  1. Fellow readers, check this out. It's a wonderful if sad story, with some social commentary thrown in. Wouldn't we all like to escape to a world of magic when the realities of being different weighs us down? W_L does a great job of making us think, dream, and reflect on what is important in life. Cheers!

    Promises to Keep

Sweet and sad, but innovative too. I felt the boy's loneliness and despair at feeling so different from other boys. He was fortunate to have found love in such a magical way. The hare gave him an identity he sorely needed, and it was especially sad it was his father who destroyed what they had. The scene of the dead hare clutching his photo was a powerful moment. Well done, W_L. Cheers, and thanks for writing this. G.

  4. What Aaron said! And a special thanks to @Valkyrie and @Parker Owens for proofing my stories, and to the authors who delivered, and the readers who support. Cheers!
  5. Me too! I'm in the midst of renovations for my family room, but I got one read, commented, and reviewed earlier. It was a wonderful start to my day. Might need a short nap before I read another.
  6. Ode to a Love Lost, but Never Forgotten It would have been twenty years today If we'd kept our promises Despite those obstacles We could have shared those twenty years Of Birthdays, Christmases And sequestered movie nights We could have celebrated those twenty years Surrounded by real friends Who welcomed our truth We could have prevented those twenty years Of deprived and troubled hearts And living wi
  7. Can a car be perfect? Of course it can, when it holds priceless memories to carry us through defining moments. Can a story be perfect? Maybe... maybe not... but this one comes damn close for the response it elicited in this reader. I recommend you take a few minutes and read this sweet little gem. Cheers!

    The Perfect Car

I'm a sappy old man, and you made me cry, buddy. Seriously. The car, the picnic, the significance of the dates, the caskets laid atop one another, the car in the museum only starting on May third... and the love of their children... all made for a warm and touching story. Life is to be lived, and these two men were fortunate to be able to do so in a time odds were stacked against them. I had to google the car out of curiosity, and chuckled to see it was the Weasley-mobile. A car plays a part in an upcoming story for this antho... inanimate things can mean so much to us living, breathing folks. Well done, sir! This was a great way to begin my reading. Cheers! Gary....
  9. Awesome! It should give him much more freedom... you're a good son, B.
  10. Love and Violence in the Afternoon I need to remember all of that morn as a lesson When acknowledged truth cleared my vision And betrayal raged through me like a hot fire This day I finally came to terms with my own folly Your view of love was a warped and selfish one Because it never impeded your basest needs Yet, you insisted on keeping me trapped in lies Until I found my way to unsheathing the truth How your constant volatility
  11. Our observations are made from many different perspectives. Sometime we are looking forward, sometimes we are looking back, and sometimes we are standing still. Life can be filled with many loves, and loss can take many forms. So can loyalty.
  12. I'm a devoted fan of Geron, and of this series, although I haven't read all of them yet. They are so clever and imaginative, and I am always enthralled. Thanks for this. It's great to see AAA back, Aaron. Cheers!
  13. Off to Home Depot... have a great day, all!

  15. Happy Tuesday, all!
  16. Hope you feel better, bro.
  17. I drained my well the other day by doing just that. I left the hose on after washing out some paint brushes. Took a long five minutes to come back.
  18. Second coat of paint and caulking done. Just have to put another coat on the trim when the caulking dries, and then the outside is done.
