Daisy139 Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Just so we know who we're dealing with (guy on the right).... ...
Ivy Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 that was just hiliarious! and actually a pretty good make-up job on the fake muscles. I guess after you've won enough championships and medals, you can pretty much get away with anything.

I guess after you've won enough championships and medals, you can pretty much get away with anything. That was actually the 2001 Worlds so he had yet to win an Olympic medal and only had two of his six world championships. Has to be the best skating routine of all time.
methodwriter85 Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Thanks for the link, Daisy. That was pretty funny. I'm thinking JJ will do a routine to this circa 2003. God, I could imagine the jaws dropping... God, that'd be an amazing song to do a performance to.
Daisy139 Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Indeed it would be! (Btw, I don't know how common knowledge this is, but lyrics are only allowed in exhibition numbers). Plushenko has actually done more than one exhibition number that made you not want to sit in the front row as a woman.... But it's one of my favorite skating routines for sure. Plus, I found it quite entertaining how the commentators were struggling
methodwriter85 Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 (edited) No.... I am tired of damn Hayes and Cramptons..... no one in these stories is blood related to Brad. That is why I want a Charmichael kid! Brought this point back up because I thought it was an interesting point to make...do people feel an overload of the Hayes and/or Cramptons? I don't, per se, one thing I've been thinking about is the point that every single protagonist, if they are not a Hayes themselves, winds up dating/hooking up with a Hayes. It's been a continual theme- Steven got with Aaron and Nathan. JP got with Jeff, Frank, Marcel, and Matt. Stefan got with Jeff and Matt. Brad got with Robbie and Marcel, and flirted with the idea of getting with Matt. Wade(he did do a stint as narrator) got with Matt. It's been an interesting theme, but I hope Brad's kids snap that streak because it's been done so many times. I don't want Will hooked up with some correspondingly-aged Hayes kid that he meets up with in Claremont or something. Not to say that I'd be against yet another Hayes kids showing up, but having Will get his very own Hayes boy would kinda turn me off. I think it's part "we've been there, done that", and also just the fact that Will's grown up with Robbie as his father that makes the idea kinda squicky to me. Your mileage may vary, of course. Daisy139 Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I didn't feel an overload, since the last two Hayes (Marcel and Matt) came in from very different backgrounds and were only genetically a Hayes.
gjtravel2a Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I think it is less the heritage (Though it is fascinating and sometimes just a good old 'creative hoot' how some of the people come into the storyline and that just keeps us on our toes for we never know what great twists and turns await us!), and more how the characters develop and interact. They could all be from a single branch from the same family tree and be interesting or be a jumble with everyone from different families and be boring as heck....It is the storytelling skill Mark brings that keeps it fresh.
Ivy Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 (edited) Kevin is a Carmichael isn't he? Would he ever be a candidate for storyteller? I don't see him as one at this point, but he is attending Stanford and who knows what Mark has planned for him. I doubt that he was brought in just to be Cody's perfect partner, and then just hang out in the background. What was his major? Is he going to work in one of the family businesses? He is kind of one dimensional right now but he has a lot of potential as a character that I can see. And Steph, Brad and Robbie all like him so I could see him becoming a new protege for any of them He has a legitimate beef with his family from the religious aspect which hasn't been addressed, and Auntie Alex doesn't really know he is in Brad's camp yet which could have a lot of potential family drama as well. I just don't know what direction Mark is going to go with him. I'm always excited to see who the next protagonist will be. Edited December 27, 2010 by Ivy
Mark Arbour Posted December 27, 2010 Author Posted December 27, 2010 I'm not sure who the next protagonist will be, or what the next story will even look like. I'm still focused on pulling all the loose ends together on this one! The Hayes family makes for some interesting characters, much as a couple of you have pointed out. With a broad socio-economic spectrum, it makes it easy to insinuate someone from different backgrounds into the mix without a lot of logical compromise. If you think about it, it would be incredibly difficult to become part of the inner circle of a wealthy family if you weren't born into it, but if you have that genetic connection, it can sometimes trump your background. There will be another Hayes guy or two that we'll meet shortly, but whether they develop romantic interests with any of our current characters is still up in the air. 1

We have our whole lives to f**k.” I swear with God as my witness Arbour, if this is a foreshadowing of Robbie's death I will hunt you down and stake you to an ant hill! 1
methodwriter85 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 (edited) Well, Tim, 9/11 IS just around the corner. Edited December 28, 2010 by methodwriter85

methodwriter85 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Mark, I think that's just you having a constant porno of limitless subgenres running in your head. As opposed to me. Instead of a porno running through my head, my mind runs a nostalgic movie about either 1980's teenagers or early 90's Grunge College students learning universal truths while going through the pitfalls of coming-of-age while listening to great music and wearing period clothing.
centexhairysub Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 :worship: Just have to say that chapter 50 was great... The interplay between Brad and Lark was pitch perfect. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed all of this. Lark seems to realize that he had turned into a complete ass in his old life; I hope he takes this chance for a new one to make something special of his future. I didn't even think about the detective that is being such a jerk as being on the other sides payroll but it does make perfect sense. He was just going way past what would normally have been done at this point in an apparent suicide. Loved Brad coming home to Robbie and the scene that played out there, it was just fantastic. I think that those to are just perfect for each other. I don't see anything other than death ever coming between them again. On a totally non story issue, what the hell is going on with gay authors home page? Does anyone know? I have stuff listed from today along with stuff as far back as December 17th just interspaced in... It is completely confusing... Mark keep up the great work, eagerly awaiting the next chapter....

