Supreme Court Strikes Down Same-Sex Marriage Ban In 50 States
LitLover replied to rustle's topic in The Lounge
This was a post I saw on Facebook recently. I think Tom Bridegroom is smiling right now http://www.huffingtonpost.com/shane-bitney-crone/tap-tap-tap-a-secret-love-no-longer_b_3096293.html -
Supreme Court Strikes Down Same-Sex Marriage Ban In 50 States

Now there is even more to celebrate during Toronto's Pride festivities -
Such a sad event in history. Even more heartbreaking is the reaction of the public at the time.

I am so happy that Tony and Marcus are back to their relaxed and loving relationship again. They left the baggage in Boston, which is good. The house sounds like it's going to be beautiful when they get it finished. Hopefully there contractor is as good as he sounds so that will be one less thing for them to worry about in their already hectic lives. I would have had a panic attack if I was Tony too. Good grief, Marjorie living in their in law suite might have driven both of them to drink

I'm sorry to hear that you are dealing with family health issues. Take care of yourself We'll be here when you're able to come back.

Oh my god you had me so worried before Candy was in the house for more than 5 minutes! What an unscrupulous bitch! She just sold her child...not to give joy to a childless couple as a surrogate might, but to inflict as much punishment on M & K that she could (seething here ). Oh well in the end our boys won the war and what the money was a small price to pay. I am worried about her trying to extort more money out of them until the baby is born. That is going to be a LONG pregnancy. The argument between M & K was realistic and quit well done. When in the heat of anger you sometimes can't see the forest for the trees. In this case Michael wasn't seeing the big picture with Candy and only saw her smug face. Kendall saw that victory was in their reach and stepped in and Michael snapped at him. The important thing is that Michael realized what he did and apologized. oh and makeup sex is definitely called for

This chapter had me equally happy and sad. I was really happy to see Jay and Mikey have some alone time together. Jay's reward was well worth it for both of them I giggled about "Jeepers" and Mr. Beckell teasing Mikey. I really adore Jay's parents. The start of Denny and Greg's time together had me smiling but still sad remembering what Denny has been through and how fragile his sense of self-worth is. Greg is a sweet boy who I think could really be good for Denny if he is given half a chance. What Greg said was unfortunate and thoughtless but I know he never meant to hurt Denny. I really hope Denny will take the time away to realize that Greg has never been anything but kind and understanding with him. I feel for Greg, wondering if he messed up his chance at happiness. I was in tears by the time a heartbroken Greg called Benny. I also feel for Denny, who is dealing with what I can only classify as sexual assault and now having someone he is starting to care about seemingly joking about what happened. It's not an easy situation, but I hope they can talk and work things out.

"You Were Already in Here"
LitLover commented on Robert Rex's story chapter in "You Were Already in Here"
Welcome back Loved the chapter. I could feel Barry's panic as he drove to the hospital and his relief when he realized that Dave was going to be ok. I like the pace of the chapter. You covered a lot of time but it worked really well. It was nice to see the guys spending quality time together and with friends. They are finally building a life together. And the sex? Oh my -
With the buildup to Toronto's Pride Week festivities (which start today), I have seen a lot of LGBT supportive posts around Facebook and the internet in general. I have also seen some negative, hurtful or just plain uninformed comments. With my friend's son coming out this week and knowing some of the backlash he is going to face in his extended family and with some people in our small town, I am reminded that support from straight friends and relatives is not something that anyone who is gay, lesbian, bi or transgender should have to ask for, but for many is sorely lacking. So I, for one, will shout, loud and proud, that I am a straight supporter of Gay Pride and living your life in any way that makes you happy. So get your party on Toronto! Paint the whole city rainbow bright!

Chapter 28 Putting Together a Good Hand
LitLover commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 28 Putting Together a Good Hand
After the conversation with Janine (who I really like by the way) and the resulting stress and embarrassment felt by Michael it was really nice to see K & M getting back to their teasing and fun relationship. (Soooo transparent ) I can understand Michael feeling foolish and feeling played but it really wasn't his fault. Some people are just that good at playing other people. Tim said he can't imagine a woman doing this to get married...sadly I do know a person who did. It is scary what some people will do to get what they think they want. I really hope that Lanny starts to realize what a treasure he has with Janine. Hell she already sees a side of him that he has never shown anyone else. Maybe he feels like he doesn't deserve someone that good? I think the condom thing is disgusting but i hope that (and this soldier she wants) will work in M & K's favour. Bring on the battle Gary! We're ready -
Prompt 420 He put his hand where?
LitLover commented on Timothy M.'s story chapter in Prompt 420 He put his hand where?
I love the conversations that Jazz and Rob had about homophobia and later about experimentation with a guy. I wonder if Jazzs advice will convince Rob to back off a little and let Nelson and Eric fight for themselves once in a while. I loved Jazz's answer about whether or not he would accept a blowjob from a guy. His reasons for not doing it were really well thought out and show how mature he is about sex. I also love that they "checked each other out". Women do it all of the time and I've never understood why most straight men have a hard time appreciating beauty in any form. I think some of the sudsy descriptions should make your readers happy too -
I think this is something we must all face as we grow older. I met my husband when I was 20, now I'm 42....does he see me the same...will I still be his joy when I'm 60? 80? A very touching song Gary. I think you struck very close to home for most of your readers with this one.

