I remember Toto as the speed demon on a tricycle running down people in the church square. His shy and retiring companion/shadow was Michele who would chase behind him. It is sad that the village social milieu did not change much since Gianni and Angelo and Toto finds himself in the same situation as the two older boys were years ago. Gianni seeing the distress was so kind in offering help. At least Toto has someone he can talk to and maybe help him. Salvator is not a bad man, but has many of the same jaundiced beliefs and obstinate traditions that Marina had when Gianni came out. I am hoping that Gianni, Angelo and the family will help Toto find a way to be true to himself. I am glad to see another Ravello story. Again, you have created some great pictures in my mind with your eloquent words.

Gianni is a west London teenager who has tragically lost his parents, and no must relocate to a mountain village on the Amalfi coast with his grandparents. There he will spend the summer exploring the villages and villas in the area with another lonely young teen, Angelo. The author has created with wonderful details the sights, sounds smells and tastes of this beautiful part of Italy. He captures the innocence of youth as well as the rigidity of traditions and bigotry of beliefs held for a millennium or more. He handles delicate and sensitive issues and relationship with inspired love and care. This is not high adventure, but a realistic modern romance that stretches the bounds of belief and acceptance. I recommend this book with all my heart.

This is a beautifully written tale of love. The ending so fitted the story and characters. I found hope in how the Angelo, the family and village responded to Gianni's disappearance. I hope this bodes well Gianni, Angelo and their future together. I look forward to the sequels generated by this romantic story and its characters. Your command of words, especiallly the landscapes and dialogues created, was exceptionally great. I saw, heard and felt all the environmental and emotional highlights in the story. Thank you for working so hard to create this tale.

I am not surprised at the initial reaction of Gianni's family. He didn't give them enough time or preparations for the impetuous act that revealed his homosexuality. I do believe he has misread Angelo and truly believes that Angelo has also rejected him. Father Stefano's talk did help, but Marina's rejection has him with no alternatives and I am sure he feels hopeless. I do fear he has been pushed to the brink one more time. I only hope he can make it through this one more time with the help of Angelo.

A beautiful wedding followed by an emotional explosion. I have to agree that Gianni, Angelo and Pietro's reactions were out of character and very unexpected. This was an unusual plot twist. The only reason I see for this is the desire to resolve the point of Gianni being gay in this small town in one quick swoop, not the usual long term one on one resolution. I'm anxious to finish the next few chapter to see how everything settles.

It was so sad to see Loren break down and cry. Jay did the right thing by just letting Loren cry out his pain. When he told Jay what had happened to him at seven years of age, I was first stunned then outraged at the idiocy and cruelty of his parents. Corey's folks taking him in and trying to adopt him at least gave him the chance to grow up in a caring environment. Since Loren's parents spend time in jail, I wonder what happened to Lars. Jay's reaction and pledge to Loren was what Loren needed. I am happy that they were able to both tell each other of their love. Jay's suggestion for both of them going to therapy was so thoughtful and great foresight to anticipate problems as take action to prevent them from affecting their love. This was an extremely well written chapter that flowed well to the dramatic conclusion.

Jevikel and Kadin are working to help their hold, but Vikkel still stubbornly refuses to believe that thread will return. It kind of make their hard work seem useless. The hold and all the people in it will be in great danger when thread comes. The dragon riders' visit was exciting as Jevikel and Kadin were both told they were candidates for the Search when the next eggs were laid. I was also good to have confirmation that Kemi made it to Benden Weyr. The boys' are still going, but their duty to help rebuild the hold is very strong. They too want their hold to survive. I feel that they will do all they can to protect the hold as long as they remain there. I do wonder which will come first, the thread or the Search.

Again James you have written a very sensitive and delicate chapter dealing with one of the great mysteries of life. Death is a mystery that causes humans to feel great sadness and seek comfort from the pain. That is why we have so many questions and hopes that cannot be answered or fulfilled. You wrote with emotionally power that caused me to feel the grief that the family felt at their lose. I am glad that Angelo sought out Gianni to talk to after the funeral. Angelo was able to do what Gianni could not when his parents died. With Gianni holding him, Angelo was able to cry and release some of his pain. Gianni's answer to Angelo's question was truthful and shows the strength of their growing bond. Sad, but also full of love.

