At your age, you may suffer some other disease or accident as you said, but as for prostate cancer, I was told about six months ago that my life expectancy then was about ten years. (In April 1998, I was told I had five years.) I don't know what treatment you are currently getting, if any. I started on the three widely used hormone treatments (Lupron, Zoladex, and Degerelix) in July 2007. I have now been through all three and went back to the beginning of the rotation (Lupron) in October 2010. So, I may be ahead of you in the long parade of treatments. In any event, I hope you will continue to feel well and have a long life. La'chaim!

Bob, you are wise and philosophical and you are applying great wisdom to the inevitability of life. Facing a situation similar to yours, I hope you are always around when I need encouragement. Let's make the most of our last ten years. To paraphrase your words, let's be thankful for every day regardless of the weather.

Great story, Jack. My only disappointment is that it didn't last longer...but that's what sequels are for. I thought for sure that Scotty and Kris were going to get together, but all's well that ends well.

Youth is definitely a matter of your outlook, a state of mind. If 40 is the new 30, then perhaps 70 is the new 50. I certainly hope so.

Unfortunately, that small "perfect match" section is probably pretty accurate.

I've quit Faceboook altogether. Don't trust them. As they keep searching for more ways to make money, they loosen their controls over who has access to your information. If you value your privacy, you won't use Facebook at all. Be sure you Goolge your own name about once per month to see what information about you is actually public. I did that once and was directed to one of those sites that sells public information about people. That's not so bad (actually pretty enterprising). What I didn't like is that the site had a picture of one of my grandsons which it could only have gotten from Facebook.

Your example is good for an additional reason. You use the active rather than the passive form. Some writers use the passive entirely too much.

Poor Marv. Drives all that way to see a friend of a friend and receives something less than a cordial welcome. Evan, on the other hand, gets a very nice surprise in response to his concerns for his own well being. Bingo! Great chapter, Jack.

Enjoyed the second chapter, Andy. We learned a lot more about Gar, but not without learning how little we still know. His memory of his earlier life has caused him to take action to save an innocent person rather than waiting for some unseen force to direct him to take revenge. I'm looking forward to next Thursday.
