Your poem is a feast for the senses! I could easily imagine myself in place of the narrator. An old cliche, "stop and smell the roses," comes to mind. In today's world we are often too busy to take a moment to see and enjoy the things around us. Thanks for this reminder. Nicely done!

I just adore Eric and his grumbly ways! It seems like older characters are fewer and far between in gay fiction. Since I am closer to his age than to many of the younger characters I read about, I think I paid even closer attention. Fortunately, retirement has not been the financial pinch for me like it has been for Eric. More importantly, I have a daughter, a sister and brother-in-law, and amazingly, my eighty-eight year old mother. So, unlike Eric I have family and won't be totally on my own. I also really like Andy and Adam! I have enjoyed watching the relationship of the three men grow and change. Andy and Eric have been good for each other. Thank you for this wonderful story! I am sorry to say goodbye to Eric for now. I look forward to more of his story later. I especially want to see how the students re-do his garden!

Wow! I have just started reading. For some reason I want to say this feels like a cautionary tale. Dad's warning about temporary things is often true and a bit disconcerting. I am not deeply religious, and the Pastor gives me the creeps already. Just some random thoughts as I finished this chapter. There are a few more chapters to read before I am caught up. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next. I think I'm going to really like this story. Thanks.

I know there is a pecking order in the military, and from a family experience I know they take it quite seriously. I was disappointed that Lewis was a total dick to the able seaman. He was on the submarine as a civilian, or so I thought. Maybe being on medical leave doesn't turn you into a civilian. It seems like Lewis uses his rank some of the time and other times not. In spite of this comment I am really enjoying this story! Now that Lewis is out of the fray, I can't wait to see how you get him back in it. Thanks.
