If you're on IEMs, headphone, or big speakers, that Lay Concert Organ, added by the conductor adds considerable gravitas!  :)

David Oistrakh plays Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto E-minor, December 24th, 1955

 

First go to min. 21:10 and listen to the miracle that is the playing of the third movement,

Allegretto non troppo – Allegro molto vivace. Then start at the beginning and listen to the whole concerto :)

Weekend before last I was at one of the Chicago Symphony concerts where Gil Shaham performed this. 😄

Big fan of El Sistema.  So heartbroken that economics and politics have dealt it such a blow.  I haven't heard any news about Maestro José Antonio Abreu in forever - hope he's still with us.

This one of the beautiful moments from BBC Proms

A beautiful and subtle performance. It's awful to think this ensemble has succumb due to political uncertainty. The arts should be above temporary things. Thanks for posting this.
