centexhairysub
Well, I don't really consider myself a very religious person but I do consider myself a very spiritual person. I was raised in the Methodist church and have always found my personal spirituality a great blessing in my life. It isn't something I ever try and force on anyone else, but it is as much a part of me as being gay or white or fat or bitchy... LOL....
rjo
When Mark writes his stories he is dealing with life and in trying to make those characters real, he has added that spark that make them so real. Some of us could consider it a soul. My back ground was that on Sunday morning there was no question what to do. Going to church was not a duty, but a joy. Thankfully it still is. Back to the point, what draws us to those stories? Because they reflect life and people we can relate to. Even though the Cap guys and George are richer than most of us, they still have the same needs, desires, want as all the us. Their love of life is the same as ours. They maybe screwed up but that makes them even more real.
MJ85
I've seen a couple reviews talking like the story will be ending soon or asking if it's ending soon. Then...I look at this post: I think you'll get answers to all of your questions in the next 5-10 chapters, give or take a few. So...yeah, I don't really get how this could be ending very very soon. In any case, I feel like this story would be incomplete with a look at how Will, Brad, and Robbie put themselves back together after all this. That part of the story doesn't seem like something that can be adequately told in just a few chapters.
methodwriter85
We also have to see Jeanine come back to normal...depression usually takes more than just a few months to come back from. As well the clusterffuck that was the 2000 Election, JJ's trip to Norway that everyone is planning on going on, and what-have-you. There are way too many strings left untied to wrap up the story now. I'm not going to be surprised if Paternity winds up Millenium-sized.

I'm not going to be surprised if Paternity winds up Millenium-sized. Off the top of my head, other than the Election which is now only two-and-a-half weeks away at this point, I wonder which of these other events could go into this story, and which could go into a separate story that...yes...would start right after this one? My thought is, the Election is too close time-wise to not pop up in this story unless Mark decided to cut if off right here, which would seem really off in my opinion. I don't remember though when the Norway trip is supposed to happen, while Jeanine's depression doesn't really seem to have a fixed timetable. Only reason I look at it like that is, I wonder which of these events wouldn't fit the "paternity" theme if they're far enough away to do some working around with, story-wise? methodwriter85
JJ's Norway competition is November 2nd through November 5th, which means he'll probably have to leave either November 1st or on Halloween. I imagine that Brad and Robbie will show up for the last day or two of the competition, while Claire chaperones JJ. The 2000 Election happened November 7th. I do wonder what America would have been like if Al Gore had been president. Other than that and the sinking of USS Cole(I'm kind of surprised we didn't get a mention of that), 2000 was a pretty quiet year. If you use Mark's general m.o., it's likely that we'll go out to at least the spring of Wade's junior year, especially because Matt and Wade both have their milestone birthdays. That's why I'm thinking we'll go into the 70-chapter range with this story. The next story would likely be the summer of 2001, which leads into... http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=Kxr5xll7DP0&NR=1 Edited May 7, 2012 by methodwriter85

methodwriter85
What happened to Jeanine's kid? Cody was the father right? I've lost track.., It seems like Madison is getting cared for along with Riley, but because Madison isn't actually Wade's daughter, we're just not really seeing much scenes with Maddy because the story, at its heart, is about the father/son bond. Plus, Madison is only a couple of weeks old so we can't have much in terms of scenes with her anyway. I think Wade noted at one point in the story that Cody's interest in Maddy basically consists of, "Oh, she's still alive? That's good. Alright, I've got a circuit party to head to with my latest trick. Later!" Edited May 7, 2012 by methodwriter85
Daddydavek
Sweet baby Jesus on a cracker with cheese! I have got to stop reading these chapters at work. Made me cry again. Poor Will cried buckets full over the past week or so, so it was really heartwarming to see Robbie finally react to the human side of events and make his peace. I got a little teary-eyed too. Mark does spin a yarn.

I think of "the election" more in terms of the Danfields plotline, which...that isn't completely resolved yet, is it? I feel like it was kind of left hanging, then became decidedly less important with Will Vs. Brad + Robbie moving into the forefront. Seems like there should be one more Danfield surprise coming before we hit ballot box time.
centexhairysub
Well, I guess because I have always like Robbie a little more than Brad; this chapter really had me going. I was so glad that Robbie finally saw what he was doing to Will and once he was face to face with it, and could put it in context; he made the move to patch things up. I said a few post back that Robbie was the kind of person that needs that face to face encounter for him to really deal with the issues. I think this is true, and with this one, because of his past; he was able to really understand Will's reaction, finally. I really don't think it was ever the money really with Robbie, although he does love that car and it does keep getting attacked... I do think Will was right, Robbie is the emotional glue that holds the rest of the group together. I think at least a few sessions of group/family counseling is definitely in order....

If the competition starts on Thursday Nov, 2 2000, most likely the US team would leave Saturday Oct 28, 2000 to get some ice time. If I remember this is an ISU Junior Grand Prix event so skaters can't just show up, they have to be part of the US delegation and qualify in. methodwriter85
I'll go ahead and consult Daisy on this. It really is amazing the amount of school JJ has to miss. It's why I'm surprised he decided to go HW with Will...I kind of figured that he and Jeanine had worked something out with Malibu that allowed him to miss so much school, whereas with HW he's just a new kid who's missing weeks of school at a time. No kid at H-W is "just a new kid". The school is very small and very personal and they understand that when parents are paying $30,000 per child that they are to deliever more than the usual. The school is very supportive of students who have other commitments too, whether they are actors, athletes or musicians.
methodwriter85
But according to Julian, who is only three years behind JJ and Will in terms of HW, HW was pretty strict regarding attendance and it was an uphill battle for a friend of his to pursue acting. rjo
After reading chapter 37 a few times, I finally got it. Maybe I'm a Hayes too. Everybody though it was the money or the stuff, but it was something much more important, Why? Why did Will do this? Once Will opened up and told Robbie why. He understood. I think that the Why was so important that, now Robbie and Will can resume they relationship. Unlike Will and Brad, I don't think this one needs to be rebuild. Both Will and Robbie are more than willing to forgive. Another thing that struck me was Will's plan to stay at Escorial rather than return home. I am not sure if Will would have thought of Robbie and Brad's relationship, before himself but now he was willing to sacrifice his relationship with his Dad, for Brad and Robbie's. That says a lot for a 14yo. Not the selfish brat, anymore? Will is growing up. I think all three of them (Will, Brad, and Robbie) will have a closer, better and more solid relationship than they ever had. Well he was about once a week before he sped things up, so if he is back to the regular schedule, so be it. It was very considerate of him to take us through a tense part quickly. Mari
Does anyone know what the updates were about for PMS? I don't feel like rereading them at the moment since I'm rereading Land Whore. Mark Arbour
Does anyone know what the updates were about for PMS? I don't feel like rereading them at the moment since I'm rereading Land Whore. I just wanted to know if anything important happened or if it was just typo fixo. I'm sorry about that. The only thing that changed was the font for Will's portion. I did that for two reasons. I switched it to "Georgia" so it would be consistent, and because that font looks way better on my iPhone. Well he was about once a week before he sped things up, so if he is back to the regular schedule, so be it. It was very considerate of him to take us through a tense part quickly. I am sure it was a strain on him and his support team. Thanks Tim. This has been a really busy time. I'd been posting a chapter every 4 days, and then I'd been every other day (pretty much) for a bit while we got through Will's crisis.
MJ85
Now...that's a bit more like it. I actually didn't quite expect the Jeff thing to wrap up so quickly, but all things considered...I won't be broken up to see him (mostly) go back into the background for a little while. Seeing Wade play around with any guy where it's mostly one-sided sexually, when he's versatile with Matt...not really a fan of that one. (Sorry Mark ) With Sean, it was different because Matt was also there. In any case, I have to think that we'll start to see where Wade and Matt gradually cut back on their side action, and go back to being exclusive with each other (or only "play" together). Even if it's a long way back to exclusive, I have to think that this is the turning point for them. Not to say that there isn't plenty of room for more hot playing around...

Daddydavek
Jeff may end up being a former friend with benefits if he becomes a wedge between Wade and Matt IMHO. He is smart, capable and a good aide for Stef. I think it was telling that when Wade finished talking to Matt and went back to bed, that he did not wake up Jeff. I am waiting for the next move from the real villain in the piece, Wade's mom....
