  1. It's neither John Fitzgerald Kennedy nor Rose Elizabeth Fitzgerald Kennedy. You guys are stumbling down the rose strewn path to nowhere.
  2. Sigh! The clues provide at least skeletal facts needed to identify the person.
  3. No need to be sorry, Aditus. I just felt compelled to steer everyone away from pink.
  4. You have to really be a particular kind of stupid to go fishing with a hand grenade and drop it right next to the boat.
  5. LOL. No, not Charlie Hustle. I think the roses have become a red herring.
  6. King Arthur Court, TN
  7. Nanatlugunyi, TN
  8. I have no idea what color the roses are since it's a b&w photo. A color photo might reveal something else.
  9. The 1950s would probably be considered my generation, but the subject is definitely not. Roses? Do roses grow only in England? Too bad it's a black and white photo; we can't see what color the roses are.
  10. Oh, I was very familiar with Marlene Dietrich. Our next challenge is also not from my generation.
  11. Strictly a guess, Aditus. My only clues: An old picture, a cute little girl, and you are German. I beg your pardon. She's not at all my generation; she was 15 years old (and probably sexually active) when my dad was born.
  12. The Pub Last Saturday I was in a pub on Saturday night... had a few.... I noticed two large women by the bar. They both had strong accents so I asked, "Hey, are you two ladies from Scotland ?" One of them chirped: "It's WALES you idiot!" So, I immediately apologized and said..., "Sorry, are you two whales from Scotland ?" That's the last thing I remember...
  13. Happy Birthday, Joe!
  14. Aditus likes them young. A movie star? Marlene Dietrich?
  15. Armand Jean du Plessis, cardinal-duc de Richelieu et de Fronsac There, I said it. Aditus should provide the next challenge.
  16. cynosure (anything that attracts attention; object of interest)
  17. I hesitate to say it. The comparison with current tuition doesn't mean much. When I enrolled as a college freshman in 1959, tuition was $62.50 per semester. I don't think student loans existed then. I doubt anyone would lend that little.
  18. I'm surprised no one has gotten this. I do know the answer (I think) and I did not cheat. I can think of only one more clue to offer. My first one was a good one...indirect, not misdirecting.
  19. Agreeable, Tennessee
  20. Employers can be funny about employee illness:
