"28 will definitely be another cliff - sorry, it's just how it goes. But at least I won't leave you hanging too long. Then again, I'm not near as good as Mark Arbour who will post chapters sooner because he left you on a cliff, nope not me, you gotta wait the full week. Posted Image But bribes could make that a less than firm position."

Considering you are a prosecutor, I'm just wondering what you would consider a "worthy" bribe?

Haha, IDK. But more people reviewing would be a good start. :P [Which i know is preaching to the choir, so it's kinda pointless.]

I'll tack on the spoiler tag for at least the next 24 hours or so since I happened to be on when you put it up. Posted Image

I have to wonder what it would take for Barrington to even hope to come close to catching Will. I suspect I'm not going to like the answer. Posted Image (anticipates a "Posted Image" response)

Something...something seems off, though. Like it doesn't end with it just being that Barrington is threatened with his existence and this is what he's attempting to do about it. (Really, really anticipates a "0:)" response to this one. I know I'm probably bugging the hell out of you at this point. I'll try and be a little nicer for the next one, even with an impending cliff. 0:))

I'll answer in a spoiler as well.

You won't like what it would take to catch Will. Let me leave it at that.

Will is the plum for Barrington's career - so to speak. Catching the biggest single killer in US history would be a coop like no other. Using him for counter intelligence 'purposes' would be even bigger. But you know how something gets under your skin and you can't let go? That's Barrington's problem now. Especially now. He 'almost' caught him. He's never been this close before - so no he's not letting go. But we'll just see how that works out. Won't we? Posted Image

Reference the comment and spoiler above, I can foresee several scenarios where Barrington gets to Will.

Thankfully, I don't have to puzzle out whether that happens or not. I'll leave it to the Q!

Seems like a lot of loose ends to tidy up in just a few remaining chapters....Posted Image

Dave,

You're correct, their are several ways he could get to Will, the question is would they work? and if so, for how long? They don't fully understand Will's powers so even if they catch him can they hold him?

As an aside - and I admit to being totally vain and egotistical here - yesterday someone ding the story - i.e. gave it a negative number of star dropping it from 5-4 = which would mean someone gave it a one given the number of votes already. I suspect this has much to do wtih my comments in the Soap box regarding a bill in VA that will allow discrimination against gay couples trying to adopt or be foster parents given the timing of the ding cooresponds to my comments. That is a long way of asking anyone reading this thread and this story to rate the story if you haven't already.

I recognize I might end up with a LOWER rating, but at least I'll know folks rated the story and know it was not some disgruntled person, but an accurate rating. Either way, I'm finishing this so no worries there.

Thanks :)

Heh...shocking. :P

So I've bee trying to post these pictures in the story, but I didn't figure it out in time.

The building in Chapter 27 is real, I remember passing it thinking how it would work well in the story. So here they are, except these are in day light:

The second picture shows the Park Regency Hotel that 'Will' used to get away.

Well since I'm talking to myself, let me tell myself that I've finished Purpose. The last 4 chapters are with Anyta for Beta reading then off to Jian and Frosty for editing.

Final count:

Chapter 30 basically ends the story.

Chapter 31 is a journal entry -

Epilogue wraps things up.

My posting plan is now set:

March 1 Chapter 28

March 8 Chapter 29

March 15 Chapter 30

March 18 Chapter 31

March 22 Epilogue.

I suppose I could post 31 and the Epilogue together on March 22, but I figured I'd keep them separate for a bit of dramatic effect :P

Purpose will be the last story I post on GA for some time. Sadly, I don't have the time to write like I used to so let me say it's been fun and I hope to come back with something sooner than later.

ok!?

You just won Best Promising Story in the GA Readers Choice Awards for Second Shot and it seems to me that you are feeling a bit lacking in motivation?

Finding time to do what we need to do is always a problem, usually only overcome by getting really motivated.

We all have the have to do's. We all have the I want to do's. And we all have the I really should do's. I suggest that honing your skills so that you can write that best-seller that funds baby Q's college fund and wedding fund (can't forget that) is not a bad use of your time. Just sayin'.

Dave,

Winning the Reader's Choice Award is what motivates me to try to write more. But unless and until writing starts funding the baby's college or wedding fund, I've been asked to scale it back a bit. I think that might chance in a month or so when Mike goes back to work and we hire a nanny, but even then, I think the top of my 'need to do' list is spending time with Baby Q.

