    There probably is a correlation between how drugs and how falling in love both affect the pleasure centers in our brains, one that is closer than we are comfortable with. Also eating good chocolate and petting dogs.

    We have quite a roster of characters here who need to be dragged behind the woodshed for a 'come to Jesus' talk. I can't decide who needs to be first, Veronica, Harry, or Zayn. Between the three of them, every meal is a battleground of toxicity, so much so that I am surprised the rest of the family puts up with it.

    I don't know if this is true elsewhere, but in the US, the legal system doesn't so much determine guilt as it determines if the prosecution can prove a case of guilt. Plus the defense lawyers are paid more if they go to trial, so of course the defendant is encouraged to plead not guilty!

    okay, so Zayn dug his hole a little deeper in this chapter, but seeing the awful family he has almost makes me feel sorry for him. River is still a winner in my book, though. Am I bad person for hoping a tsunami sweeps everyone away so River can find someone who deserves him? I'll behave now. Maybe.

    Colic is a serious and mysterious affliction. I worked with a woman years ago whose daughter screamed inconsolably for hours every night for months. The mom walked around like a zombie from the lack of sleep. Stopped as suddenly as it began.

    This is a great story, but now I have questions. Cooper broke down crying when telling why he was in the Catskills, which I can understand if he were innocent, but since he was guilty was he just manipulating Izzy into believing him? Also while Cooper is in prison, Izzy sells the general store. It wasn't an FBI front, but a legitimate business? Was FBI agent a side gig for Izzy?
