Oh Kevin! I'm so sorry this is hard for you right now. Whenever I've had to either let go of someone or allow them to let go of me, I tend to think of this poem. Now whether or not it'll help you I don't know. I have no idea who the author is, but I'm sure you've read it before. Reason, Season and Lifetime .. People always come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. When you figure out which it is, you know exactly what to do. .. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed outwardly or inwardly. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, or to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or even spiritually. They may seem like a godsend to you, and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. ... Then, without any wrong doing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. ... Sometimes they die. Sometimes they just walk away. Sometimes they act up or out and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and it is now time to move on. ... When people come into your life for a SEASON, it is because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They may bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season. And like Spring turns to Summer and Summer to Fall, the season eventually ends. ... LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons; those things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person/people (anyway); and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas in your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant. This is the best internet hug I can give! - Kaiten

I'm very glad that you were here as well. Hey Kevin! It's amazing how it always seems to be the small things in life that, while usually overlooked, can lead you to a new and entirely different adventure. It is sad when you leave behind familar things, try as you might, you really can never go back to them. More often than not, because you grew beyond them. You're a great example of someone who has stretched their limits and created new ones. I have a feeling that you've figured out, in the last two years, who YOU are and what your expectations are in life. That's something to be very proud of. I'm sorry to hear that your friends are moving. I knew they were getting married but didn't realize they were moving as well. On a bright note, this gives you an excellent reason to travel...plus there's always the internet to help stay in contact. In Kitty's response she quoted Robert Frost. That got me to thinking about his poem "The Road Not Taken" and I thought it sort of fit with the theme... it's always been a favorite of mine. Still it is a relief to know that no where out there is a white rat having to endure "radiant, non-oily skin" *gasp!*. We all know they don't test condoms on animals. Rodents have notoriously poor access to birth control. This is of course how rabbits got such a bad rap. Of course they don't test those coming out books on animals either. I've always called it either a water fountain or a drinking fountain. Although I did ask a lady at work who once lived in Wisconsin and according to her...where she worked everyone called it a bubbler. lol And that was without prompt from me.

Hmmm...I really love hugs. But they are pretty rare for me. My family was never one to hug one another and it's only been in the last few years since my nephew has been born that we've all started hugging each other when we all get together (my family is somewhat far from me). In general I'm very uncomfortable with strangers hugging me. It creaps me out, I get tense, and whoopie now I have another headache. But once I get to know someone and trust them I'm all for hugs, it just takes a while. My absolute favorite hugs are bear hugs. I'm on the short side and I have to say I love being swallowed up in someones arms and just held. Because I know how uncomfortable I am with hugs, before I give one I always ask if the person wants one. lol Once permission has been granted, with someone the same height or taller than me, I step in close, wrap both arms around the other persons chest and hold them to me firmly with my head resting either on their shoulder leaning against their head or against their chest. Not a sqeezing death grip, just a firm bear hug. With someone shorter than me my left arm goes over their right shoulder and my right arm wraps around their waste...repeat as above. But my absolute favorite is for someone to just hold me. If I'm comfortable with the person, I can stay hugging for a long time, very relaxing and I like the feeling of safety. And yes...I love online hugs. Sue me. They're sweet. I hope everyone's having a decent week so far...and if you're not... - Kaiten

I have to agree with you Robbie. After reading that last chapter I started to think that "at this moment" there is only one person: Oliver. But I also think that there used to be two: Oliver and David. As I was reading this I couldn't help but think that David had been killed and Oliver, witnessing this tragic event, withdrew into himself. At that point...he either willingly started to display his brothers personality so to not be alone with his parents or his parents encouraged this split persona so to cover up the fact that their other son was missing. Hey Kevin, That's a very very true statement. Have you ever watched "shallow hal" with Jack Black? That's pretty similar to what the movie's getting at. Is everything all right? It's like the statement "take the time to stop and smell the roses", by not stopping and paying attention...we let a lot of beautiful people slip through our fingers. I've got two tattoos...one on my lower back (which hurt like hell by the way ) and one on my ankle. I was actually surprised that the ankle didn't hurt, lol which is probably why I was dumb enough to go back a second time! I have to admit, I do have the classic "girly" tattoos of a butterfly (back) and a flower (ankle)...but there is a reason/meaning to both. Meaning...rebellion...same thing right??? So here's a question to you all...I know the lower back hurts like none other...does the rest of the spine hurt as well/as much? I'm assuming so...but I'm curious. I would really like to get another tattoo...but I've sort of run out of places to put them that are "out in the open" but still capable of being easily "hidden" and I would kind of like something along my spine...or not. The whole bravery thing/i'm-a-wuss-and-don't-like-pain thingie is another HUGE factor. Oh well, plenty of time to think on it right! OH! The coolest tattoo I've ever seen was the 23rd Psalm written on a man's back with a pair of folded hands next to it. It just looked really cool. lol That and the huge wolf on his shoulder blade!
