Hi, all. Very occasional lurker here. 👋 😄 I think you're right, Gary. Far too many people have seen social media posts of pets and think, 'That's for me. I want one' without any consideration as to the consequences. Once something like full working returns here in the UK (whatever that's going to look like), there'll be a rush of abandoned pets, I'm sure. In a way, that's almost preferable to cats and dogs being left, locked up, in small houses and flats all day. Pets aren't playthings. 🐕

As much as I loved your usual masterclass in dialogue, I couldn't quite suspend my disbelief. Maybe it's the cynic in me. 😉 The conversation ebbed and flowed beautifully and yet... Fairy tales aren't for me perhaps? 😄

Hi, @Naomi 🖐 Everyone is welcome here. You will find most of the stories are aimed at gay men though. To see which stories have 'lesbian' as a story tag, go to the Stories page, look down the RH side until you see the heading Browse. Choose Genres and Tags. In the tag listing that follows, tick the one that says Lesbian. You would be welcome to post any stories you have (assuming they meet site guidelines). The Help topics are the place to go. Try this one first: I've no direct experience of other sites for posting lesbian fiction. Intriguing story. Strong echoes of John Wyndham for me, though with added humanity and empathy. Rural highland Scotland and Eastern belief systems made for a very different flavour of story. One which held my attention - very much so. This is a story which will bear rereading. Thank you.

Bravo! I join Gary in chuckling aloud at the middle offering. The snorts were particularly loud at 'I danced the briefest tarantelle' - such a perfect description of that nanosecond before the inevitable. Aren't we mean? Nature nearly always returns to love in your poetry and it gladdens my heart. 'Upon white whimsied drifts has nature writ;' is a wonderful line, suggesting those drifts somehow and giving such pleasure in its speaking.

Way back machine is a function of the internet archive. It's nothing to do with this site or any individual. Snapshots of various sites have been taken throughout the years - they're searchable and usable. That's probably your best bet.

I never like to impose my view of a character on a reader. And I'm not a great fan of authors who, as you say, feel obliged to 'tell' every single aspect. Thanks for reading.

Justin has learnt not to expect a connection when he escorts older men. An evening promising modern ballet doesn't seem a likely candidate to buck the trend.

What a fascinating character study contained within a story which drip-fed information only as and when the author wanted it to be known. I imagine there are still many people out there who prefer their 'hunt' for a sexual partner to be real, not virtual.

An unsettling ending to an unsettling but very real-life tale. How many kids are subject to upbringings like that? Magpies are an excellent way of both driving and anchoring the piece. It may be not your usual style but it is good. Very, very good.
