Popular Post Bucket1 Posted May 3, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 3, 2020 What is the answer to Clo's question? Do they taste different? Are these for roasting, mash or boiling? What about potato salad? Do they bleed? I was thinking of a combo of plain, purple and sweet potato might look cool 2 4

What about potato salad? Do they bleed? I was thinking of a combo of plain, purple and sweet potato might look cool I think they would taste similar to red potatoes, and most likely are better-suited for roasting or boiling. And it would certainly make a unique presentation as a salad. There are regular and "yam" varieties of purple potatoes, apparently. https://www.knowyourproduce.com/purple-mashed-potatoes/ https://www.spoonforkbacon.com/mashed-purple-sweet-potatoes/ Edited May 3, 2020 by Page Scrawler 5

I imagine they're much hardier than the Russets or reds I normally buy at the store. I just Googled purple potatoes. Apparently they're just as easy to grow as other varieties. 3 3
Popular Post Albert1434 Posted May 3, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 3, 2020 (edited) Purple potatoes are similar in taste to a regular russet potato. They have a less starchy, more moist texture. Which means they would make a good Potato Salad. Edited May 3, 2020 by Albert1434 2 4
