Thank you so much. Your generous words make me blush. I am very glad these appeal to you more than the dry-as-toast texts we had to negotiate as students. I wonder whether my next exam paper should require responses in poetic form. Now that would be interesting.

Oh, the lusty scientists. If my chem teacher has used poetry like this to reach us, I think the class average would have been much higher. Thanks for reading!

I agree: Robert Boyle is hardly necessary for mirthless toil, merely sufficient. I laugh about your post over the English classroom door. Better that than nailing 99 theses to the door, and far less tedious. I remember my English teacher holding the class completely captivated by explaining the raciest bits of Shakespeare to us... Thanks very much for your reaction and commentary. I am glad you liked these.

    Weakened Bones

Parker Owens commented on Mikiesboy's story chapter in Weakened Bones

Wow. You painted this so vividly. I could feel the cold, sense the snow biting. And the colors - muted and grey - I know these colors, and yet you made them alive for me. And I have to agree with @mollyhousemouse, this was very, very cinematic. I was glad for your disclaimer at the end, as this was a very powerful poem, evoking deep sadness and hurt.

I'll take you to school and carry your books, too. Thanks for your very kind comments - and I am happy that the final stanza of Boyle's Law made you smile. It would have scandalized my teacher back in the old days...

Thank you very much, Moggy. The strong stomach might have been needed for a tussle with the digestive habits of the cell...and chemistry was not my strongest subject, either. I am glad you like these.

Chemistry would certainly have been way more interesting if these had been posted on the board to copy down. I am glad you enjoyed them now, even after bringing back the horrors of high school science....

Diffusion Diffusion helps the lowly cell to feed itself and launder well so many of its inmost parts which students all find hard to spell. So this is how nutrition starts with microscopic a la cartes just passing through the membrane wall to fuel the mitochondric hearts. It's concentration makes the call if molecules will speed or crawl across the permeable divide, till equalized, their movements stall. Tonight, when we lie side by side, plea

    Chapter 15

Parker Owens commented on Cia's story chapter in Chapter 15

Definitely getting bad vibes from Ss’merit; it’s perfectly understandable that Kohen doesn’t trust the alien. It’s admirable that he feels he must be of some use. Do any of the other abductees feel the same way?

    Without Waver

Parker Owens commented on MacGreg's story chapter in Without Waver

The powerful unity and dual gravity of this poem amazes me. It is a beautiful and compelling dialogue between two men of one mind.

How wonderfully you bring the reader into the embrace, how you make us present to the yearning and the beauty. This is sensual, simple and exquisite.

As a school teacher of a certain vintage, I can’t help reading this with a smile at the truth of what you say. I also know that they do mature, as @Mikiesboy says. But in my mind, even those I knew too long ago are forever seventeen. This is a terrific post. Thank you.

Gottschalk had such a varied and interesting career - it could be the stuff of film. Thanks for adding him to this collection.

In answer to your question: if feelings developed and secrets still had to be kept, the chances for devastating hurt to both parties increases.

    Bed Times

Parker Owens commented on northie's story chapter in Bed Times

Perfect post! Tony can copy this, right? I enjoyed this chapter so much. Geoff’s incremental growth in confidence and love must have Tony anticipating a lovely ‘someday.’ In the meantime, T & G seem to be growing closer and closer as a pair, as people - not just sex partners. Hope Stu gets what he deserves, soon.

Written so well I was engrossed. I would have liked to see it extended farther, but it was realistic enough that I could imagine knowing the characters.

    From Space

Parker Owens commented on Mikiesboy's story chapter in From Space

An alien who likes Labatt’s? Why not? Or who wants a Furby? I’m still laughing. I love the way you take thus mind boggling experience, and then make it seem so...easy. But what’s Tom going to tell Peter?

This is a sweet story, with a very real flavor. Pay attention; you’ll see and hear everything.

Everyone deserves friends who will stand up for them. This story recounts such an instance. It’s cogent and just as current as when it posted.
