Andrew Q Gordon Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 Chapter 21 is up - Am going to try very hard to keep to a Thursday post schedule - this is two days early so expect the next chapter next Thursday. There are about 10 chapters left. I'm getting ready to wrap this up, but there will be a bit more action in the last chapters starting about chapter 24 or 25. Sooo, please let me know, because as you all know, my time is taken up with the wee little one so I'll need all the coaxing and encouragement I can get. yes that was a shameless plug for reviews and comments I won't deny it. https://www.gayauthors.org/story/Quonus10/purpose/21
Daddydavek Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 (edited) Ryan's physical development is moving along and his enhanced hearing is too. His impatience is understandable as he is young. Will is going to have his hands full holding him back after this. Hopefully, the latest perp is brought to justice and not just taken out in revenge. However, I don't think the FBI guy is just going to fade into the background. He was embarrassed publicly and will want his pound of flesh. P.S. Andy, keep writing in your so-called spare time as you lay about all day..... Edited October 19, 2011 by Daddydavek 1
Andrew Q Gordon Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 Ryan's physical development is moving along and his enhanced hearing is too. You don't think we've seen the end of Barrington yet? What ever gave you that Idea As for my spare time, I'd have a lot more if family and friends stopped coming over to see the little darling during her sleep time. Ya think they'd want to see her awake, but they always seem to come by to visit when she's asleep which is my time - short as it is. Sigh, lost the whole day today because of that. Oh well, at least they bring gifts. Thanks Dave - and Go Red Birds
Andrew Q Gordon Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 Thanks to Jian, I'm about 2300 words into the next chapter - not the next one to be posted but the next one to write. I really hope to be able to finish this soon, but it's slow. The only time I get to write is when I'm tired LOL - not the best recipe for getting this done the way I want it. Anyway, I am working on this and it will be done soon - I hope Andy 1
Andrew Q Gordon Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 For those interested - here's an update. the next chapter is done as is 23. 23 is being reviewed, so once that is back, I'll post 22. I actually have most of chapter 25 written but very little of chapter 24 - Anyta and I discussed things and it seems that I jumped the gun a bit and needed to put in something else first. So that is what I'm working on now - doing chapter 24. I know posting is erratic and it will continue to be that way, but rest assured it WILL be completed. Promise. Once I finish this, I doubt I'll venture off into this genre anytime soon. At least not for a full length story. Okay, back to work - err taking care of the wee little one - she's being a bit fussy after we let her eat her halloween candy - hope she doesn't keep us up all night 1
Daddydavek Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Please tell me her Halloween candy was her formula and that you didn't really let her have any candy at less than two months old! Your pediatrician would have a fit. Interesting bit about the writing. I am always sort of amazed at how others go about it. I am very linear and then I go back and edit, edit, edit, edit and edit and then re-edit some more. Probably why I haven't posted anything. 1
Andrew Q Gordon Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 Dave, I think if I gave her candy they Child Protective Service people would be out to the house. I was just kidding. I took her to a couple houses but nothing too much it was cold and it was a hassle taking off her coat to show folks her costume. They offered us - me - candy, but funny thing about my neck of the neighborhood - we get VERY few trick or treaters for a combination of reasons. Mostly I used to think it was because the house have bigger yards than down the hill so there are fewer houses per 100 feet. Also our houses are set back more so there is more walking involved to get to and from the door to the street. So mainly we get the kids who are coming down the hill to get to the good neighborhoods. The other reason I'm finding is we are the last house on the block that is giving out candy - The 3 houses below us are: Empty for 20 years, oddly missing yesterday, and too cheap to give out candy - that's our immediate neighbors. On the other side is: The freakish Psychics professor who probably gives our model of hydrogen atoms, the college rental house, the grumpy older guy who is always working in his yard but never speaks to anyone, and the retired Univ Prof who is already in Florida. SO no one is giving out candy ANYWAY - which of course could be a factor of so few come so why bother, but still. That was a long way of saying we have GOBS of candy left and one of the neighbors sent us a goodie basket with all kinds of cookies and brownies and bisoctti and what not along with some baby things for Little Q so the cup doth overfloweth with sweets in our house right now. Anyway hungry? As for writing, I'm kinda the same as you, I find it hard to back fill things. What basically happened was 23 needed to be slit up and something more add before I got to 24. So insert new 24 move 24 - 25 and viola, problem solved - kinda. Okay gonna use the calm to get a few things done. 1
Daddydavek Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Tightly written chapter which describes how Will dealt with the latest cry for vengeance/justice(?). Nothing on the back story on Ryan, or even the police and the irritated FBI agent, but hopefully, all in good time. 1
Andrew Q Gordon Posted November 4, 2011 Author Posted November 4, 2011 Dave. Yes you are correct there is nothing about any of the above, but all three will be making their presence and/or Purpose felt rather soon. I'm getting to the parts where they can almost write themselves as I've had this part of the story in my head forever. Now I just need to get it down. Thanks for sticking with me. Andy

