Don't forget there's much more to come ... No comment on the content though.

That's being a little tough on her, I think. But she's definitely on the hunt for gossip. For some people, it's part of their existence. It gives their life colour and interest ... Hmm.
-
Yet, she didn't wait for an answer to any of her questions. She's neither black nor white, I think. Despite her talk of friends, maybe she's lonely as well? Eric's not the sort to respond well to multiple questions from a woman he only knows in passing.

Eric has acknowledged his prejudices against Adam. I think his main concern at the moment is how Adam will react when he visits the cottage. Adam, I suspect, is too polite to say or do anything to antagonise Eric. But yes, they need to work on their relationship otherwise Andy will be sort of caught in the middle ...
-
Interesting. I suppose it's inevitable for the moment, while Andy is introducing Eric to so many new things. I think Eric has too independent a spirit to rely excessively on someone else.

Excuse me .... This one is stopping so I can resume another story (Soul Music). I reckon I'm keeping my side of the bargain.
-
Ahh .... Most stories finish sometime and this is one of them. Eric will return ...

On Boxing Day, Andy sat at the kitchen table, only half awake, drinking his coffee and picking at the plate of scrambled eggs on toast that Adam had just given him. God, he was still stuffed from the previous day's feasting despite the walk they'd had after Christmas lunch. The weather had been bad all day – rain and strong winds – however they'd all felt the need to leave Adam's father to sleep in the living room. Or rather, sleep off some of the booze he'd drunk. It wasn't the first time h

@wildone Steve, why don't you offer to do a full week's blogs? That way @Cia would sorta get a week off ... It would be interesting for you. Challenging ...
-
Tim, if your muse decides that prompt is what they're interested in, who are you to argue? It's getting you writing. Isn't that the main thing?
-
You're doing fine, Steve. There's only so much you can do with a bunch of links.
-
And it makes his day. From being a day when even less than usual happens, it is turned into one where his new friendships come into their own.
-
Yes, there's nothing worse for someone like Eric to have a young man saying, "You do this, this ,and then this." without stopping. Brian is a much better bet.
-
You had me worried, Steve, when a notification popped up saying you'd mentioned me. What had I done, or not done? In fact, it's Carlos who deserves the honourable mention for writing a prompt. I was merely moaning how difficult I was finding writing my current response. Phew ...

@droughtquake I find your comments an education, drought. Thank you.
-
This made my day, dugh. Thank you so much. Christmas loneliness is particularly cruel.
-
Yes, the cards are tangible evidence of his friends. And the phone calls were so unexpected. To him, at least.
-
I feel for you, drought. Being on your own on Christmas Day is a weird feeling - I've been there. But I knew we were having celebrations later in the New Year. Being entirely, utterly on your own is so sad.
-
Thanks! It is that sort of feel-good chapter.
-
Thank you! I hope by the time you read this, you'll have seen some light along Eric's journey.
-
Short and sweet. Short and touching. Thanks!

Eric lay in bed, listening to the distant sound of church bells greeting the morning. Christmas Day wasn't anything special as far as he was concerned. In fact, in a way, he thought it was likely to be worse this year. In the past, he'd had no friends, or plans, or hope even. The day had always been just another one to be got through, without even the shops or the library to go to. This Christmas, somehow, he felt more lonely because he had friends. The old man frowned and shook his head as he t
