    Chapter 7

Very interesting twist. They need to find the secret entrance to the hidden half of the basement.
  2. Fae Briona

    Chapter 6

Scooby-Doo taught kids my age that monsters do exist -- and they are us.

    Chapter 5

Tesla was quite definitely the mad genius and, in many ways, too far ahead of his time for his ideas to be understood.
  4. Came home early to clean up some of the limbs that got torn down - figure the more I'm able to do the less I'll have to pay someone else to clean up; though some if it will have to be cleaned up be a professional, as there were a few large diameter limbs that came down in the ice storm. Promised SP that I wouldn't over do it, but after picking up the mess the dogs left [seriously, how do they manage to spread their food over half the living room floor‽] I'm already hurting and haven't even been outside yet.
  5. Today was not a good day - pain level was extremely high. Our fourth and final wave should move through later this evening and overnight, but that will bring high winds to ice-damaged tree's so there could be more limbs dropping. Luckily, we got less ice here than the Capital area did. What we got was quite enough.
  6. Out of the Ice Storm this morning but could have a strong thunderstorm w. strong winds and hail this morning. LOTS of limbs down all over -- 5 or 6 from the tree in my side yard, and a few from the tree in the neighbors house behind me. One of those broke a picket on the fence and I'll need to find a way to push it over into their yard. Welp -- here's the thunder!
  7. We still have power this morning, though there are over 100K out of power in the OKC metro-area (we have less ice here than they do there). Campus is closed so we slept in -- quite a bit later than normal. Shocked the furry kids hadn't tried to wake us up or left "gifts" for us on the floor. Looks mainly wet looking out the window, though I know that is deceptive.
  8. This is the earliest we've had an "Ice Storm Warning" issued in the state. Lost power for about an hour this afternoon (along w. ~720 other households) and we have another round of freezing rain moving in overnight. Big issue is the leaves are still on the trees, which increases the probability that limbs will drop -- taking out power lines along the way. You'd think in a state that regularly has little things like extremely powerful thunderstorms, high winds, and tornadoes that most lines would be buried, but you'd be wrong. With the hard clay soil it's cheaper to just replace / repair the lines when they get taken down than it is to bury them; and because Utilities are generally a for-profit business in this country, there is no incentive to spend more $$$ up-front in order to insure uninterrupted electrical service.
  9. One of my favorite Twilight Zone episodes; a true classic.
  10. Our rain starts overnight, when the cold front moves in. We'll break records Monday and Tuesday for lowest high -- will be just 35F on Monday; our average normal low is 48F.
  11. Typical fall weather here --- will hit 80+F tomorrow, then drop to 50F on Friday, and drop farther on Monday/Tuesday. So I expect to be on the couch in pain all day tomorrow as the air pressure rapidly rises. Only good news is two nights of a hard freeze should kill off the ragweed and reduce my allergies.
  12. I'll second this thought -- family counseling may help.
  13. He's a Jack Russell Terrier and about 15 -- yes, fifteen -- years old. Girl is a mix (cattle / sheep hound), and only about 7.
  14. Took Little Man to the vet this morning - they think he has a version of old-man doggie vertigo, but are going to put him on antibiotics to make sure there isn't an underlying ear-infection causing it. Has SP and I stressed out. At the more extreme end is brain tumor / stroke. Love the little guy, and hope he'll be ok; but he is very old for his breed.
  15. I've tried crochet but not knitting - about the only thing I can achieve is a single continuous line.
  16. Mom's headstone is going to be delayed, because the company that makes the brass/bronze/whatever plaques put on the marble base was shut down for awhile, and is not backlogged.
  17. I have tried it, from a reputable source w. testing certification, and it did help w. the pain -- but it also caused my blood pressure to go up, something it's not supposed to do.
  18. SP and I are going to start pre-marriage counseling next week. Expect it to be a bit rough, but good in the long run. There are things in his past he thinks he's dealt with, that I don't think he has. We've had a few difficult conversations the last week -- not helped by my pain level having been extremely high for three days now -- but we'll work through things.
  19. Trying to keep my pain to tolerable levels -- we have another front coming in overnight w. a 20F drop in temp and 50mph wind gusts (20+ mph constant).
  20. Sorry dinner didn't go well. Always disappointed when a recipe that sounds so good on paper turns out....not
  21. We're going from an absurd 92F today to 75F tomorrow, the doing it again Wed. to Thurs -- this is going to be a long long week for the joints.
  22. Today is dad's 99th birthday. The center set up a sign out front saying, "Honk to wish *** a Happy 99TH!"