Another thing I learned from Purpose is that I don't want to post until the story is done. Second Shot was mostly done when I started writing so I was able to post that without many periods of inactivity. Purpose had several lengthy pauses along the way. At times I felt I lost momentum and readers. I've also found that there are a few stories on here that authors started, got me hooked and have abandoned them or more to the point completely disappeared leaving stories only partially finished. It's one of the reasons I rarely start something that isn't finished. Some authors I exempt from that Mark A, Cia, Renee, Comic, Nephy come to mind as authors who always finish what they start posting. Most if not all of them only post stories that are already completed. That is what I aspire to. That said, I have nothing ready to post right now, so I envision a long lull before I'm ready to post another story just by necessity of not having anything to post :P

Whew, that was rambling. Got the day off to run errands so I better go before Mike has to go run his.

Thanks as always and fear not, I'm not going anywhere :P

Chapter 28 is posted. Have a look see if you care. I will warn you, I might leave you on a wee bit of a cliff, just a little, really

Good thing I waited until after y'all could nominate me for King of Cliffs 0:)

There's always next year... ;)0:)

As for Ryan and going outside...well, hate to say Will told you so! This tells me, though, that 29 is gonna get pretty nasty - and I'm not looking forward to that. :P (Even if it is necessary...)

MJ85 is right about next year!

...And also about the upcoming chapter. Ryan was going out while Will went to talk to the "nice" detective....Posted Image

This chapter certainly kept my interest upPosted Image

Next year, what ever. SO not worried, this is nothing compared to Cia and others more verse in the art of the Cliff than I.

Yeah next chapter is going to get nasty. Hell hath no fury like Vengeance all riled up - or something like that Posted Image

29 is going to be a roller coaster and the 'nice' detective came through for Will at the end and did what was right and not what was his 'duty'. I suppose nothing hits home that duty doesn't get you but so far as nearly having your kister blow up by your 'fellow law enforcement officers'. Sadly, the warning was too late - though I'd like to think that had Barrington not tried to blow them both up unexpectedly, Griffin was going to say something the night before. And then when Will dropped the bomb shell that he was leaving on Grif, that it slipped his mind until the end. But that's just me.

What? 0:)

I thought it was one of the best chapters in the story - Posted Image

PS - had to delete a few angry faces to add my own to the post, you over did the emoticons. lol

Chapter 29 was a climactic chapter both emotionally and based on the action. I give it two thumbs up, five stars and a like! Posted Image

Whatever the outcome, they will both be changed by what has occurred. Despite Will's promise to Ryan, even assuming Ryan survives, Barington deserves payback and I think that Will is just devious enough to make it indelibly clear that it is payback. (At least here's hoping!Posted Image )

I thought it was a great chapter Andy! Now I await the tidy up in Chapters 30 and 31 as well as the epilogue.

The fact that there is an epilogue gives me hope that our dynamic duo survive their close encounters.Posted Image

That's not funny.

(The best chapter part, not the emoticons part. I didn't know there was an emoticons limit in posts. :P Actually, I didn't think I'd see the day where you told anyone that they overdid the emoticons. ^_^)

Haha, don't read too much into the fact there is an epilogue - it could just as easily - un maybe I ought not say too much, I'll just give it away. Suffice it to say I wrote several epilogues trying to decide what ending I was going to use - I actually wrote the Epilogue before i wrote the last three chapters to help me decide what ending I wanted more. Stay tuned, the end is near.

I didn't say the end was the best, just the chapter itself. We got a chance to see Will unleashed, that has to count for something.

And yeah, the system said I tried to use too many emoticons. Wasn't me doing it, just the GA system :P

Well, I don't think I've commented on Purpose yet, but let it be known that I'm enjoying it very much.

And that last chapter was so intense! I am sorely tempted to bribe your beta reader into sending me the next chapter in advance :P

Thanks Bleu, Of course is a certain beta reader accidently left the chapters laying aroudn and you happened to see them, I know I can count on your keeping it confidential ;)

I have this horrible time trying to decide what to say and what not to so I don't give things away, so for now I'm going to say nothing and smile. :)

Actually, I am pretty sure he would refuse to tell me anything. He takes his role very seriously (and rightly so). ;)
