Seeing the flashback via Chuck's eyes makes the signs subtle, but we know exactly why Lee felt a bit awkward at their first camping and why he wanted Chuck to tell the funny story again. And now Lee feels a little awkward once more, seeing his best friend after a whole year, with the double strain of Chuck being in the army and Lee having come out to Chuck in a less than optimal manner (drunk and on Skype). But at least Chuck soon makes Lee relax and (probably) hope their friendship has survived separation and a long held secret. Considering the many boys who have suffered the loss of those they considered friends when they found the courage to be honest about that part of them, it's not surprising Lee was worried. Kudos to Chuck for not letting it come between them and for holding on to the important connection of friendship and shared memories.

A Reunion, Frankie fixes things, and Prudence has Guests
Timothy M. commented on Rigby Taylor's story chapter in A Reunion, Frankie fixes things, and Prudence has Guests
At least she's only bullying people who disturb her privacy - and her parents seem to be able to stand up for themselves. I mainly like her for making Prucence happy, and she's sort of Frankie's friend. Also as long as Frankie enjoys their company, I'll approve of them. -
Brad's friends seem to be ready to throw him under the bus. They held Buddy while he was beaten up, but the story Donnie tells have then trying to stop him. It will all depend on what Buddy can remember.

LOL, readers are never satisfied. I have tomorrow off (national holiday) so I've got time for editing.

A Reunion, Frankie fixes things, and Prudence has Guests
Timothy M. commented on Rigby Taylor's story chapter in A Reunion, Frankie fixes things, and Prudence has Guests
Did Frankie tell his parents about the idiot neighbor ? They could buy some land which was already raped and ready for a farm and offer to swap. I like Rika, she seems just right for Prudence. -
I like Aunt Mavis. She's sensible and realistic. But perhaps Buddy will get his break with Kyle's father taking an interest. Of course, when he finds out he didn't really do much damage in the car accident, he may decide to back off. I'm glad the police did their job properly with the dog. Hopefully they got Brad's friends as witness (with or without the pot) and will keep Brad in jail a little longer. But I guess he'll be out on bail, if Buddy wakes up and can talk.

csr June CSR Feature: Anthologies by Mark Arbour
Timothy M. commented on Cia's blog entry in Gay Authors News
I've read those stories several times. They always make my eyes blur with tears but warm my heart at the same time. I cannot recommend them enough.- 7 comments

Well the challenge of Europe would be to avoid cities and tourists and get off the beaten track. You can still find a lot of wilderness in Eastern Europe.

She's trying to convince him he shouldn't feel responsible for his kids. To me it seems like she's selfish and using Jeff for her own needs. He felt bad after sleeping with her. PLUS - even worse, she said Simon should go back to his father. Of course, she doesn't know he's gay, but I have a feeling it might not make much difference.
-
I think Jeff dislikes Simon's father so much he refuses to be in the same category as him when it comes to stupid beliefs. It's bad enough he has to admit he's as terrible a parent as Darcy is. Jeff did have a core of goodness and compassion, but it was eroded away in the war, in grief over his wife and finally in alcohol. Suzanne made the right choice, because Jeff need to hit rock bottom before he'll admit his problems and ask for help. And he need to ditch the witch of a co-worker asap.

It's nice to see him settle in as a teen in a good home and with nice friends. It's even nicer to see him stand up for how he dealt with a bully. All this don't hit back is BS. If you're called names, fight back with words. If someone hits you or a smaller guy for no reason at all, then decking him if you can is all right by me. And in fact he didn't really hit Jeremy offensively, all his moves were mostly defensive, to get him to stop. Jeremy would have kept hitting if Drake went down, but Drake would have stopped. And that says all you need to know as an adult to distinguish in a fight. Mrs Barker knew it, and that makes her an excellent principal.

No it's sent. I got it one hour ago at 3 pm Danish time, which is 6 hours ahead of eastern US.

Frankie should go backpacking in Europe, that would probably be more fun than a monastery in India.

When we edit posts in the forums, there is a box saying Reason for edit. Sometimes people write the most hilarious reasons which have us It's a great feature. The same box shows up when you edit status updates, comments on chapters, and comments on blogs, but when you save the edited comment, the text written in the Reason for edit box isn't visible. Probably the same applies to story comments and story reviews, but I haven't tried those. A recent example: I edited my comment in chapter 18 of Cia's Harbinger story. In the Reason for edit box I wrote Changed the number of sisters. It's not visible in the comment, but you can see the comment has been edited. It's not a big issue, I simply wondered if there was an explanation for this difference. If the reason to edit isn't meant to be shown in comments, why does the box appear as an option?

