    Now or Never

LOL, I'm not sure writing a one-off stand-alone dragon fantasy qualifies as 'finding my niche' but I appreciate the compliment. Also thanks for doing the proof reading. I agree completely with the attraction of dragons and princes.
  2. I enjoyed the first book and I quite liked the movie too. I never got much further with reading, but they're waiting on my bookshelves. I preferred Murtagh, too @Drew Espinosa but not for his looks.
  3. Good point, and I've done that too, as well as liking the reviews of course. But if only the author can reply, it might not be too bad in the story review section.

    Chapter 2

As always I have to read, think, and read again before I comment, to be sure I don't miss anything. I'll pose questions and theories knowing you'll me, but it's fun to speculate. So, are you setting us up for Mason to move into the place which is for sale near Liam and Clarissa's apartment ? If it's a three bed-room unit, he can let the other two to Kevin and Deon. I was impressed with Ben's ability to see how the Leopard family still included the AFL players, Dave, Deon, Jim, Ty and Paul. Dave knew it too, since he asks Charlie to warn the Leopards to go into protective mode. Let's hope the media strategy works, but I think the real danger is social media. I'm wondering whether Kevin and Daphne also turned up in order for her to 'come out' as transgender to the group of friends who hopefully will be part of her support in the years to come. I look forward to all of them going to the Mardi Gras parade together. Surely, Clarissa might unbend a little on the no-sex. I can see refusing intercourse as sensible, but I'm sure Deon will be happy to reach second or third base at some point. I'm guessing that's were Liam and Neil are by now. Not warning Mason may come back to bite his dad in the ass. On the other hand, it should take some time for the bad guys to find him, and Mason can relax and make some friends first.

Thank you, Dodger. I hope it may give you nice dreams. I'm completely awed by the response to this tiny slice of dragon fantasy, which was inspired by one of @Myr's book blogs.

Aaww, thanks, Brian. Such praise coming from one of my favorite authors definitely made my day. Seeing my anthology story at the top of the short Top Stories list helped too. Saying it's a slice of something bigger is pretty accurate, since i had to think about background stuff which didn't go into the story, but had to be there. Like, what does Gil do for a living, and why are there monsters (the made beasts). But I'm not sure I'll be able to tackle doing more, since writing fantasy is a major undertaking. I'll just be like @Myr and leave y'all pining for more.
  7. Interesting observation about the solar minimum years. However, I thought the theory of hurricane getting worse was based on higher average sea temperatures. I'm not sure, but I think the temperature of the sea, and perhaps also the air, determines the amount of rain the hurricane will bring. But it would still be within the overall arch of your explanation. I'm not a fan of climate change scares, since I think the main problem with the world is overpopulation.
  8. Or even better, in the story comment area. Some authors and readers are having fun with chatting there, e.g. @HinderToyBL's Crossing the Moon. I'm OK as a reader with not getting replies to any story reviews. I have to confess, I'm not being diligent about writing reviews on stories. But I'm pleased as an author that I'll be able to say in a direct reply to those readers who have very kindly left reviews on my short stories.

    Chapter 27

Aww, poor Zeru, he wanted to be part of the cuddles too. I hope Riley finds out he's a good guy, who can help Mick in the Unseelie court. Dust-bunny king And the conversation with his sister and mom was equal parts funny and heart-breaking. They must have been frantic. I can't wait to see their faces when he turns up with three boyfriends. Ooops - Tillykke med fødselsdagen fra Danmark

LOL, that might be fun, but... Wait, I've already gotten an idea. A gay dragon ?

    Now or Never

Tak, min ven. No, it's not Valdemar or Pern. The closest is probably the stories by Tamora Pierce. Dragon's only features in a few books, but they're interesting and the magic is diverse. I'm delighted you enjoyed my dragon tale, and liked the characters. I'm not sure I'll be able to write more, but if inspiration strikes, I'd be happy to revisit them.
  12. The forest man to the rescue. They'll be happy together - hopefully for a long time.
  13. I was delighted when I saw a button called Respond to this review on the three great story reviews left on my Anthology story. Now I could finally reply directly to reviews instead of using story comments. However, when I tried I got this error message: Sorry, there is a problem Something went wrong. Please try again. Error code: EX1054 Is the button a preparation for a later feature ? I can't recall seeing anything about it. I'm keeping my finger crossed, because it's a idea.

Thanks, Jeff. It's good to know the story can stand alone and worked the way I wanted. But I cherish the compliment of readers saying they'd like to meet Tar and Gil again.

Thank you, glennish, I'm delighted it found favor with you. LOL, yeah, that list is slowly growing, but I'm not making any promises. But who knows, perhaps I'll be inspired by another Anthology theme.

Thank you, Caz. Your opinion and approval is important to me.

Thank you, Carlos. It was fun trying out something different. After all the effort done to come up with themes and setting up the Anthology, I want to contribute by writing a story, and I was lucky to be inspired at the last minute.

Thank you, jp. I know you're very discerning about fantasy stories, so I'm thrilled you approve of my short dragon flight of fancy. Good point about the shift of hope for Tar's future.

Thank you, Albert, for always being positive, supportive and enthusiastic. I'm so pleased you enjoyed the story.

    Now or Never

LOL, yes I know I've done it again. Somehow, I always create characters and stories which make me want to write more. I guess I'm very lucky my readers feel the same and want to read more. But the fantasy genre is really difficult, because you have to do a lot of world building, make the magic logical, etc. So I'm not sure I'll be able to return to Tar and Gil anytime soon.

Thank you, Batman, it wouldn't have happened without you. It was only after I was almost done with the story that I realized having someone fall of a horse was similar to Finding Refuge. I'm pleased and flattered about your compliments, they make me smile every time I see them.

    Touch

Interesting how I went from disliking Eric and feeling sorry for Brian, to disliking Brian and feeling sorry for Eric. I wonder hos his parents will feel about having to accept the man who broke one son's heart as the partner of their other son. Hopefully, he has learned his lesson about ignoring the needs of his partner. I also hope Eric ends up with a wonderful guy.

    Ace

I'm glad he finally found something to identify with and that it brought him out of his fugue. In the old days he would have been the perfect monk, and it might have brought him recognition and respect.

    The Story

What a lovely long treat of a story even though it was full of fear, sadness, worry and pain. I was convinced I had read the story of the young Polish guy and started looking for it among your other stories. After a while, I realized I was thinking of @Puppilull's story.

    Chapter 16

Oh, I assumed he raised the alarm, but did the police really take him and his handicapped mother seriously ? Their behavior so far doesn't inspire confidence. Maybe they were lucky and got hold of someone who was interested in catching Mike.
