Well the deed is done. Fate, with the face of Ross, attempted to intervene, but Woody was having none of that. You raise the tension artfully. Poor Woody puts up with a ton of abuse, but now what’s going to happen? Afraid he’s in for more.
@Solivagant I grieve for the pain you felt. I am glad you are here to speak of it, as it may help another brother or sister who feels that pain, too. There are many moments I wish I had done better or differently - my teenage years were a disaster - but I cannot undo those knots that bind me now into who I am.
Jordan breaks with Jenn, and it hurts both of them just as much as he thought it would. She’ll be doubly hurt when she discovers why. Will her friendship with Noah survive? Noah feels he’s taking a huge risk with Jordan, and perhaps he is. But Jordan is trying hard, which you show us well. That kiss sure helps. Thanks for this chapter.
I don’t think I’m supposed to reveal political sympathies, but I haven’t dealt well with what happened on election night 2016. CJ’s reaction was muted compared to mine.
Wow. The things one will stoop to doing in order to get what the heart yearns for. But Woody is looking for acceptance and fulfillment in the wrong place. We know this of course, but he will learn a seriously sharp lesson before learning it for himself. And if Jeff ever finds out about what he's done and why, Woody is absolutely dead. You've convincingly written him into this situation. I'm looking forward to seeing how you get him out.
When it snows before all the leaves fall from the trees, they wind up blanketing the snow. It’s an incongruous sight. I couldn’t help noting it in this group. Thank you so much for reading and for your comment.
You just made me blush like a maple leaf. Your words are most kind. These days are kind of melancholy, you’re quite right. They are both parting and preparation, perhaps. Thank you for taking time to read these, and for letting me share a bit of November.
Your words are so kind; they tell me that perhaps we’ve seen the world together, if only for these moments. Thank you. And I think you’re right about November geese.
Are November geese different from October ones? Something tells me they are. I enjoyed writing that one in particular. Thanks so much for reading these.
Gold and scarlet leaves
float downstream on swift water,
passing to the sea.

Twelve November geese
fly southward in formation,
honking directions.
*
Icy rain and snow
cling to branches and wet bark,
baring the woods’ bones.
*
Orange maple leaves
fret and flutter on fresh snow,
searching for the grass.
*
Drab grey clouds hang low,
blowing mist through bare forests,

Sebastian sure got ugly when Noah told him “no.” Not who Noah thought he might be at all. But Noah has no idea what to do now, even when Jordan kisses him; he’s too hurt, too wary, now. And how very like his good nature to think of Jenn, no matter what he might want. Sebastian has badly hurt Noah, and Jordan, too. You’ve written them very well; now I can only hope love can grow between them eventually.
There is a layer of innocence to this story, but beneath it a foundation of real danger and sadness. Woody is looking for affirmation and exploration in the wrong places.
