Mark Arbour Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 I want to add my kudos for this chapter as well. It 'rang true' for a couple who has been together long enough to really 'get' each other at deeper levels. As a writer, one of the hardest things to do is to give your characters a true voice- making what they say "sound' genuine and real- for that character. That really came through loud and clear in this chapter. Regardless of the debates over who's right and wrong and who screwed over whom and who should be together or not, this style of writing is what sets apart the 'great' from the unwashed masses. Mr. Arbour, you are very very clean. Congratulations and I hope your muse remains strong as you solider on with this very riveting tale. Good hygiene is very important.
Bob1010 Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I really think that this is some of the best writing that you have done, Mark. The twists and turns of the story as well as the sex have real integrity. The characters are consistent and believable with good depth. The way that you handled the Brad and Matt thing and this confrontation and sort of reconciliation with Brad and Robbie was great. You have obviously spent a great deal of time and thought in putting this all down in writing. I sometimes wonder if you really have an offline life. This is really like writing a novel with various plots and subplots involving many different characters and issues. I was saying to Lew this afternoon that we are wondering when we are going to get out next fix of Granger. We really find him to be a very attractive and interesting Character. Then I get here and see that we aren't the only ones who are thinking along the same lines. I can understand that it may be really difficult to be writing two story lines with a significant number of characters and keep it all straight. (in a manner of speaking) And you are producing chapters at a prodigious rate. I know of no other writer on the Net that begins to match you with quality and rate of production. You da Mahn.:king:
Hermetically Sealed Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Nice chapter. :3 Why do I see Carson pulling a Deke? I must also say, that hearing how Brandon took it, almost makes me feel sorry for him. That's a career killer right there for him.
methodwriter85 Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 (edited) Nice chapter. :3 Why do I see Carson pulling a Deke? I must also say, that hearing how Brandon took it, almost makes me feel sorry for him. That's a career killer right there for him. Ya think? With the personel file Brad could write for Brandon, he wouldn't get a job bagging groceries. He just wasted what must have been at least seven-plus years of post-secondary education. gjtravel2a Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Amazing chapter. When the axes begin to fall, it is like the Vikings have landed! With all the venom of Carson, it would be hard to believe the boy doesn't show up again for retribution. You also have to wonder just what Brandon could have been thinking on how it could have ended on a happy note. The crush of what he did would be overwhelming and having his 'mom' come for him is a fitting end. The relationship between Robbie and Brad does have a very strong and solid quality. Someone mentioned earllier that they coulld be JP/Stef redux.....believable but not certain, eh? Who knows where you shall take us. Lots happened and lots to come even through their evening! Boy, are they going to be exhausted tomorrow... gj
Conner Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Splendid chapter, Mark! I am having difficulty understanding Brandon's reaction to being fired. Surely he believes he'll be rewarded by Amphion for his duplicity? $500k in diamonds!!! WOW! No more limos for Brad - does a Brinks truck come in a "stretch"? I'm very impressed with Robbie. He's on fire and Brad's really enjoying it.
Ivy Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 The last two chapters were fab Mark. I really thought Bloodlines would always be the best for me personally, but I'm having second thoughts on that. As to Brandon's reaction, well, Brandon's the type of person that likes to make himself indespensible. He's been Steph's right hand for quite a while. Lately he's been the eyes and ears of Amphion and therefore indespensible to them. Now he is useless to everyone involved. What could he possibly offer to anyone at this point? He has nothing except a Mom willing to give him a ride home. He can't even go to work for Amphion legitimately because if they are ever sued by Steph, Brad, and Luke or investigated by whoever oversees venture capital firms, their "plausible deniability" would be down the drain. Plus who hires a known traitor? Makes you almost feel sorry for him, for being led astray, but. not so much. I do have one or two questions though. I know what Amphion was doing by having an insider leak secrets to them was illegal, but where do our golden trio stand in regards to the law? Is what they were doing with planning to lose some deals and all the hoops they jumped through to get the deals they wanted exactly legal? Not to mention what they pulled with the 'Go Chang' deal. Could they have something to worry about in the future if there are investigations? I'm just curious as it really doesn't affect the story at this point but could possibly in the future. Anyway, I am glad to see that Robbie has finally undergone the cranial rectal inversion surgery and everything is back where it belongs. Now if he could just get in on that magic boy wizard with glasses deal he would be totally back on track on the business side.
Mark Arbour Posted September 4, 2010 Author Posted September 4, 2010 You guys are saps. Take a cute boy who's purely evil, have him throw in a few tears, and you all cave like a sink hole. Looks like Brad and Robbie are going to live happily ever after.
