Hey, brother B.  No, it's the motor or whatever controls the speed of the flames. Everything works perfectly, including the remote. All the flame and rock colors work, as does the heater, which is quiet but powerful. I don't notice the noise much when the TV is on, but I paid a lot of money for a good product, and this is bullcrap. It's frustrating, but if I have to send it back, I will. Just waiting to hear from the manufacturer. My son says Amazon would pay shipping if I have to, and then send me a new one.

OMG I still so full from lunch I won't be eating for a week at least! 

My uncle and great-aunt came for lunch and I made a beef tongue with veggies, rice and bechamel sauce. It was delicious! They each went home with a Tupperware and there's just a little bit of meat and some rice left. I'll have the broth this week as soup. I might even drop some pieces of chicken to make a chicken soup with tiny noodles. It's a lot of prep but so worth it!

Max takes his training as a dancer very seriously, so usually he's the one pushing us to eat more veggies. 

I can't say much about the adoption, because some of the information is still confidential. However, there were two other families who came close to adopting him, and for various reasons, it didn't work out. A few days after the adoption was finalized, Max was helping me put groceries away, and he asked, "Daddy, can we have tacos for dinner tomorrow?" I was planning to respond with, "Sure, honey, whatever you want." But I only got as far as "whatev--" before I realized that was the first time Max called me "Daddy". He'd been living with us for six months at that point. I started crying, partly because I was happy, but partly because I was sad for the kid. Six months, and he'd been too afraid to get his hopes up, in case the adoption failed....again. I love when he calls me "Daddy", because I'm always reminded that I get to spend time with this amazing little human and watch him grow and mature into someone even greater.
