Yes, the scene was very powerful, heartbreaking, sad, happy, tragic and a thousand other words. I can understand that you couldn't let go easily, especially if you watch it many times because you are writing a poem. This really was a hard challenge. Anyway, Gary, this is an evolution to your first poem, the last two lines almost made me cry. When you, like me, had to read many stories, had to watch many movies and documentations about this time, because, justifiably, they want to hammer it into the following generation's head: NEVER AGAIN! and still learn something new, it has to be powerful. Your poem showed this.

You managed to be forceful and calm at the same time. I especially liked: das Wort/ ein Wort/ sein Wort and as Peter, the last two lines.

Thanks, Lisa! A real nightmare, huh? *hug*

You said it yourself: It's much closer in your native language. You took the weekend and the result is impressive. You have mastered the challenge.

Thank you for this comment, Peter. You're absolutely right, the last line means: the thought is what set me free. I'm not entirely happy with the line I wrote in English, so it would fit the rhyme scheme. I might change it eventually. All the better you understood the German version and I'm very glad you like it. It was much harder to write than the English Ghazal 'Smile'. I guess it's always better to understand the original version, alas, there are too many languages for that. But I understood some of the Dutch, as I should, because you are our neighbors.

Thank you, Puppilull! The scene was very captivating, a stolen moment is the perfect phrase.

Yes, it was the first title which came up my mind, but then, because of the sign, I almost discarded it. Then I thought of a song, my dad taught me long ago, so that I won't blurt out everything I thought. It fits perfectly. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_Gedanken_sind_frei Thank you, AC.

Thank you, Gary. I watched the scene many, many times. They are wonderful actors. They made it easy to feel. Too easy maybe.

Thank you, AC for giving me the opportunity. Describing what I saw was the first step to get closer. It was painful, exhilarating and I can't believe I smiled.

Thank you, Lisa. Every time I see those emaciated bodies, learn about the pain and torture they endured, it amazes me some of them still managed to smile, to love. Standing on the ground of Dachau made me shudder. I'm really glad you liked my poem. It means a lot to me.

It's exactly what I felt, watching this scene. Thank you, Gary.

The third part will hopefully be out in February.

Smile Smile. And I will know you do. Imagine. I can see you. I do. Can you see me smile? You will never know it’s true. Looking. You’re beautiful. Sexy Longing. Do you miss it too? No. I don’t want to miss it. If they notice, we are thru. Feel. My lips against your mouth. Taste. And then you will know who. Hot. I can feel your tongue’s touch! Together! You’re going to... Hear. My breath against your ear. Touch. Hot. So real. One. Not two They made love. They w

Freedom So far away on the other side, still it is not so very wide because of your words. You speak them only to me . And they become the steps I bestride . A place to find you, to kiss you, the thought is what me guide. This is not a word-for-w

Prompt 445 is easy. What are people doing without their coffee? Zombie apocalypse.

Thanks for the links, especially the second. Next lesson will be fun.

So, Bill says, "Aww turd!" Maybe: "Turd and excrement!"

M. has to memorize and recite a Shakespeare sonnet for school. Most important criterion: No ‘thee’, ‘thou’ and ‘hath’ and shit. My comment: I never found ‘shit’ in a Shakespeare sonnet before, so I googled it. I didn’t find any, thank God. His final decision fell on Sonnet 130. Next step: How do I pronounce this shit? Again with the shit… Anyway, for a German student that’s not an easy task. He needed some help and he found Stephen Fry: http://sonnets.touchpress.com/titles/shakespeares-sonnets/130/My-mistress-eyes-are-nothing-like-the-sun/ SONNET 130 My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun; Coral is far more red than her lips' red; If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun; If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head. I have seen roses damask'd, red and white, But no such roses see I in her cheeks; And in some perfumes is there more delight Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks. I love to hear her speak, yet well I know That music hath a far more pleasing sound; I grant I never saw a goddess go; My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground: And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare As any she belied with false compare. M. didn’t care this poem is a parody of the overdone love poems of Shakespeare’s contemporaries, nor that, in the end, it still displays ultimate love. But hell, after listening to Mr. Fry many times he did an almost perfect recital.

Yes it is.

Gary's reviews are perfect. Even when he wasn't happy with Jonah he still found kind words and trusted me to make it right. Can't wait for a cold and rainy weekend to start 'Cards on the Table' all over again. And I really miss Sasha.

Thank you, Reader1810. This time Jonah had to be the reasonable one. An unusual position for him, but he did good. Right? There will be more around the tenth of September, I guess.

Gary! So sorry, I overlooked your review. Thank you for your kind words, as I said before, the chase scene was kind of autobiographic. Sometimes you have to take a leap, and Romeo did.

Hey, how could I overlook your review? A belated thank you, Lisa. And well, the chase scene was kinda autobiographic, lol.

I'm glad I could be of service, lol. Thank you for the review, Reader1810.

Ah yes, the discussion threads, they are so inspiring. I believe your post convinced me to start posting my new story soon. Maybe one or two more chapters... I have one unfinished story yet, the others are collections, and I feel actually bad about it. I aim to finish all my stories eventually.
