back and read the poem again and saw how much the narrator had this idealised view of what they should be like. Would they ever achieve that ideal? I doubt it, but I hope they find a happy medium where they can accept the flaws in the one they love Thanks, Kanaye! I loved it! 1
Nephylim Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 A great surprise. Very Narcissus. I hope he doesn't waste away staring at the boy in the mirror when there are so many waiting for a real embrace. 1
Dolores Esteban Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Yes, a great surprise. I liked your poem
C James Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 The ending definitely took me by surprise, but it fit so well, and a re-read showed it clearly. Well done. Thank you Kanaye. 1
Kanaye Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Thank you guys. Im glad you all like it. 1
Zeoanne Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 I could've sworn it was a spirit in love with him, an angel of sorts but... WOW!! Himself? That was an awesome story Kanaye!!
Ieshwar Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 I really liked this poem. I like such poems. After reading it completely, I went back to it to see what the poet really wanted to convey. And the thing is that I personally tend to look at myself a lot in the mirror. Kinda narcissist. I just can
phana14 Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 I Watch Him Constantly by Kanaye A boy finally gets up the courage to confess to the one he watches. WOW!! What a GORGEOUS suprise! Thank you. Spoilers Below!!!
David McLeod Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 And, at a deeper level (sorry to burst your bubbles), the narrator is still waiting and watching...not for him/herself, but for the one he/she has been watching. I saw the denoument not as the person looking for him/her self, but as the person still looking for the ideal, and ... for the moment, at least ... accepting him/herself as all that was in reach. That, I think, makes it a great sadness.
cognac69 Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 It probably represents something different to each reader, to me it represents the time when we take the first step in self acceptance and self love. Without that we can not expect others to accept and love us. Very nicely written.
