He meant a lot to me. 5 minutes ago, mollyhousemouse said: they can be a lot of work in the beginning, but if you put in the time to raise them right, train them up then they are great companions as one of mine lays down with his chin on my leg as for cleaning up after them, it's easier to use a pooper scooper than clean a litter box i think Don't get me wrong. I had a dog at one point in my life and he was damn near perfect as far as I was concerned. I trained him and he loved everyone and he lived a wonderful life. We went lots of places together and he never once gave me reason to regret having gotten him. And I think that's my problem with dogs now. None of them compare to what I had in Sam. Also, I've been attacked by dozens of dogs and been injured by a few in the past 5 years and the last one probably would have put me in the hospital or morgue if not for some wild random moment. I have a friend who's overeager dog tried to bite my face on multiple occasions. My friend is great with pets but his dog is completely unruly and the people whose dogs have attacked me (while I was doing my job) seemed to not care that they attacked me. So, yeah, I've been pretty much turned off when it comes to dogs in general. 4 1 1
Thorn Wilde Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 (edited) Ugh... I feel so tired and depressed today. At least it's finally quiet since my flatmate's gone to bed. I really do like dogs. They're just not for me, I think. Not at the point I'm at in my life right now. I grew up knowing lots of lovely dogs. My aunt had a Groenendael named Glory. Another of my aunts raised Lundehunds. My uncle (my dad's best friend, not an actual uncle, but he was always uncle to me) always had Border Collies. And my godmother had a Komondor named Emma. So I grew up with medium to big dogs. I'd want a bigger dog if I was gonna have one. So it feels like, well, a dog. Edited December 30, 2018 by Thorn Wilde 4

In Oslo it's illegal to have your dog off the leash, always, except for out in the forests, and even there only for some months out of the year. 5

Ripley was a poodle, but just cut short.. never all that fluffy nonsense. He walked, not rode and was a dog. Small but a dog. He was a natural retriever like all poodles are and he played a mean game of pine cone soccer. Even my giant of a Husband would get another in a heartbeat. Small or large.. dogs are dogs if you bring them up like one. 1 3

Thorn Wilde Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 ...so when I open a new tab in Safari these days there are some kind of random blurry moving images going on in the background and some of them are flesh coloured pulsing things, and it occurred to me that this is what it must be like watching porn if you're severely myopic and not wearing glasses, and now I can't get that thought out of my head. There's something wrong with me. 1 4

I once got a laughing fit while eating onigiri (Japanese stuffed rice balls) and had rice coming out of my nose. Also not particularly nice, but at least it wasn't hot. 1 4
