  1. Lol i regularly get the little squiggle saying it's is incorrect, but if I change to its I get the same result. I know and use Drew's test, but thought perhaps Cia could shed some light on why it's the only exception to the posessive rule.
  2. It's vs its also! Some days the computer correction program can't even make up it's mind!
  3. I would imagine that new word to be "disclude", since it does not appear in my dictionary.
  4. With a goodly portion of the family still in Claremont, and Gathan having shown an interest in the towns political structure in past stories, I can easily see a goodly portion of the next story taking place there. Midwest towns have huge patriotic tendencies, and I am sure enrollment in the military will go up there, as well as the new Triton plant possibly needing to increase the manpower. Will be interesting to watch how JP deals with his dream of revitalizing his hometown comes about financed in part by war, something JP is so steadfastly against.
  5. where do these people keep getting these great pics???? Happy Birthday Cole! Have a wonderful love filled day!
  6. Speaking from personal experience there certainly was much more cursing and even a few death threats.
  7. I guess I am just not understanding the issue. Your stories are all about love and commitment, permanent bonding, being there for one another, and helping others. What's his beef? That your main characters happen to not be human? That guys fall in love with guys? Last time I looked homosexuality was not a choice, it is the way God made some while making others hetero. Ask the old fool if he thinks God made a mistake? You do whats right for you and your family. And while I understand that your daughter might prefer to stay with her friends, do you really want her being preached to by someone that narrow minded?

    Get Tested

One has to wonder, if the boyfriends other half hadn't come home with something, would hubby have ever fessed up? Teddy bears may be cuddly, but they are still bears, don't go pissing them off!
  9. Start by walking! Pick interesting places with pretty things to look at. Rainy day? Hit the mall and look into every shop on each side of every isle. We have walking trails in every park and along an old barge canal here. The beaches have boardwalks and paved walks. and starting about this time of the year eye candy too. Several old rail beds here have also been converted to walking paths. I can walk every day for more than a month and not do the same trail twice. Sometimes I need to drive to the walk, but that's worth it for the variety.
  10. Juicy, and giving him up to 300 yrs of history to play with all over again. I can easily see Wade's family being some of the first Virginia residents. Oh - and just because Mark HASN'T jumped 10 years at a clip so far does not mean he cannot or will not. That was a number to use for an example, however. Not a suggestion Mark!
  11. Call me strange, but I don't see it as odd for a dude of any age to want to see his father once a week or so. And this isn't just one generation we are speaking of here. For all intents and purposes JP is Brad's father and one would think Brad would want to see him regularly as well. But then, maybe I am the odd one. I enjoyed spending time with my parents and we socialized regularly as adults.
  12. There are times and places in every country where some subjects cannot be discussed openly. There is so much wrong with that it is unreal, but it is a fact of life. So we start in places like GA and hopefully the understanding can grow and spread.
  13. There is a simpler explanation for the slow down of time passage. Mark is now into the early new millennium. He has approximately 12 years of history left to work with. If he jumps ten years into the future with the next book he will shortly run out of historic happenings to reference in his work. Would any of you want to sit around waiting for something momentous to happen for Mark to use in a subsequent story?
  14. Enjoy a day full of Love and Happiness! You give your readers much enjoyment and you deserve the same in return!
  15. An interesting start. One wonders why his attackers happened to be in the right place at the right time.
  16. Happy Birthday ! Have a great day!

    Thank A Teacher

The unfortunate truth is that most classrooms, even in the more affluent middle classes, are woefully underfunded. I have seen the lower middle class families who can barely put food on the table be more supportive of increases in school budgets than the people who could easily afford a few extra bucks on the school taxes. They understand that an improvement in education will lift their children to the next levels. Piper is right in that teachers should not have to spend their own funds, but thank God so many do! They make the difference for hundreds of children every year. Money is not the only obstacle to a good education anymore however. The dramatic increase in testing at all levels pulls away from classroom time, and in some cases shows nothing more than that students have been taught how to take a test. While it is important to assess how a school is performing, can't we find a better way than to pull so much time away from teaching the core curriculum to prepare the children for the latest round of testing? But we digress. Tet is 100% correct, teachers do so much for our children. Support them, and not one day or one week a year! If you have a little extra cash on shopping day, buy an extra box of tissues, or pencils, a box of crayons, anything that might be appreciated in a classroom, and send them in. Believe me, every teacher I know will appreciate it! I would say if you can read this, hug a teacher, but that too has become a problem. We ( teachers, aids, administrators, and volunteers alike) cannot show any affection of any sort to students for fear of it being misinterpreted. And that is a shame really because sometimes a simple hug makes all the difference.
  18. Happy Birthday and May you enjoy many more!
  19. Wings regularly gets calls from her grandmother to come fix her %@#$ing TV again. (Yes that is exactly what she says.) She just does not seem to understand you cannot change the channel with the up and down buttons on the TV itself you have to use the ones on the cable box or the remote.
  20. Happy Birthday PUP! I would suggest a fun filled day, but I happen to know the reason you are offline and not around at the moment is because today is MOVING DAY! Enjoy your new home and congratulations!
  21. When aristocracy, pregnancy and legitimacy are all involved I guess the faster the better! Personally I will not be convinced Alex is actually the father until after DNA testing proves it!
  22. Unfortunately with a lot of public assistance programs there is absolutely no incentive to get off of the rolls. Yes, unemployment insurance is limited, but welfare, food stamps, and many other programs are not. In fact some are administered in such a way as to discourage you from trying to better yourself. If you do find a part time job your food stamps can and often does get reduced by the amount you make. A young lady I know on permanent disability due to birth defects has her state check docked by percentages. Make so much, lose this percent. When at the lower end of a tier her percentage of reduction outstrips the amount she made, so she ends up living on less money. With the physical exhaustion her disability causes on top and why should she go out and work when to stay home and comfortable pays her more? The same applies to things like drug rehab programs. The methadone programs in our state are well administered and supervised. It has been very successful in getting people off of heroin. But there is no requirement to get off of the methadone. Several years ago I needed to research the program to get a union member into treatment. At the time approximately half of the methadone patients had been on the program for 5 years or more, and a goodly portion of those had found a way to abuse the methadone, in essence getting social services to get them high.
  23. Happy Birthday Bro! May your skies be bright, your helmet be ventilated and the streets be clear of sand and debris! Go enjoy your day on your bike!
  24. Was a nice diversion as I sat here on hold getting insurance quotes for the business!
