I don't know how that happened but last night it was about 11pm when I went to my room and did some crochet like always but suddenly I needed to pee and checked the time and it was 4am!! :o So yeah I've just woke up from a post Sunday roast nap Hi, clo Sort of a lazy Sunday here for me, so far. Although I have dug up a load of old linoleum that was buried in the garden. I think it may have been put down as a path, because there was a layer of small pebbles on top of it. Had to remove it in sections, so it will go into the rubbish skip I intend renting sometime. I've also sown climbing runner bean seeds in deep individual seed pots. I managed to get the return of a lot of 8 foot canes I had left at the place I sold last year (the new owner has no use for them), so will use them to make a frame for the beans to grow up when I plant them out. Mum's house is 5 miles from the ocean and 14 ft above sea level. Part of her complex is only 9 ft above sea level. Guess that's why this area is considered part of the South Carolina low country. 4 2

I've thought about growing different varieties of potatoes like those. I imagine they're much hardier than the Russets or reds I normally buy at the store. Years ago I've grew potatoes from the peels after paring potatoes for dinner. I used to add them to a small compost pile. Next thing I knew I had potato vines. I harvested them as small "new" potatoes and got about two pound. Normally I would buy a pound of seed potatoes but I've also planted those from the bin that had sprouted. I prefer to grow my potatoes under a mulch layer of straw, leaf and grass clippings rather than in hills. It takes a bit more space but it's easy to lift the edge of the mulch to gather a few small potatoes from time to time. Since the reason I grew potatoes was to have those small potatoes it was the best solution for me. Storage potatoes are plentiful and relatively cheap wher I live so I didn't need a large harvest of keepers. 2 4

Popular Post dughlas Posted May 4, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 4, 2020 (edited) G'day y'all. It bodes a hot muggy day here. Though my head aches the pup and I managed an early morning walk. Now for some brekkie, a shower then a bit of quiet. Blessed be. ... Well I've had brekkie, toast with butter and cherry jam - two bites of which went to the pup. Taken that shower, the water cascading over my skin washing away the soap bubbles was comforting. Unfortunately none of that has done anything to ease the storm building in my brain. I've taken a bit of something, drawn the curtains and settled into the recliner in my room. There's a dozing pup curled up between my knees. Let us hope for better things.
