  1. Your memory is flawless. But Reed’s story comes much later, and I have yet to hear him tell it to me. I am glad this story reminded you of Andy and Zander, and I am grateful for your comments and for your reading.
  2. Thank you for reading this. And I hope your holidays are happy ones, too.
  3. “Zander, I can’t believe I’m watching you fold laundry.” My mother looked pleased with herself. She had nagged me about that particular chore through most of high school. Some people fight with parents over taking out the trash, or homework, or using the car. For me, it was laundry. How many unpleasant moments had there been over getting my wash done? And here I was, doing multiple loads. Voluntarily. “Yeah, well, being a married man does that.” I smirked as I folded one of Andy’s te
  4. Another A to Z snapshot; Zander wonders about love and what the future holds.
  5. This is wonderful in several ways. I love the theme of spelling and writing, and enjoyed how you folded that image and idiom into the way you think and feel and live.
  6. I’m immensely grateful for your comments and insights on this poem. For once, a series of disparate observations came together as a more unified theme. It helps me to share my experience of this time of year far better than I could with photos or even video.
  7. I rejoice in the two of you. Like those writing before me, I wish you and tim every joy.

    The Sentinels

Your observations are beautiful. I’m glad you couldn’t resist...
  9. I hear the melancholy, and sense the many partings you speak of. The simplicity of your words makes them all the more effective. I send you a hug. Several, in fact.

    Chapter 31

Such a sweet and wonderful finale to this story. You were so right to make Galen’s recovery realistically slow, believably incremental. That made this moment all the more enjoyable.

    Chapter 14

Woody is now swimming in waters way, way, over his head. Mr. Dewberry May or may not be BiDad, but whatever he’s up to seems mighty inappropriate. Going to the principal will make things blow up in his face, and in his family’s face, too. What he should do is shut off the computer, quit camming, and find ways to connect with his buddies a long way offline for a while. But that’s not going to happen, is it?
  12. How easily a single scent can transform a moment into a kaleidoscope of images and memories. And how easy it is to grumble at the grey sky without really seeing it. Thank you for sniffing the air and seeing some of what I hoped you might see.
  13. Just a whiff of woodsmoke on the air brings so many memories and images to mind. I’m glad this brought happy memories to you. Thank you so much for reading, and for your thoughts.
  14. I’m glad this one hit the mark. If images and emotions surfaced in this, then I’m happy. Thank you for reading this, and for your kind comments.
  15. Thank you so much for reading this, and for your comments. I’m very happy these lines made Yes sound in your mind.
  16. Thank you for reading this. I am glad you felt what I tried to write.
  17. Thank you, Gary. I’m glad you liked this.
  18. Funny how the scent of woodsmoke evoked so many images. It is indeed an aching, penetrating cold we feel even as daylight slowly increases.
  19. Now you just made me really smile. xo P
  20. Thank you, tim. I’m very happy you thought it was good. You made me smile.
  21. Now is the woodsmoke season, an hour of dancing snowflakes and soot-sorrowed gutters; days of sock ties and handmade scarves that shout. Here stretch weeks dressed in funeral clothes, when forest and sky engage in grey conversation. At dusk, I eavesdrop on the wind and river, the pebbled shallows sharing jokes with oak leaves reluctant to leave home, and I wonder when I’ll scent the warming earth again.
  22. Your victories through small things inspire me, brother. I rejoice in them, and hold you in my thoughts.
  23. That was great! I really liked this, as you captured the child’s point of view perfectly.

    Chapter 1

And so a journey begins, and one which promises to be packed with adventure! I just hope there will be more of this...
