    Chapter 1

When I lived on campus, my room was directly across from the laundry room. The good thing was that I always knew the best time to throw my laundry in. The bad thing was that all my friends wanted to hang out with me while they did their laundry, which was fun, but not when I had to study. I got real good at rummy though, since we'd play rummy while we waited. I have to say I never did laundry in the pool I don't think anyone would have appreciated barn clothes being washed in the pool I also don't think I could have tolerated the chlorine smell But this was a cute story and funny. And you know we won't let you get away without a sequel

  3. I just hit a 1000 day learning streak on the language app I'm using to learn German (it will be 1006 today), and came across a couple of sentences I thought were perfect for first line prompts. PT Prompt #133 - First line "What are you cooking, and why does it stink?" PT Prompt #134 - First line "Why is your underwear in the swimming pool?" Please include the prompt number either in your story/chapter description or title to help readers who would like to search for specific prompts. Also, please remember that stories less than one thousand words must be posted as part of a collection If you check the subgenre 'prompt' in your story tags, then people/readers can find everything here: https://gayauthors.org/stories/browse/subgenre/prompt/

  5. In 2015, GA offered the first of a series of secret author contests, Secret Santa. I thought revisiting this contest would be great for inspiration for our latest secret author contest. There were 21 stories submitted for the Secret Santa contest... can we beat that number for our "secret" secret author contest? Link to all Secret Santa stories: https://gayauthors.org/stories/browse/?filter_categories=80& Information about the current contest:
  6. I love short stories! The majority of stories I write are short stories, mainly because I don't have the time to write anything longer. I agree about the rules. I like to use short stories to explore and answer questions that randomly pop into my mind. That's what most of my anthology stories are lol
  7. Now that our awesome poetry anthology has wrapped up, it's time to take a look at what's coming up next. Submissions for the Secret Story Contest are due to Cia by July 1st. More information can be found here: Submissions for the Leap of Faith anthology are due to the proof team by October 1st. I am working on updating the guidelines and will post them soon. In the meantime, get started on those secret author stories! Just don't tell us about it

    Old Coats

I love the memories interwoven into each coat. I also have a cedar closet full of old coats. Somehow I can't bring myself to part with them whenever I bring donate clothing. I enjoyed these very much.
  9. I enjoyed these a lot. Especially the one about Som and the geckos eating the mosquitos. You're off to a wonderful start! Keep up the great work!
  10. Haiku are a perfect way to start with poetry. I like these a lot. They are very descriptive and well done. Great job!
  11. I did Taking phonetics seriously screwed up my spelling. I was an excellent speller before that class, and afterwards I found myself having to think about how to spell things properly. I wouldn't trade my job for anything, though.
  12. Well the description has me intrigued. I need to know if Seth gets his ramen!
  13. That was my favorite line as well. To me, this poem has the feel of spoken word poetry. I like the intermittent rhyme thrown in and the overall feel of the poem. You've definitely taken us on a journey of exploration. Thank you for participating in the anthology!

    ...and more.

Chocolate covered insects never even occurred to me when I first read these The rest sounds delicious, though. Turtles are chocolate covered caramels with pecans. 🐢

    Chapter 1

They were written about a group of people, which included JW, although Sandcastles was about one person in particular. There were definitely some relationships that went beyond friendship. Thank you for the lovely comment.
  17. Today will be a good day for me to catch up on reading the poetry anthology, since it's going to rain all day.
  18. I'd like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make the return of the GA Poetry Anthology a huge success! We had 14 poetry submissions to read, all of which are linked to below. If you haven't already, I highly recommend checking them out and leaving our site poets a comment, reaction, review, recommendation, or all of the above! Based on the reception of this year's anthology, I think it's safe to say it will be back again next year. So thank you, site poets for your incredible contributions, and thank you, site readers for supporting our poets with so many lovely comments and reviews! Putting together GA anthologies is very much a team effort, so I would also like to thank everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this anthology possible. 19. I'm sending you a PM.
  20. @Cia has addressed any issues with anthology entries with the authors directly. This year's poetry anthology is now complete, and there will be a wrap-up this Thursday, as Cia mentioned. I had planned on two entries myself, but did not get my second one completed in time, so will be posting it later this month once I manage to actually finish it (It's my first attempt at skyscrapers). I would agree about making poetry month 12 months long, but I have enough work to do lol I'm thrilled to have such interest in the poetry anthology, though. I'm exhausted, not feeling well, and heading to bed now, so any additional concerns should either be addressed to Cia or I will respond to them tomorrow when I get home from work.

    Anthony and Silas

Being a caregiver is definitely challenging. We need more people like Anthony and Jordan in the world. Thanks for bingeing this story. I'm enjoying reliving it through your comments
