Don't know whether all of us deserve that title, clo... But thanks for the comment on the pic. Thought it was time I stopped being invisible. (It's actually from 2006, so a bit out of date. You have to use your artificial tree for more than 10 years in order to leave smaller carbon footprint than with using a live tree every year. 1 hour ago, Marty said: You could always buy a rooted one in a pot, and plant it out somewhere after christmas... I only know about the place that sells trees north of me because they have a huge sign advertising when they open, and the price. Seems pretty steep to me, but they have what looks like thousands of trees, and they been in operation for many years. Exactly, it's no different than any other horticultural crop. Of course, if they removed natural forests areas to grow Christmas trees it would be different, but Xmas tree farms are usually made on agricultural land. Edited July 7, 2019 by Timothy M. 4 3

Saved me from having to look up the figures about the carbon footprints of artificial christmas trees. And I suspect that figure of ten years probably doesn't take into account the fact that many of those trees are made in distant parts of the world, and have to be transported long distances to where they are being sold. Another suspicion of mine is that many people do not realise that a proper rotation of crops like trees is actually carbon neutral... 4 2 1

My tree was made from 100 percent recycled plastic... I bought it from Canadian Tire about twenty years ago, after years of using my own trees from my property. 7