My advice? Go for it! I have fallen in love with this story and the beautiful setting and people you have created.

Another almost day filled with good times for the boys. They edge closer and closer to each other without actually making contact. Just brushes and jostling. Gianni's letter to his parents was sweet and has the promise of finally making the move we all want to see happening. I wish them both the best.

The description of the cathedral in Amalfi had me going to Google to take a look. The shopping trip was painless, but Gianni's reaction to the traffic was interesting. Like @drpaladin pointed out, Gianni is finding the life in the small town comfortable. Like Gianni, I find that it is strange to be charged to go to the beach. Where I lived before retirement, all beaches were public property and open to all. I am glad that the boys find smoking distasteful. Also, I think that Nonna is trying very hard not to make an issue of religion, even though it is very important to her. Gianni and Angelo are inching closer and their conversations more intimate. I continue to find these chapters very enjoyable to read.

Marina's birthday was very special. I have my own belief's, and try to recognise when someone has done something good. Therefore, I applaud Father Stefano's quick analysis and diffusing what could have been a very hurtful situation when Gianni said he didn't believe in God. Although hurt, Marina responded appropriately and Gianni was able to leave without guilt. Angelo and Gianni are becoming more comfortable and trusting with each other. This chapter was written with both sensitivity and delicacy. Another wonderful chapter.

This story has a great feel to it. Your words create conversations, actions and setting that are so realistic. I feel like I'm a quiet friend accompanying Gianni from one interesting spot to another. It is interesting to even leave the heat and sun just by going into one of the home. I do worry about Gianni and his grandparents' relationship. I can only hope that Nonna has mellowed and changed over the years. The wall incident was of a concern, but really didn't feel like it was a long term problem, just a momentary thought. I was happy that the boys swore to be there for each other.

Spending time with Angelo going around talking and getting to know each other was delightful. They seem to get along well. I like Angelo's open and playful manner. Grandmother's idea of getting Gianni to become a Catholic is a bit concerning. I hope it does not become a divisive issue between them. I like that Gianni is using a journal to write to his parents. It is a positive way to deal with their absence in his life. Great chapter.

I could feel like I was in the village with Gianni and again in the home of his grandparents. Your vivid and colourful descriptions so added to the mood of the story. Gianni's awkward discussions with his grandparents were very realistic considering their backgrounds. His dream is concerning, since it seems he still has not dealt with the deaths of his parents. Nonna's reactions to the mention of Gianni's parents was expected, and I feel both Gianni and his Nonna may need each other to discuss the past in order to heal. I am hooked!

Having read the summary and reviews, I was certain that I would like this story. Your beautifully written, but bittersweet beginning cemented that desire. Gianni's character is emerging slowly, but I already feel a closeness to him. Pietro makes a great tour guide.

I though you like cats! Have a good rest, Pup!

Ases is an interesting character. His friendly manner combined with his youthful enthusiasm has great charm. He does have a lot to learn about Garjah's people, but the crew seem accepting and protective. Bouncer's approval of his is obvious and reassures me that Ases will fit. He is observant and has his interests and assignments to consider, so I am glad that Essell takes the precaution of not showing Ases some areas of the ship. Ases' ship sounds amazing! I am picturing a space ship Transformer. 😉

Change of Heart is a beautiful cowboy romance set in modern day Texas. Jeffrey Adams is a successful Chicago attorney who guiltily returns home to visit his beloved aunt and uncle. He only plans to stay a short time, when a sweet young lady and her father catch his heart. The Adams family are loving, respectful, loyal and honest. They use some amazing resources and common sense to combat the bigotry and corruption in their town. The story is filled with fun, adventure and intrigue. The dialogue sparkles with wit and wisdom. I loved reading this wonderful story. I highly recommend reading this imaginative and warm tale.
