I'm pretty excited...I remember the 2002 Salt Lake City games as one of my favorites so I'm looking forward to it again soon. Besides, TV has been horrible lately, so it'll give me something to watch.
Favorite events...
1) Speed skating. When I was a kid, I roller bladed and played hockey, a lot. I was a big Apolo Ohno fan when I first watched him skate in 2002. He was like the Michael Phelps of short track speed skating, so I'm excited to see how he's gonna do this time.
2) Snowboarding. Aside from roller blading, I picked up skating boarding, so obviously this is a nice event to watch for me. It's pretty damn cool the stunts they do, makes me pretty jealous. Gonna be lookin' out for Shaun White.
3) Figure Skating...yes, I just pulled my gay card. But it's artistic and fun sometimes. Gotta love Chazz Michael Michaels
I won't really follow any of the rest...maybe a few glances.
The difference between racial and sexuality prejudice is that racial prejudice isn't unanimous while sexuality is. A black man will not be discriminated against in Africa, neither will a Hispanic be in Latin America. Each ethnicity has a home and holds a significant portion of the world population, but that isn't true for homosexuals. Homosexuality is out of the "norm" no matter where you are, or who you are. That is not to say it is any lesser or greater than heterosexuality and vice versa, but it is definitely not a "regular" phenomenon. It'll be interesting to see how things go years from now, but as far as I'm concerned, I have no reason to expect the world to see gays eye-to-eye anytime soon.
To me, homophobia is the pervasive ambiance of negativity towards homosexuality. It doesn't need to manifest in outright objection. A simple feeling of disdain is enough to be considered homophobia in my book.
With that given definition, homophobia can manifest from homosexuals who are deep in the closet. Gays who are ashamed of themselves are demonstrating a level of homophobia.
I can no longer survive without my iPhone. It's become a part of my life, and there is no way I can function on a daily basis without it. Aside from phone/text usage, it's also my alarm clock in the morning, iPod for music, camera, calendar to keep track of shit, watch for time, and timer for sports. I also regularly check my email, stocks, weather, news, Facebook, and JPM Chase let's me manage my accounts on there too.
If it breaks, I'll die.