It was really nice to catch up with some of your guys again Adi I was very impressed with Jonah's advice. He was right, Romeo can't continue to pretend to be someone he's not. What's the point in being in a relationship if you have to pretend to be someone you're not the entire time? Julian loves him so he has to trust that and just be himself.

I swear you need to start handing out tissues with your lyrics This was touching and so sadly true. Some relationships don't implode, they whither and die in front of our eyes.

I am so happy that Denny and Greg have gotten together. I agree with the others, it had to be so hard for gay youth to find someone in the 70s (not that it's always easy now). You would have had to be so discreet that it would be hard to make connections. I think Denny and Greg are awesome together. Their personalities just seem to compliment each other. They seem to know what the other needs (like Greg realizing it was important to Denny to pay for the snacks). I think that Greg can help Denny get past what happened to him and replace the awful memories he has of sex with good ones. I hope Greg realizes those phone calls will have to stop now. I think it would crush Denny if Greg continued to make those calls and Denny found out. By the way, like Tim, I laughed out loud when Denny slammed the door on Mikey and Jay making out. Those two have almost no control haha.

The conversation with Lanny gives me some hope that maybe M & K may be successful at going after full custody. It's not going to be a pretty fight and I think that Candy is going to be mean and angry, but the glimmer of hope is there. I feel badly for Lanny. I get the impression that he didn't have a lot of real friends. I hope what K said opens his eyes to the fact that Janine cares about him. I still think he's an ass, but he seems like he's taking the first tentative steps to changing his attitude. Hopefully it will stick.

Wow Gary, you really had me choked up with this song. You know me (from my opinions in reviews)...I am really unforgiving about cheating, but you made me feel for this man...his shame and his regret were palpable. He realized too late that that one night wasn't worth what he risked, and ultimately lost.
-
I knew there would be an explanation. There was no way Marcus was going to walk away from Tony. I think Tony and Marcus both need to learn to trust each other more, but Marcus really should have answered Tony's text. And I must say..that was the longest "closure" conversation ever. Marcus was gone for a what? 6 or 7 hours? I am happy they talked it out though and can leave that baggage in Boston.
-
That was beautiful and heartbreaking. You could feel the loss and that insurmountable distance that can happen between a couple after a loss. I've had friends who lost a child and that blame game can tear the relationship apart. Very well done Gary

Awww Denny strikes me as such a sweet, gentle giant. He is going to make someone a wonderful boyfriend some day. Maybe it will be Cal, if either boy can get past their insecurities. Greg is the gay matchmaker for the school so it's no wonder Jay and Mikey have recruited him for operation boyfriend Maybe he'll decide to keep Denny for himself though? Haha poor Mikey...he plays one trick and Jay ends up with Sauerkraut all over himself. I think Linda is, unfortunately, right to be concerned that Jay and Miles are going to make their feelings for each other obvious. I hope they don't run in to more Timmy Zanes Even with that worry though I can't help but smile as a picture Jay teasing Mikey in the bathroom. Those two are just so sweet together.
-
Such hot and sweet chapter Tim! I love that Nelson and Eric got some uninterrupted time alone together to explore more of their relationship together. I'm with AC, I laughed when Eric asked how Nelson could be so romantic and sensible at the same time It was nice to see the boys both lose some of their inhibitions and just let themselves feel.
-
All I can say about this chapter is wow. M & K are going to make great fathers, but I hate the thought of them potentially being saddled with Candy for the rest of their lives. I've seen so many cases of children being caught in the middle when one (or sometimes both) parents are bitter and angry and use the child as ammunition to hurt the other parent. I really hope that M & K can find a way to convince Candy to give up custody to them. (but she doesn't seem like the reasonable type) I love how how good M & K are. They have such big and generous hearts. Lanny was an ass and a homophobic jerk, but they can still recognize his pain and put their anger aside to help him. I hate to admit that I am not sure if I could be that generous or forgiving. This Janine woman is interesting. I get the impression that she cares for Lanny deeply and maybe she can help M & K with information about Candy and the baby. I wonder if her feelings for Lanny might also lean towards the romantic? She sounds like a nice person so maybe she can help Lanny with this heartbreak and maybe be a strong, loving support for him? Even if only as his friend. It sounds like he needs someone like that in his life.

Chapter 25 The Jokers Are In Play
LitLover commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 25 The Jokers Are In Play
:wubb: :o :o Ace and Duece always make me smile and the A/C joke went way better than I expected The "best hockey team" teasing sounds very familiar (my husband is a Toronto fan and his best friend is a Habs fan so they are always bugging each other about the best team). I laughed out loud when Chet cheered for Ottawa from the kitchen. And then Lanny happened..... In order not to spoil this for the rest of the readers I'll carry this on in the forum