Thanks a lot! I have a good friend of mine, and when I was writing the scene with Brad and Lark I was trying to think of how the dialog would go if it were he and I talking. I'm glad it worked out. I'm not sure what's up with the home page, or the site in general. I know they're working on implementing the whole new stories system, and I know that it's a huge job. It's slowed things down in general, but I think we all have to keep in mind that it's a little current pain for a lot of long term benefits. For me (and you all), the biggest benefit is that I'll be able to post my own stories without bugging Joe. The bad news is I won't be working with Joe anymore.

Something about having to repost ALL stories and it's going to show up on the home page... And I noticed they are only now just posting Comicality's Secret life of Billy Chase chapter 5 of something like 240 chapters... Yeah, this is going to take a while...

Yeah, I saw that too, and it cracked me up! It's a good series, for those who haven't read it.
Caedus Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 (edited) Actually Comicality had to split Billy Chase's diary into 5 separate books. He's on Chapter 34 of book 5, so that would be Chapter 234, which means he's pretty much caught up to the latest chapter. Definitely recommend the series to anyone interested in stories based in HS. Shifting back to Millennium Chap. 50 was a good read, but I wonder what we can expect to read about Lark in future novels (if he ever makes an appearance after this book.). I'm also excited to find out what will be next in Brad's on going campaign to take down Alexandria and Brian in future chapters. How many chapters are left in Millennium? Edited December 31, 2010 by Caedus
methodwriter85 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 I kinda like the idea of Lark settling down with a nice native lady who bears him some adorable little mooches that call their best friends by one letter and doesn't mind when he sneaks off for ""surfing trips" with some buddies every once in awhile.

I'm also excited to find out what will be next in Brad's on going campaign to take down Alexandria and Brian in future chapters. How many chapters are left in Millennium? I'm working on Chapter 60 right now. I apparently have a lot to accomplish with this story. I kinda like the idea of Lark settling down with a nice native lady who bears him some adorable little mooches that call their best friends by one letter and doesn't mind when he sneaks off for ""surfing trips" with some buddies every once in awhile. This from the guy who gives me shit about repeating myself. No Hayes boy for Will, but I can replicate Lark?
methodwriter85 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 This from the guy who gives me shit about repeating myself. No Hayes boy for Will, but I can replicate Lark? Well, that's because that would all be taking place down there. Not that we'd actually see it. Anyway, I was thinking Will's best bud Jason could turn emo, shop at Hot Topic, and put on eyeliner while blogging about his feelings on LiveJournal and posting artsy pictures of himself... In all honesty, I see Will as a guy who can get along with everybody, but mostly hangs with the surfer/skater/artist crowd...probably having a few friends who like to tag. Maybe breakdance. (Breakdancing has this weird comeback for some reason.) Will COULD make friends with the straight-edge kids, but I would imagine he would only be able to just barely tolerate them because the straight-edge kids were all such sanctimonious asses. Will would also occasionally smoke weed with the hippie vegan crowd, although he'd have to hide his leather jacket from them.
Mark M Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 hrm what have you guys been talking about on here?????? Robbies forshawdowed dead? Meh i'd be okay with that......long as the story went better in the end. Anyway I'm rdy for more of millenium in this new year
rjo Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Another great chapter (51), Mark you did it again! I really like that Kevin went to see Brad as a kid. Hopefully, Brad will find some good in those early years. This whole ordeal maybe will help Brad deal with his past. I can see the Carmichael going down as we speak. Alex and David what a delightful pair! And folks the moral of the story is that hate never wins in the long run. Hate makes you blind to all the facts, you only see what you want to see. Over 60 chapters, great, keep them coming!
centexhairysub Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Damn, the last part of Chapter 51 was just great... I am so happy that Brad got to met his biological father, even if he just remembered it in a flashback. Brad can now know that his bio-dad did care about him, that may help him on more than one level. I wonder if Stef by telling different influential people that he believes the tech market is over-priced doesn't in the story end up pushing the market toward the bubble busting events. Sometimes it only takes one or two people that the markets really listen too to effect the market as a whole... I do agree with others that while hate can motivate someone toward a goal it will generally make it harder to reach that same goal; hate does often blind you to the truth and facts that might lead you away from what you want to accomplish. While using hate as a motivating tool is easy to start with, the complication is brings makes it messy and usually to destructive to be effective. The story just keeps getting better and better and I can't wait to see how it all turns out; great job on this one Mark and keep up the good work!!!!
