Alex was wrapped in a blanket, his head resting against Brian’s shoulder. Steve was leaning against the railing, the dopiest grin all over his face as he kept his arm linked with Kenny’s. They were a unified front, a constellation of loyalty. And that is what keeps us all going through the next two books!

A very intense chapter, full of drama and impact. Colby's wise insights are a highlight. -
This is a beautifully written, emotionally rich narrative that captures grief, aging, loneliness, and the tentative reawakening of connection with extraordinary sensitivity. The voice is grounded, intimate, and deeply human. The pacing is deliberate, in a good way, and the emotional arcs unfold organically, mirroring how real grief works: slowly, quietly, sometimes by surprise. Highly recommended.

A beautifully told story with an autumnal tone as Liam is numbed by Kevin's death. Adrien joins the regular cycling group and may trigger a thaw in Liam? Excellent writing.

Ugh! What an cast of reprehensible characters are arrayed against Julian. The two that display even a shred of decency, Dean and Clara, do as much to enable the cruelty of the others than they do to ease Julian's distress.

The lycan's ears pricked at the sound of panicked voices coming from the village. A growl caught in his throat. Something bad was going to happen. He could smell it. Crowe and Barghast have the beginnings of being a formidable team.

Based on his masterful negotiating the tricky waters here and his handling of several prickly personalities, Granger would be a formidable politician should his interests turn in that direction after the navy.

Aeden's hot head has him in trouble again, but as happens all too frequently, the bully's behavior is overlooked, and his victim is punished for reacting. -
Interesting. The voices in my head are campaigning for a ménage à trois, but they all have scandalously indifferent moral codes, so I usually ignore them.

A very exciting chapter. Steve's programming of Zephyr resulted in the dream scenario for the bottom 99%. The Pomeranian is about to undergo El Coyote's riff on neutering a dog, I suspect.

Baseball player Jody heads off to Chapel Hill to play for the University of North Carolina and get an education both in and out of the classroom!

This is an Old Skool burst of 'one-handed reading'. Weighty baggage such as plot and characterization are tossed aside in favor of steamy, gritty, grab-you-by-the-'nads sex action that delivers the heat. Highly recommended!

A highly recommended story of young men working through their feelings for one another while bonding over a love for chess. Mostly set in Sweden and the Netherlands a generation or two ago, it has a fresh and bracing outlook on complex social interactions.

Matthijs has so much sympathy from me as he navigates his unrequited feelings for Åke. A crush on a straight boy is a common trope in gay fiction, but an unrequited crush on another gay boy is a fresh take. Really fine writing. -
Crowe, a practitioner, and Barghast, an eight-foot-tall wolfman, join forces on a quest in spite of initial mistrust and a lack of common language and culture. There is a powerful connection that binds them in this beautifully written tale. The world building is masterful.

Then the voices began. Voices sounded from outside the pub. They were high-pitched, ringing with mock-joy, yet possessed a terrifying clarity. This is a terrifying development! Very creative.

“He told a couple kids I wanted him to do it but he didn’t want to. After that, I started getting called names. After a while I finally just gave in and admitted I was gay. There were still some assholes that kept calling me names.” We need a list of these delinquents starting with Kolter. They need to be taken out behind the woodshed for a little "talk". -
