It's fun to see Jevikel and Kadin begin to relax and learn more about the weyr as the make new friends. I was pleased that they got to talk to J'rud and H'rek. Also that these two and their connection to they weyrs that have gone forward. They have so much more to offer Jevikel and Kadin. Great reading @Mawgrim!

I love the way you can bring up visions of how little it takes to stimulate hormonal teens. I know I did it too, but this is sooo cute! And...it just got better from this! Do they realize that they are now flirting outrageously, but innocently? No and that makes it ever better! Keep it up, I need the laughs and warm fuzzy feelings! I was binge commenting, but this chapter was soo good with soo many laughs I had to stop. Nonstop laughs from the depths of my belly. This definitely meets the criteria of your essay on Character Empathy!

To me the thing that makes this so real is Tristan and Jessie both are having the same conflicts, confusion and emotional stresses happening at the same time. Almost all readers have faced this same situation with the same resulting feelings. I enjoyed the awkwardness so much!

Tristan is the example of the definition of Drama Queen. Now that I have finished reading the chapter I can add more comments. First, I was so ready that Tristan didn't go to the mall with Lori. I can understand Lori and Michelle's frustration with him. Fortunately, it lead to the video. I know Jessie was speaking for himself, but it perfectly reflected what is happening with Tristan. I was cheered when Tristan sent the comment, and overjoyed that the whole experience has lead to a date! Really great writing that keeps me constantly on edge.

I can't believe Tristan still thinks Jason is Charming!!! Enough said. Jason is like a sexual Dracula with only one thing in mind!

It's quiet today. A lot of chores scheduled for tomorrow however. Today was spent catching up on my reading and doing some cooking. I am enjoying one of Comicality's books now, and following 9 other stories here. Maybe I'll go to catch up on some stories on other sites today. Have any plans for the weekend?

I suspect this was due to the transcontinental railroads being built across North America. Many of the became ghost towns, or are only marked by the cemeteries still left. The word itself sounds more like slang for the mess left on the sheets at the beginning stage of 'night emissions'.

Tristan's mom used a very sneaky way of letting Tristan know she wouldn't have a problem if he was gay. I don't think she expected him to confess, but rather highly suspects he is and used the pamphlets as a way to obliquely approach the subject to send him her real message. Like I said, sneaky. Jason on the other hand is so transparent! All he wants is the sex, on his terms. He doesn't have the brain to read between the lines to figure out what Lori said, even if you don't need to read between the lines with Lori. He is just plain, single minded stupid. Tristan should picture Jessie in his mind every time he sees Jason and end the conversation before it starts. I do love the cast of characters and the agony and ecstasy of Tristan's teen emotional fluctuations.

Having taught science for many years in a middle school, I had to snicker. I used different examples, but often visited the kitchen with my students because of all the chemistry, physics and life sciences that are cover is such a small, familiar room for them.

I was snickering most of this chapter at the hormone driven awkwardness of both Tristan and Jessie. They are both very much attracted to each other and want to be so "Cool!" There goodbyes fit the scene ending their lunch together. It was goodbye with each thing spoken to make sure they would see each other soon without asking for a date. Artie was a great wingman for Jessie, and Lori and Michelle did their part for Tristan. The scream and near car wreck were priceless, as was Scottie's lame joke.
