Hmm, I don't seem to have Travis on the oral list. So where would he fit in? Is he before or after Gathan? -
GAP Chapter 48: What happens next?
Timothy M. replied to Mark Arbour's topic in Mark Arbour Fan Club's Topics
I'm all for the threesome too. It was the first thing I thought of (yep, dirty mind here ). But I think Zach might not agree. -
I look forward to reading all the stories, although it may take me a while, because life is too busy right now. I just realized right now that the anthology story I edited was my 100th GA line-editing job. So that's a nice anniversary too.

Denmark was all set to celebrate our Queen Margrethe's 50 years' reign this weekend, but that has been toned down quite a lot out of respect for the passing of Queen Elizabeth. I'd guess most Danes are able to emphasize with the loss, as we know a similar situation is awaiting us some years in the future.

Zach and Will have their issues, but they're still good for each other in so many ways.

I wonder what D'gar said to Lessa, who probably does not know the story of him being forced to Stand. Hortaimin is such an idiot, since he would have seen Jevikel's name on the list. It would have been much more clever to taunt him with Kadin's name being absent, but then he would have suffered the embarrassment of Kadin being added later.

As someone who prefers books to sailing I agree utterly with Anson.

The Consequences of Violence
Timothy M. commented on Mawgrim's story chapter in The Consequences of Violence
I'm glad Jevikel showed how sensible he is by obeying D'gar and going to the kitchens to do his punishment job. Most of the other boys soon came to their senses too. And full time kitchen duty for the last two will keep them out of trouble, but it will probably not change their attitudes. I'm betting it won't be long before most of the Weyrlings will be considering Jevikel as their leader in the sense that he's the one they'll go to if they need support and good advice. Especially if the weyrbred boys continue the silly teasing and snobbery towards hold lads. -
Denmark: Basic school (year 0 to 9) started last week, ending last week of June. High school: probably the coming week until mid June. University and college: September to June.
-
I'm glad Turmevon spoke up, not just for Jevikel's sake, but because it shows Turmevon is brave and honorable, and he can become a good friend. D'gar continues to impress me as Weyrlingmaster, he knows what to look out for, and he does his best to teach the boys useful stuff. I liked how he explained what the proper ratio of dragons are.

I'm just waiting for J'rud, H'rek or D'gar to overhear the Holder lads picking on the boys, and given them a well-deserved put-down. Even if they don't impress a green, they'll be beholden to the guys who do, when their dragons want to join a green mating flight. I really hope D'gar will cover this aspect soon, since he knows first hand from H'rek how bad it is when they are unprepared.

Chapter 158 Blown & Tossed by the Wind
Timothy M. commented on Dodger's story chapter in Chapter 158 Blown & Tossed by the Wind
Let's hope only the pastor drowns, since unfortunately Don isn't there to get what he deserves. Horrible pricks both of them. -
I like how D'gar is introducing them to the work and duties of Weyrlings and explaining at the same time. He'll have to do it again when the rest of the candidates arrive. Five weeks to get them ready isn't much time. I think Wybral may be OK with samesex parings, and Illithal will soon get used to the idea. Peer pressure from (green) riders and the other candidates will soon fix his attitude. But if not, they can sic Bavi on him.
-
Matters are progressing nicely, but I bet the boys will feel rather intimidated with Ramoth hovering over them as they visit the eggs. But maybe Lessa and D'gar will take pity on them, and ask Ramoth to go feed on a heard beast instead.
-
D'gar is already showing some of his sterling leader and teacher qualities. I wonder if this idea of letting the candidates try different dragons beforehand is something he has come up with or it's a Five Weyr tradition. I like that we get to see both D'gar and the boys developing as we read the story.
-
It's most embarassing, but I cannot remember how I came up with that idea. Sorry
-
Sigh, I used to like Jack. When did he become such a stuffy old man? He should stand up to his wife more and tell her to stop the control act before her children leave or come to hate her.
-
I'm glad to see the boys being fine with spending time apart, but still checking in with each other and sharing their experiences - and some intimate moments as well. Jevikel was openminded about D'gar perhaps being nicer than the upset man they met after the rescue when Bavi, H'rek and J'rud talked about him. He didn't seem to pay much attention to the fact that D'gar had lost his first love and weyrmate, but I'm sure he'll remember later. He's good at thinking things over and connecting the dots. Kadin is bound to become popular with his ability to play and his outgoing personality.
-
Kemi's weyrmate is not a green rider. We actually haven't been told whether he is a blue or a brown (or even a bronze). When Kemi talks about Sh'ros dragon (Bruganith) not being involved, it's as a male dragon chasing a green. So he's more likely to be bi, than if he was a green rider. Or he could be mostly straight, but accepting of the occasional mating flight.

The Board doesn't know what is about to hit them. And I'm off to update the list again.

Zorleth must have liked them a lot, since she spoke to them. But maybe it's also part of testing how suited they are. I'm glad they're asking questions and forming their own opinions about what they see and hear, and not just relying on the other lads.

I liked the comment about most riders flying both ways. Makes sense, and it would be an advantage for the weyrs.
