  1. Your observations and thoughtful description of what you experience are valuable. You seem to benefit, surely, as do others of us who support you from afar. We understand just a little better, hope for healing and progress a bit more particularly. You are quite brave to let us stand with you when the tide swirls around our feet together.

No figment, but a kindly friend whose gentle prodding yet might bend my pen to paper, when it’s light when I can think of what to write...
  3. Such a powerful interplay of images. I especially liked: your eyes, frozen silver storms burning with blue fire Thank you for posting this.
  4. I’ve been figuratively sandbagged any number of times. It’s an apt verb. Thanks for posting these...

    Chapter Sixteen

Jordan had better be madly in love with Noah. They make a wonderful couple. But Jordan needs to come clean with his best friend. If he could do it for Jenn, he can do it for himself. It’s time.
  6. I offer you my hand in support; my arms in embrace; my hope in friendship.

    Wounded

This is a lovely story about real friends; friends we need when we hurt, or when we have something to celebrate. Thank you.
  8. I’m glad you have the courage to write this. You give me insight. As you put these words down, I hope your sharing them gives you increasing peace. I send you hugs and hope.

    Jealousy

A wonderful, sweet story. I liked it from beginning to end beautifully done.
  10. This reminds me so much of a winter’s day; dark, grey, forbidding. Yet, if one watches the sky closely, there are variations in the gloom, lighter patches where the sun might break through. You use cold and warmth as effective images in this painful and difficult story, and your dialogue is done as wonderfully as ever. Neither Mark nor Chester deserved any of their private hells. I am glad that Chester might now be indeed free from the chains forged a generation earlier. Thank you.

Never would I be cruel to you, my friend. Except maybe when I write a cliffhanger.

    Chapter 1

I loved this sweet story from the first. Martin could not prevent the tragedy, but he could help mend the hurt. Thank you.

    The Story

I had to take breaks reading this. I couldn’t read it right through. You made me hope and weep and ache; the sadness flows from the page. Yet you frame important questions and make me mindful of things I hadn’t thought about. It’s Tommy who sacrificed so much to stay with Tarek, though the latter’s giving is what’s visible. And it is it love to stay the hand that could end excruciating pain? What good can good intentions do, even as one fights back against neglect and indifference? You made this very real, utterly believable. Thank you.
  14. Oh, excellent! Can’t wait for a quiet moment... or sixty...

I suppose I shall have to work on a gentler story... next time.
  16. This is another great edition of Ask an Author. I enjoyed reading the responses to your questions as they gave me wonderful insight into the lives of many friends. Thank you.
  17. It is interesting that you speak of News reports as stories. In truth, they tell us so little of the whole story; so rarely does anyone do as you have done, which is to go back and show us just what else has happened since the tragedy that made a thirty second clip on the news.
  18. The pain you portray here is unfathomable. The levels of evil and callous indifference on display only heighten it. If Jon ever makes a real go of life, it will only be with the help of therapy. But I fear for him, and for survivors like him. This was far too well written.

    Chapter 29

The moonlight was perhaps the most romantic moment, to me. But then, I’m a sucker for hugs by moonlight. Galen felt home in Josh at that moment. Thank you for this chapter.
  20. I love these three poems. Number one makes me feel secure, maybe even content. Yet it’s everywhere, transcendent and at the same time concentrated in the one you love, He. Then again, I love to number two for it’s imagery of flame and fire and the care it needs to burn brighter and warm not just one, but two. I love number three for the questions you pose, and the answers you invite. For only love feeds and fulfills, lights and warms, comforts and sustains. Absolutely beautiful.

    A Journal

Thanks very much for reading and for your comments. It’s very sad, and yet many kids live this way, in the shadows of fear.

    Chapter 9

But another mystery arises... how does Connor know Woody’s identity? That’s a fearsome question...
  23. I very much enjoyed reading this chapter, and indeed, the story. How good that Josh stood up for himself; even better that Chris gave him real reason to do so. Many thanks.

    Chapter Fifteen

Honesty is what makes things work. Jenn might forgive, or she might not. Honesty between Jordan and Noah - about what they each want - makes their lovemaking sweet and beautiful. And they want more... well done.
  25. @Defiance19 Ugly Sweater Cookies! I absolutely love that. Save me one? @Mikiesboy You and I agree: why have a once-a-year sweater? Especially if the sweater can tolerate battery operated lights. Garment engineering at its best...
