Excellent that your grams is good for at least the next year. Now if only the govt would get its head out of their posteriors. There is no reason for a woman who paid into the system for all those years to have to have endured that sort of stress while there are people who are doing nothing more than having babies to increase their monthly allowances!

There are always going to be terms that a particular group takes offense to. In the 1900's when immigration was so heavy they devoted an entire island in NY harbor to processing immigrants, the term WOP (with out papers) was coined. Once people got to ethnic neighborhoods WOP became one of the worst insults you could toss at an immigrant. Now you seldom hear the term in spite of the extent of illegal immigration. Any term that intentionally ( or unintentionally ) is taken as derogatory is only given life by people allowing themselves to be offended by them. My grandmother refused to be intimidated by being called a WOP, my neighbor refuses to be upset at the term "nigger" and I believe people with compromised health status ( regardless of what compromises it ) should react similarly to "clean" and any other term. Funny tho - I just visited my oncologist - and was pronounced "clean" meaning my cancer had not returned. Made me feel pretty good, but would not make me think the lady who unfortunately had less happy news "dirty". As I understand the term it is short for having "a clean bill of health". That is something I would wish for everyone.

I am not in any way surprised that Cody wants to be a part of Maddy's life. I can still see grams and gramps making a big fuss, maybe even trying to sue for custody based on Cody being gay. If it were ever to get to a custody hearing I can see Will provoking the old man into a prejudiced and homophobic outburst that would pretty much seal the courts decisions. Freakishly emotional is what I said it would be if Will discovered that the firefighter was the J. Martinelli that had impressed him in the stairwell, and you didn't let me down Mark. In fact tying Joey to the family both thru his relationship with John Carullo and being a relative of Tony Carbones just made everything "more". Ok - so the man wasn't the tunnel to towers runner, he was still a hero in anyone's book. Two out of three ain't half bad on predictions! Yes - I know you will point at me taking one sentence out of many. However - I have a real issue with the idea of some of today's "rap artists" getting the same sort of notoriety as the Beatles did. The idea that kids are even listening to music that seems to have the f-bomb at least three times in every sentence and glorifies the killing of police and raping and mistreatment of women makes me ill. For these people to "come into their own spotlight" would further warp the already skewed ideas of a lot of today's youth.

I really freaked my older cousin out when I asked her what was so great about the beetle bugs. Don't get me wrong, while i was too young for Shea Stadium and the Ed Sullivan show I still grew up with their music and enjoy it. I just didn't get all the swooning the older gals were doing!

I've found asking for the hall elders name to explain that several of the congregation do not understand the word no works pretty well. It is advice given me by an elder from one particular group but has worked on several different denominations so far.

Yes! Cody is stepping up! He may not be in a position to raise Maddy, or even want to do so, but as the daddy its his place to make the decisions on who will do it! I can see grams and gramps making a fuss - but the bottom line is unless Cody signed away all parental rights legally, grams and gramps don't have a leg to stand on! And I want to know more about this not letting them be alone with the kids angle! I find myself wondering if that service tomorrow for the firefighter is the one for the guy that ran from the tunnel to the towers in full turnout gear? Would be freakishly emotional for Will to realize that guy was the one he spoke to in that stairwell that impressed him so much! I am again getting the feeling that someone had better have JJ's therapist on speed dial. Pressure is building in that young man! Will's maturity is showing. But he is under an enormous amount of stress between his own grief and trying to be there for everyone else too. How long before the 15 yr old side of him pop's out and he really looses it? You are again hitting on all the "hidden" emotions that go with loss. Will's comment about how the service sucked to me said " bad situation, sucked, really don't want to be here". To Darius, who had done most of the arrangements it meant something totally different, and you showed that beautifully.

Odd - suddenly there are member titles not on the "member title list" that have been applied to some of us. Do you really think calling someone a "chatty member" is encouraging their participation? Perhaps its regional, but where I was raised calling someone "chatty" is pretty much telling them they should shut up!

The only problem I see with your logic rjo is that Brad is not limited to the current cast of characters. Mark can and probably will introduce more people who very well could catch Brads interest at some time in the future. If not in this particular work, then there is always the next book in the CAP saga.

I agree, the teacher was being extremely callous, but it does happen. I remember very clearly a teacher talking about one girls unplanned pregnancy in high school in front of the class, telling her that he was not going to cut her any slack because of her condition. He did eventually lose his job over it. It did have the mentioned effect of having the entire school become aware of the situation in record time, but since she was trying to keep it quiet till summer break...

I can't wait to see what happens when Brad handles the teacher! I know how I would have reacted if a teacher had been so ill behaved with my daughter, and I am not prone to over reacting the way Brad has been lately. I have to agree, its nice to see Brad and Will actually talking to each other instead of at each other. As usual, you evoke all the strong emotions. Thank you.