Andrew Q Gordon Posted November 14, 2011 Author Posted November 14, 2011 The above post was nine (9) days ago. We're waiting! Impatiently. Sorry. We had my cousin here on Friday then we all drove to NY for the weekend for a different cousin's baby's christening. The girls - My cousins 12 week old and Baby Q got to hang out and ignore each other - sounds like what they'll do as teenagers Assuming I get a few things done today, I'll try to post 23 later today. Sorry for the delay. 1
Andrew Q Gordon Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 Dave, Because you asked so nicely, I decided to post a few days early. SO Chapter 23 is up - Andy
Daddydavek Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Read and reviewed! While understandable, Will's reluctance to 'read' Ryan again to find out more about his purpose is also somewhat frustrating. Looking forward to the post next week! 1
Andrew Q Gordon Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 Dave, Remember what we'll saw last time he read Ryan's mind; he saw David's killers. That told him, all of David's memories are there. Imagine how hard it would be not to look to be sure that David loved him as much as he loved David. So yeah, while it might be frustrating, I don't think that Wlll's position is really that unusual. As for next week, chapter 24 should be posted as scheduled on Thursday. Or, maybe a day earlier as Thursday is Thanksgiving.

Crap, I got my bad baseball players mixed up. I think I meant Marvelous Marv Thronberry - and for some reason thought he was the catcher for the Mets. Oops wrong on so many levels.
Andrew Q Gordon Posted November 25, 2011 Author Posted November 25, 2011 A day late, yes, but who knew traveling with an infant would be so hard Chapter 24 is posted. Here is the link: Purpose: Chapter 24 I know I ask for feed back a lot, but if there are things that seem weird, off, not right, I'd really like to hear from you with those. The last 6 or so chapters are started but not complete so if there is something that concerns anyone, please let me know. Andy 1
Daddydavek Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Read and reviewed. Seems like these two star crossed lovers have a hard task figuring out what their joint purpose is; and that it may not be able to be accomplished without the demise of one or both of them (which seems more likely as the story progresses). 1
Andrew Q Gordon Posted November 26, 2011 Author Posted November 26, 2011 Demise Well I sure hope neither one of them bites a bullet, though if Ryan doesn't pay attention, he might end up death rather quickly. Maybe this will serve as a wake up call that it is dangerous enough out there with out courting danger. One thought I had while writing this - Will's replacement, when it comes, is going to be far more challenged to reach a point of near invulnerability. 40 years ago things were much different, no Close Circuit TV's not the proliferation of guns among criminals, no internet, no cell phone camera's, I mean the next host - who will need some time to figure out what exactly he or she is and what they are supposed to do - is going to be hard pressed to survive more than 1 mission or 2; sorta like Ryan's Purpose and his hosts. Just sayin'. 1

Just sayin'. Interesting points about the advance in technology making it harder to remain hidden for the next inhabitant... It would be interesting if the two guys could figure out what anchors their "ITS" to them besides being sustained with their life. It would be so nice if they could shed them and have some measure of normalcy without being totally and normally dead. However, based on their less than perfect understanding so far, that sounds like a pipe dream. As far as courting danger, it seems Ryan merely has to leave his home to do that.... 1
Andrew Q Gordon Posted November 26, 2011 Author Posted November 26, 2011 I have thoughts about the nature of the 'bond' between Purpose and host - they are - quite literary - til death do they part. Sorry, but that is no secret. As for a normal life, bah - it's over rated. They just need to figure out happy balance and they can have quite a nice life together - assuming they survive - no small if I know.
Daddydavek Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 "As for a normal life, bah - it's over rated." I couldn't disagree more! I think a normal life is vastly under-rated. Ordinary people doing ordinary things like working, eating, and having sex is what keeps society going. While the bizarre and unusual is interesting and the scary and frightening may be exhilarating, the daily grind can be fulfilling. Now that you've had a couple of months of dirty burp towels, dirty diapers and middle of the night tempers, I suspect that there are moments when you wonder what you have gotten yourself into? I also suspect that the moments of sheer joy occur often too. Taking the baby fresh from her bath, patting her dry and snuggling her to you with that smell that only clean babies have; rocking her to sleep while she lays against your chest so trusting; yeah these are the extraordinary things of ordinary life I wouldn't trade for anything. I got to experience it with my kids and again with my granddaughter. I am truly blessed. As for excitement, I spent nearly a year in a combat infantry company in Vietnam. I had all the excitement, stress, adrenaline rushes, and fear one could ever want and saw death up close and personal. That experience taught me to cherish ordinary or "normal life"! 1
Andrew Q Gordon Posted December 2, 2011 Author Posted December 2, 2011 Well I suppose that living a normal life is probably best in real life, but then we write about those whose lives are less than conventional and everyone seems to be enthralled by it. SO, when talking about Ryan and Will, I think normal would be overrated - no one would care. Just sayin.
Andrew Q Gordon Posted December 14, 2011 Author Posted December 14, 2011 So yeah, I've been awful quiet on this, but I did finish Chapter 25 - it was a bit difficult to 'get right' if I really did - but it's done and I've got a fair bit of the next two chapters written once I thread them together. After I review it, I'll send it to be beta read then edited, hopefully, I can get back on track and get this one put to bed. Sorry for the delay. Life interrupted I supposed. 1

Posted on the day before the day before....
