    Star of Wonder

I have a friend who was born on Christmas. She never had a birthday party because her family celebrated Christmas in a big way. The year of her 30th birthday her sister-in-law stripped all of the Christmas decorations from her diningroom and put up birthday decorations then closed the frenchdoors to the room. When it was time to eat the meal her sister-in-law openned the doors and said "Surprise". My own birthday falls on January 3rd so I had a few of those combined gifts though my mum tried to keep them separate. Now I think it's kinda cool that my birthday is one of the 12 days of Christmas.
  2. Sorry to hear that.
  3. We already know that Page's diet would kill us but he's young and immortal and not any worse than we were way back when. Remember how tasty those double quarter-pound patty mastodon burgers were?

    Angelhair Pasta

I'll have to try this. I can get very fresh scallops here at mum's. The ocean is only five miles away and the boats land fresh seafood every day.

    Kimo Calendar

What lovely/loving glimpses into each month. They brought such pleasure. Thanks for sharing them with us.
  6. Yeah, sure you will ...
  7. Hence it being a unilateral agreement.

    Chapter 2

I like how you brought this to a resolution/close. Neither is where they were nor where they'll finally be but rather both are now aware of the journey before them. You write this type of story extremely well.

    Chapter 1

I'm curious to see where you take us with these two. Excellent start.
  10. Has taken quite a liking to the lad. Go pilfer from Val if you dare.

    Thanks Page.
  12. Thanks. I promise to take extra special care with him.
  13. Do you think he would like a warm freshly baked chocolate chip cookie? Mum and I baked a batch this morning.
  14. Impressive. You ventured into a new direction with a topic sure to evoke emotional response and came away with an excellent result. Namasté.

    Christmas Eve

I like the bits of nostalgia in this chapter, prods the old memory. It's not a skirt ... hot Cuban in plaid. I think you've got another hit.
  16. Of course you need to be strong for your family but they need to be strong for you too. This is something that effects all of you. I hope the medicine helps.

    Sweet Men

Interesting tradition, the sweet men sound tasty.

    Bus Crazy

I understand his frustration but as he admits it was a bit over the top. Of course the best part was the ending. I have eaten lace cookies in the past and enjoyed them though they were not hazelnut. I may give these a try as my mum is fond of hazelnuts.

It's amazing sometimes what a bowl of soup can do. You had me nearly in tears but then things turned around. Thanks for the story and the recipe. I'll have to give the soup a try but like @Page Scrawler I'll opt for smoked paparika. Mum is not a fan of sausage or bacon so a soup with both is a bit too much for her.

    Fire Punch

    Yes Page, please write that.
  22. I remember being a Flyers fan as a teen in the mid-70's. Now not so much, I've become apathetic.

    Lysander

I can see the three of them establishing a bond between them. Why the concern over wolves and a neko? Is there an instinctual dislike on the part of the wolves? Both Jordan and Sander seem fine with Damian. So was their initial guide Ryan.

Had to wait until age four ...

    Fire Punch

This sounds an amazing sight and tradition. I would imagine Cole's fruitcake a nice accompaniment. Thanks for sharing both the story and recipe.