Bye For Now & Weekly Wrap Up (May 27 - Jun 2)
Timothy M. commented on Renee Stevens's blog entry in Gay Authors News
I'll second that. Take care of yourself, Renee, and we look forward to having you back in the fall. Good luck to Graeme on your new duties. As you know we can be an unruly lot at times. Just like having a bunch of loud kids running around shouting and arguing. -
I'm glad we got to see them in a good place, mentally as well as physically. Not so sure about Preston and Richard, but if forgiving them is a sign of Drake feeling confident and happy enough to shrug off past hurts, then I'm mostly in favor. After all, good behavior should be rewarded to reinforce the positive development. And Drake knows he might not have met Jimmy if Preston and Richard hadn't driven him away from his home town.In addition, negative feelings take up too much energy, and if Drake can get to a point where he's no longer defensive and anxious about Preston, he'll enjoy trips to visit his family a lot more. Congratulations on finishing another story which gripped your readers from the very beginning.

Thank you, dugh. Yeah, this time the story has to entice not only the readers, but also the author to write more. Gil's past is mostly a mystery, and their future might be together, but other than that your guess is as good as mine. My main motivation for the story was to have a dragon interact with the main character, and I'm delighted and awed this little snippet of a story gave such pleasure to my readers.

Chapter 11 Missing Pieces
Timothy M. commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 11 Missing Pieces
Well, I finally got around to commenting on this careful dance between two guys who are hoping for the same thing, but wary of hurting and afraid of scaring each other off. I loved the start of the conversation with Jimmy saying Drake should have lead with the important part. He must have realized Drake nearly didn't say it, that he nearly missed getting the most important part of the puzzle. Jimmy's explanation about wanting to not be gay struck a cord with me. How many of us have looked at a close friend and thought, if only she was a guy, or if only he was gay, free, or not out of my league? He wanted the impossible, but when he met Drake he realized he could be himself and still find someone to love. It also makes it understandable why he didn't look elsewhere. It felt safer to stick with Drake and becoming his friend while hoping for more than to go out and risk meeting someone like his exes. And we got a couple of Ohs in this chapter too. Altogether a very satisfactory resolution, when they finally got on the same page. And in the same bed. -
I wasn't sure which of your stories to leave this comment on, since most of them are wonderful at flaying humans for their senseless breeding and destruction of nature due to greed and stupidity. But I decided on this one, where you go for a future without Homo sapiens. I didn't believe my own eyes. One of the main media in Denmark has a headline today saying: If you want to do something about climate change, have fewer children. Finally, something sensible about how to save the world. Ugh, the data came from a Swedish study - oh well, you can't have everything.
-
I dislike embarrassing 'funny' stuff like most of the examples given above, and there will never be any silly comedy in my stories. I can do humor and friendly teasing with a bit of effort, and I like to make my readers laugh. But no slap-stick or ridiculous and humiliating behavior - ever.
-
Yeah, that does help. I'm not too far from the coast either (since Copenhagen is a harbor town), but living in the city is always warmer than the countryside.

Not really humid here, as we've hardly had any rain. Just dry and hot. A nice thunderstorm and a ten degree drop in temperatures would be appreciated.

Engagement & Capitulation
Timothy M. commented on Rigby Taylor's story chapter in Engagement & Capitulation
Sylvan was lucky she decided to attack first, then he could fight with a clear conscience. Of course, having Marie as an unknown ally was the reason the scheme succeeded. I'm glad she was happy and content with her life after the mean bitch. Australia seems somewhat savage to me. We're still obsessing about a riot 25 years ago when police fired their guns on protesters some of who were definitely troublemakers setting fires and throwing stones. There was an inquest commission, and while both sides were blamed the general feeling is the police top got off too lightly. The media report examples of harsh treatment and dig in if the police try to be evasive. On the other hand, they do report both sides of the matter, and trust in the police and other authorities is high. But i guess it helps that Scandinavian countries are among the least corrupt in the world. -
I'm HOT. Warmest May forever continues into June. Same in UK, I gather.

Sorry I sort of abandoned this chat. I didn't mean to, but things got busy. So, any Europeans around ? We could have a Eurovision song contest chat.
