    Flags Of Hate

On pride: If you can be proud of the accomplishments of your forbearers, you have to own their sins also. You can’t have only one of those in my opinion. If you lose a war, the victor dictates the rules. It has always been like this. They take what they want, what they can use, people, art, industry, land, know-how. They cast out the people they don’t want. Or they help, if it is convenient. And someday they can befriends again, or one nation. We apologized, and I think it was the right thing to do. On sins: You can’t offset sins against each other. They add. If you commit a sin, and in any place of the world, others do the same or similar things, it doesn’t alleviate your sins. Moral and ethics don’t work this way. My humble opinion again. The swastika has and still is a symbol for luck beside other positive things. The Nazis soiled it and therefore it can’t be used without negative connotation anymore. Using it means associating with Nazis and their ideas. We have to fight the unteachables here (in Germany) and in any other country all the time.
  8. I'm not here as often as I used to or want to. If I read stories or forum entries, I do that in the car, a hospital room or some hallway on my phone. Therefore I don't comment on them and I apologize. A member of my family is seriously ill and although she isn't my favorite person, she is still family and I support my family. I am writing and Cole agreed to beta-read for me. If it is any good there will be a new story from me, probably when summer is over. Thank you. aditus
  9. I'd be careful with words like 'any'. It's not a team sport but according to my sister a woman is holding the world record in deca ultra triathlon. And then there is horse-riding of course, which actually can be a team sport as well.
  10. Yes, there is a Football World Cup going on in Canada and we actually talk about it, watch the games, hear about it in the news etc., well some of us and some games. The general interest isn't as great as in the men's worl cup, but still. This time more Germans watch the games probably because we're greedy and want to make the double. And I think I'm not qualified to start an eye-candy thread for this world cup, maybe others will do that. Anyway, even the women like men playing football, but women - not so much. Girls don't play football in the streets or the schoolyard very often, boys do all the time. It's hard to overcome certain traditions I think.

Thank you, Cole! You gave me the right pointers and I have to say I'm glad how it turned out. The dialogue master...*blush*. And I'm sure it would have worked, you two are good together.

It was really nice to write the boys again. Can you believe Jonah was the responsible one this time? Thank you for the review, Lit. I'm glad you came back to the RRS world. There will be more coming fall.

Oh my, Romeo's butt must hurt by now. LOL Of course you all are absolutely right, but I think Julian did the right thing and Jonah's lecture helped. Thank you for the review, Wayne. The boys will be coming back in fall, I already have an idea.

I'm so proud of Jonah! LOL And as I already said, there will be the day I write someone you can kick and Carlos can slap around. Maybe it helps? Thanks, Tim!

Thank you, Val! It was fun to let Jonah be the reasonable for once, haha. I would have never thought, by the way, that you see yourself as the queen of anxiety. And I think Julian has everything under control, otherwise Carlos and Tim will gladly help, me thinks.

Ah, you always want to slap at least one of my characters around just a bit. Maybe we invite Tim and I write one of my special guys and you two can knock yourself out slapping him around. Could be interesting. What happens when they meet someone who draws them out? They'll be liked anyway or they get slapped just a bit. Thanks for your kind words, Carlos! (About my writing, not slapping around poor Romeo.

    Exit to Redemption

Yes, Pete wasn't a lovable character, but I have a thing for those who everyone hates at some point, especially if they turn around a bit, without losing their personality . Great job, Val.

    Boy River

Even though I didn't know Ben and Rush ( I do like their initials by the way), I loved the story from the beginning. I liked the background information you gave. It's very interesting to learn how these things are handled in another country. Your description was to the point, it helped to see everything and understand Clay's situation. The pacing was perfect. And I will definitely read about B&R, the things I learned about them in this story made me curious.

    Chapter 1

Wayne, I loved hearing about Charlie and Scott again! Their story was among the first I read on GA, I don't know if I was already a member then or just lurking. Anyway, I expect reading about their wedding next. Great job.

    Flight QF18

Well, they obviously had a lot of fun. I had too. I can't say anything about how well you described Miami, or Orlando or the other places you mentioned, I guess I need to do some more traveling. Oh - third!
  22. Sooo late.... Happy Birthday, Val!

3 PM The world's first recorded long distance road trip by automobile took place in Germany in August 1888 when Bertha Benz, the wife of Karl Benz, the inventor of the first patented motor car (the Benz Patent-Motorwagen), travelled from Mannheim to Pforzheim (a distance of 106 km (66mi)) in the third experimental Benz motor car (which had a maximum speed of 10 miles per hour (16 km/h)) and back, with her two teenage sons Richard and Eugen, but without the consent and knowledge of her husban
  24. Romeo is going to spend a romantic weekend with Julian. Jonah will take care of the coffee shop. Everything will be perfect. Until Romeo gets cold feet.
