  1. It's that time again. Happy vernal equinox.
  2. Great chapter, CJ. I trust this is the real climax of the story and the rescue/escape of Atlantis' crew will a bit calmer even if dramatic. I agree (sadly) that Shane is the most likely victim of the lightning strike. Since Atlantis is a commercial vessel, normally carrying paying passengers, it is likely to be required to carry a defibrillator and Trevor, as captain, likely knows how to use it. He will save Shane. I certainly hope he will.
  3. December 2012...where no month has gone before!
  4. I received the Prologue and first two chapters of Circumnavigation for beta reading on October 21, 2009. That would be three years, five months ago. That is a long time, but I have enjoyed every minute. What a great story! Very well done, CJ.

  6. Didn't realize you were Irish, Benji.
  7. Today is December 107, 2012. Saint Patrick's Day!
  8. It is a long chapter and I think everyone will appreciate how well written it is...lots of action. Set aside a little extra time when you start reading; it will be time well spent.
  9. Thanks, Andy, for a very good explanation. There's another way to view the rule about selecting the article based on the consonant vs. vowel sound of the noun following the article. Each article/noun combination needs a single consonant sound to separate the two words. The spoken "a animal" doesn't sound right. Using "an" supplies the vowel sound where the noun "animal" is missing it at the beginning of the word. Conversely, "an bear" would be an awkward imposition of an unneeded consonant. A hearing of the words is most important. I agree with you on "a historic" being correct. The "h" is a consonant with a softer sound than most consonants, but a consonant none the less.
  10. Most excellent endeavor, Fishie.
  11. Wow! A Circumnavigation reading marathon. Congratulations, Robert, and welcome to the ranks of the hooked.
  12. C J did say earlier that the next chapter would not be here on Tuesday. He is working on it diligently...even pulled an all nighter last night.
  13. Cool scenario, Rick! Sounds very Cliff Jamesian.
  14. The wait is killing me. "The sea does not reward those who are too anxious, too greedy, or too impatient. One should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach - waiting for a gift from the sea." ~ Anne Morrow Lindbergh

    Greetings from the inmate

Beware the Ides of March. Just kidding. I know that all will go well and you will be feeling great when you get beyond all the treatment and isolation. Take care.
  16. Of course, that's not to say he won't toy with us along the way.
  17. I agree. C J would not do that to us. The end will be dramatic, realistic, and satisfactory.
  18. Wouldn't it really depend on who is bedside when he awakes? I mean, that would make or break the whole story.
  19. If readers only knew...
  20. Best wishes, Edward. Buying your first home is a major event and you deserve it. I think you should appeal to the original mortgage company to stand by their commitment. I'm not sure of the legalities involved, but they should follow through with the loan. Hang in there.
  21. Here are an interesting, even breathtaking couple of photos. Look at the picture above and you can see where this driver broke through the guardrail, on the right side of the culvert, where the people are standing on the road, pointing. The pick-up was traveling about 75 mph from right to left when it crashed through the guardrail. It flipped end-over-end, bounced off and across the culvert outlet, and landed right side up on the left side of the culvert, facing the opposite direction from which the driver was traveling. The 22-year-old driver and his 18-year-old passenger were unhurt except for minor cuts and bruises. This occurred just outside Flagstaff, AZ, on U.S. Hwy 100. Now look at the second picture below... That's what I consider a close call.
  22. Yay, Mathieu! Happy Birthday!
  23. I don't know if there are any better PDF readers available; there probably are some in the open source software universe. My bandwidth is sufficient and at a fixed price, so I haven't been concerned with the Adobe updates. They do have them frequently...probably as often as I actually use the software. I use it primarily to "fix" documents I e-mail to other people, so there is no chance of alteration. As for Norton (or McAfee)...ditch it. I have found AVG (http://free.avg.com/us-en/homepage) to be great antivirus software...and it's free.
  24. True. If you pay the quarterback enough, there will be no experienced offensive linemen to protect his âne riche.
  25. Who would not feel respected at $120.6 mil?
