Seems to me the owls got tired of losing the battle and tailor made a super meta. WW, vampire, human and perhaps something other (?). Luckily, he also turned out to be supersmart.
-
He was so seriously fucked up nothing surprises me...
-
Exactly! As for a list... it's a bit hard to just Google 'famous teen 1900'...
-
Unless it's any random person perishing due to hardship (could totally be the case considering who wrote this thing...), shouldn't we be looking for someone who died young but still has some noteriety? Someone under the age of 20?
-
Humans really aren't very nice...
-
He's also supposed to be broadshouldered, muscular and over 6 ft. That would be hard to disguise.
-
As for no 2, I just thought about what hardships there were in the early 1900s. The Russian revolution fits that part at least. Then again, a lot of hardship was going on. Apart from China, we haven't heard a lot about the rest of the world. South America had a queen. Quite a lot of hardship there. But I can't think of anyone to guess on there.

Rasputin is supposed to very goodlooking, but from pictures I find it hard to imagine him fooling anyone he's a woman...
-
Ok, if the mormon guy is one of them (it seems to fit somehow), then I would think we need to get to into the 1900 for no 2. What about Alexei Nikolaevich? I kind of like the idea of a hemopheliac fighting the vampires... He was extremely hard to kill according to sources at the time. Owl Power!! Just a thought. Russia has been mentioned enough for it to be important.

A Mormon WW? Brian would like that...
-
Then who started a cult in those years? Lenin? But he killed a lot of people. I'm too ignorant about other parts of the world to make guesses outside Europe.
-
But then Jesus is out? Or did I misunderstand you?
-
We only know one German pack? But way back then I don't know. Maybe he chose before he had a pack? During the 1920s. There are a few in his circle I would peg as vamps. Nasty enough... 1800 BC I assume. Many, many people... Since the owls talked about 'his' and 'him' for all of the possible WW's, I discarded the female guesses. J d'A was just a cheeky suggestion.

I'm going to give you my initial thoughts on Zero. Going back and doing research had made me reconsider somewhat, but I'll start here. The three WW? I was thinking Buddha, Jesus and Hitler, but then dying at 33 isn't very early. Another thought was Jeanne d'Arc, but apparently it has to be a guy... Will have to ponder more important people not surviving early years. Could also be someone unknown... The scene made me think of Dresden after the bombings. Those horrible photos of women trying to survive...

Of course, it's a matter of what mood you're after and the feeling you want to convey. I don't think you have anything to be scared of. Just remember what I said. These poetry prompt challenges are a gateway to heavier writing...! So be prepared!

What is they say? Necessity being the mother of invention? Clever Merrick! I at least let us off the cliff this week, but here we are still in suspense! Gah! No pressure...

I take one night off and the world goes to hell. Literally...? Might be deeply disturbed, but I'm looking forward to book 6.

Def, I really like your haikus (it's one of my favourite styles too) and since it's snowing here too, I find them both very appropirate. I was thinking about the thing AC talked about earlier in the thread. That haikus in Japanese are sort of flowing over the lines. I thought about the first one and perhaps this could be a try in that direction? Just a wild thought... Gray clouds blanket sky As snowflakes chase each other To delight my tongue BTW, who hasn't stood outside trying to catch a snowflake on their tongue? Such a playful image and I don't think I'll ever outgrow that!

I just want to hug Indie. He'd probably be all uncomfortable, so it's not a good idea. Still, all jokes about Iceman leave a bit of a sour taste behind now. Not that people know, but it makes me think about these 'friendly' jokes we tell people around us. We really have no idea what lies hidden. Preston being Preston could perhaps break through those walls. I think his affections once gained makes for a powerful (if tiny) ally. And friend.

Oh, Indie... I get so sad reading his story. Knowing far too many people live in abusive relationships is just heartbreaking. Love is supposed to build you up, not tear you down. No matter what happens with Preston, I think Indie's made a friend. A fierce friend in every sense of the word. If E&C plan on exploring choking further, I would suggest a little research for them. Games like that can go wrong in the worst way...

I've read a lot of your stories and I hope you know I appreciate them greatly. I try to review these days since I, when I started to write myself, realised just how much only a few words mean. We all seek validation and want to be seen, noticed. In my opinion, that hoes double for anyone seeking to share any kind of artistic work with the world. I've done a bit of acting, sing in a choir and now I write. Mostly, it's for me but at the same time I wouldn't do it to an audience if I didn't care for or want a reaction. We pour our souls into these manifestations of ourselves and it hurts if no one sees us. Deep down, I think we have to decide to try and ignore the numbers as much as possible, in order to not lose our artistic uniqueness. Still, it is evolving as an artist to figure out what the audience (in reality our fellow man) wants or perhap needs. I guess for me the trick is to try and combine these two. To reach others you have to speak to them in a way that makes them listen. Otherwise, what's the point? So, what do I want to say here? I don't know... Perhaps that you should listen to yourself most of all, or your work will become hollow. And maybe just keep one eye/ear on your public. Personally, I think you're doing great!

As a mom myself, I teared up at his conversation with Monica. She has to be all sniffly too. And he doesn't even realise it. It's not so strange though, since he's not had anyone to show him how decent people treat each other in a long. Being isolated like that growing up, he's had to make up his own explanations of the world and of course as a kid he believed his dad. Heartbreaking to see him so blind when it comes to Andy. Hopefully, all the new people in his life can convince him otherwise. I think he should start running. If Kaz is right, there could be a scholarship in it for him!
-
Hot! But what was that thump...? A nosy audience?
-
Another song for Colt! Just to get him in the right mindset wherever he is. (I especially like the line "I'm so powerful I don't need batteries to play" No you don't, Colt. *snicker, snicker*)

gender & sexuality Gender Politics In Art Therapy Group
Puppilull commented on Thorn Wilde's blog entry in The Fantastic Mr. Wilde
I'm curious about what he replied. I've been on my male friends about men needing to discuss their gender role as much as women have. No matter what you chose, it's important for people to have a real choice. Why should it matter? That's a very good question.
