Alex is deeper in the hormonal fog in this chapter. I look forward to finding out who the mystery 'kissee' is with Jake and if he is relevant to the story!

In the normal course of fiction, a big, emotional scene like this results in catharsis or an epiphany of some sort that establishes the scene's relevance to the course of the drama. The lack of such a gesture may mean that we readers will discover later that this scene is not part of the main drama of the story. Or maybe we find out that these are uncommonly oblivious characters that still need to be prodded into self-realization.

Nyx was just so clueless, vapid, giggly, entitled, rude, dismissive, spoiled, delusional. Ungrateful. I hated her. She sounds nice. -
I was not expecting the dead to be so petty in the afterlife... overlook, you know, the fact that someone killed them but get all irksome about removing footwear too quickly. SMH

Another beautiful chapter full of shared moments. I have to say that I would never have dared to bring a boyfriend and his Korean dumplings to my middle-class WASP family's barbecue. The ensuing donnybrook as we each fought to snarf down the lion's share would have entered family lore for generations. Christian's EMT training would have been useful. Also tamales. And batata vadas. -

This is such a fantastic view of Spain under the Franco regime. I have second hand anxiety from all the stress Ximo is under. After Admiral Carrero Blanco's automobile was blown 20 meters in the air and over the church, Spaniards reacted with their typical mordant humor, "Spain has it's first astronaut." The government's reaction was somewhat less jovial. -
Will Gigi and Noelle's actions lead to Evan and Nate exploring an attraction to each other? Could be some exciting changes coming up!

Interesting chapter, and I look forward to reading more. It sounds like Ryan behaved very badly before the story started, and I am not sure if he is the villain of the piece or just an incidental character whose role is now complete. -
Torryn's backstory sounds interesting. I love how the dragon displays more humanity than most actual humans.