Mark M Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 The GALA! What will Happen?!?!?!?! :D :D SO F***ing EXCITED!!!! How long?????? Please end this by the end of the WEEKEND :D
Caedus Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 The last couple of chapters were nice, and it's cool that everything is starting to sort of fall into place in terms of Amphion, but we still don't know who the mastermind is, even if I may have some misgivings over his/her intelligence level with their choice in pawns at Amphion. Millennium is going to 50+ Chapters, so I'm waiting for the next shoe to drop. This is seems almost too good to be true. 1
Ivy Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 (edited) BTW, so not feeling sorry for Brandon, just understand why he was a crybaby. Ciminals always think their plans are the best and they will get the big payoff in the end. They don't invision getting caught or fired in this case. Reality set in and he knows he now has nothing. Carson's reality still hasn't completely hit. As for the Robbie / Brad happy ever after....its only ch 26 and there is soooo much more story to come (58 ch's and still writing didn't you say?) ...and I don't think I heard Brad say anything about giving up his boytoys yet...so bring on your evilness Mark.... angst is yummy! rjo Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 (edited) I agree I always thought nothing would top Bloodlines. It was the best. However, I have to change my mind. Millennium has taken the crown away. Ever since Brad took the axe to Robbie's car, the chapters are getting better and better. I doubt if Mark can write a better chapter then he does. Can any of you think of something better than this? Any place , any where? As I was reading this last chapter (26) I was wonder who is Brandon's mommy? Is she just a bystander? Or is she more than that. I wonder if we have been mislead. Just as Brad thought this was only about him, I am thinking this is more than just a personal attack. It maybe be an attack on the whole family. Maybe from the past. From Ohio? Someone has been planning this for a very long time. I wonder if It could be a women. A women from the long past? Didn't Jim , JP's brother have child which the mother had to leave town? As the story unfolds we are left with more questions. A mystery. Our guys love a mystery almost as much as we do. You can't tell me they will not give up until they know who is behind this plot to bring them down. This maybe only the first of many battles. 58 chapters is a lot of time to find out. Thanks Mark again for such a great story and a great group of characters to be with along the way. I am looking forward to another great chapter soon.I can tell there is much more of the story to tell. Edited September 5, 2010 by rjo

rjo Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 I can't believe it. Mark you did it again! mmmmm Drama! 1
Mark Arbour Posted September 5, 2010 Author Posted September 5, 2010 I'm glad you guys liked that one!
Ivy Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 If Steph was a "redneck country boy" I would say he just opened up a major can of "whoop ass" and dumped it on Cary Chase! As he is much more refined than that, I will just say what a masterful powerplay that was to watch. Mark, I just don't know what to say about your writing anymore so I'll just say.....you're great...I love your brain...and leave it at that! 1
centexhairysub Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Well have been out of touch with all technology the last few days so just got to read chapters 26 and 27 back to back and what can I say but Freaking Great!!!! I loved the final set ups and how everything played out. I do admit that I feel some sympathy for Brandon, you have to wonder why he did it? I have been saying from the very first that the person really behind all of this is from JP/Stef's past more than Brad's... I still think that when the action shifts to Claremont, we will find out the real mastermind, who might not be as masterful as they thought... While I do think that Robbie has made a good transition and I do hope that Brad and Robbie end up together, I don't believe they are out of the woods yet. I hope that what comes next is as good as the last few chapters have been. So, you will have the next 20 chapters or so posted by the end of the week??? 1
mmike1969 Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Thanks for the update Mark re ch 28: I dare Brad bring up Matt!! 1
Mark M Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 omg two Chapters in one day! i love it!!! GO LABOUR DAY!!!!!!!!! And yes tomorrow/today IS labour day in canada too 1
Caedus Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 (edited) Robbie's really stepping his game up! Considering where Brad and Robbie were a couple of weeks ago this is definitely some good headway. But it's only beginning of a long rollercoaster so I'm pretty excited to read about the next big descent. There's no need for Brad to talk about all the guys he's serviced so he'll likely stick to Cody/Max, Kevin and Father Tim. Amphion ls pretty much done for, so on to Omega and the illusive mastermind. Whoever put this together must be PISSED at Dan losing him/her all that money in what amounted to a personal vendetta that failed miserably. I would not want to be Dan Church or Cary Chase at that moment. Maybe we get to learn more about Sergio/ Kevin Carmichael? @mmike1969: lol there is no way that Brad will EVER tell Robbie about his plan to passive-aggresively get back at him by f**king Matt, who they both knew he had a major lust/crush for. What, is Brad going to tell Robbie how he had Matt "lined up and everything" but just couldn't go through with it? This seems like one of those things you bury in your closet with the other skeletons and hope that if it ever reaches the surface again, you have years between you. gjtravel2a Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Laaws-a-mercy! another fine treat in Chap 28. Not only the rapidity of its arrival but seeing the story move into some nice support for Brad. He deserves some coddleing and Robbie is finally doing it right. It is also nice for Brad to have the humanity to realize what he does about personal revenge and the strength of character he shows not to betray his soul with the 'siren song' of all that attention calling him to just roll back time and forgive and forget. It would be hard for anyone to not want to accept someone back that they love when they are, as I belleve Brad is, exhausted and still hurting. To suddenly find the person they loved and trusted is wrapping them in loving attention and near adoration is sorely tempting to slip back into the past relationship for now it would seem easier for someone so tired and to allow the love to act as a temporary dam to hold all the pain. However, (curses upon the realities of the howevers) like the storm tide, the troubles would likely flood both their lives again and sweep them back into their sea of turmoil with even less strength to survive another round. Brad's wisdom in exploring his feelings and understanding his needs and potential boundaries will be the best for both. Whether Robbie is mature and selfless enough to accept this is going to be a key to their survivabilty. Is it Saint Brad? Hardly, but a wiser Brad and one that is on a path that will help them both survive whatever the future they create

This seems like one of those things you bury in your closet with the other skeletons and hope that if it ever reaches the surface again, you have years between you. I had to chuckle when I read what you said about Brad and Matt for I got the image of former President Carter 'confessing that he was guilty of lusting in his heart'. Brad is no Carter and i believe is smart enough to realize there is no need 'to confess'! Hope that is true anyway. It might slip out and make an interesting turn, but I believe our Brad is smarter than Carter...
centexhairysub Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I loved the new chapter... Robbie is starting to come to his senses but so is Brad. They have to decide if the plus they have in their lives are enough to overcome the negatives and whether it is better to remain in a relationship or transition into friends with perhaps benefits... With the big blow up at the gala, and everything coming out the way it did, I would think we would start to find more clues to the person really behind all of this. I hope this first climax isn't the best one but just the incentive to really bring off the big one?!?! Keep up the great work Mark...
