But the situation is tense, Dozi and Illya with little sleep have joined the larger resisting crowd. Tchama is joining soon. It is a self-described powder keg ready to blow. Just one too angry person on one side could unleash a spark by hitting someone on the other side and start the fighting. It would be surprising if the calm prevailed for long. The destruction of the messiah warehouse has provoked the messiahs.

I was so apprehensive about the will reading and you threaded the needle and developed a great argument with George the winner and his father and brother the sore losers. I see no basis for a winning opposing court case. The King will not favor those bringing the case. Yes, Caden is clueless. He ignores the oddities in his new situation . His backround ingrained a way of acting toward also others and seeing reality. He must not have read fantasy books or seen supernatural movies. He is facing a refreshed vampire who is now taking care of his food source in a friendly, helpful environment for him. The cave and nearby water fall sounds perfect for a vampire who has to avoid daylight. With Caden around, the vampire does not have to leave the island for a very long time. It will be fascinating to see how they adjust to each other. Caden is likely going to freak out at some point and not stabilize until he realizes he has no choice. We will learn if the vampire has a compulsion power and if he gives Caden an orgasmic high of addicting pleasure when he sucks out his blood. It will be very difficult for the vampire to want to leave the protecting environment of the island unless he feels a need to get vengeance on those who send him to his death on the island. Let us see what bargains Caden and the vampire make. Will others come searching to Caden?

So the main Messian warehouse was destroyed. No living beings were killed. It is an inconvenience at the time. Vion has been called to report to the Principal Messiah. I assume he will be tasked with getting retribution. His attack should result in deaths of many shifts. Then shifts have set up a guard force and might be a tough opponent this time.

S'Kay and the other two are going to destroy an old warehouse. Thy intend to make the messiahs mad since they use it in some way. Without any messiahs around, it will be safe to attack the warehouse. But they do not know if dangerous items are stored within the warehouse . Danger and death could be released unwittingly. As a minimum, the destruction could make the messiahs more willing to attack shifts again.

The start of the meeting has been rocky. They should have plenty of things to discuss and act upon--like grant requests. A $ 2 billion foundation has to give away at least $100 million a year. There should be several matters on the board agenda , including deciding on financial awards for non-profits. If the situation is too tense, they can defer action until the next board meeting. If August did have a baby with Rusty, she may not want to share him with Rusty. She might not think he is the stable, one-woman guy. If August was Rusty's first sustained love, she has to have a special meaning to him. The sex would have been fabulous, intense, repeated, experimental, educational and on any spot or location they wanted. She would have loved the Mighty Thor. Rusty thought she knew him well. I hope they did not create a baby. It might have torn apart their marriage. A baby Rusty will really destabilize Rusty now, if August wants him to assume some responsibility. I hope even without a baby involved, that August is a friend and not an adversary in college.

Rusty and a married August with a husband away on work had sex over a summer while he was in high school. The shifts will need to be prepared for a major attack.

Stef needs to rethink the board composition. People voted against him and did not accept his reasoning. I would expect the main donor ( did Brad add funds too ? ) would have his views on a critical matter supported. If a board member is not a team player and thinks differently , then he or she should resign. One matter is settled, but the board must have more items on the agenda. Are they collegial enough after this rough debate to proceed and make grant decisions or should they set a new date for a follow-up board meeting?

The broad community outpouring of support to help individuals recover and repair the damages from the attack is so encouraging. Many volunteered to protect and guard their living areas from attacks. Dozi and Illya are actively helping others and ended the day very tired. However, it sounds like a great explosion will shock the area even more. I hope they can keep their sanity in this chaos. Meanwhile, what have S"Kay and the other bioshifts done or planning to do soon on their plan to get revenge and kill more messiahs? The messiahs will be ready to fight them if they are discovered.

What an unexpectedly turbulent board meeting. Claire made the right decision for the right reason. Craig would be ineffective as a leader based on the report. He and the staff would suffer. The board members that did not see how troubled his tenure has been based on interviews need to be replaced as soon as possible. Their judgment is weak. Craig running the foundation as his fiefdom without staff input on proposals is not giving the board the best, unbiased information on grantmaking matters. He could be playing favorites with applicants . When Craig leaves, more criticisms from the staff and community leaders, and applicants can be expected. BTW, Evelyn's abstention reflects poorly on her. She did not ask questions so as to be in a position to vote. Robbie's poor leadership of her company should have told her that keeping people in the dark and showing a lack of confidence in them was poisonous. An interim executive is needed to be selected. Stef can do it. It may be hard to appoint Jake as the new head at this point since some raw nerves had been exposed,

Caden goes from hoping he found a person who could help him survive to being shocked seeing a thin, unnatural purple eyed, gray skinned, tattered clothed creature who he thought must be a fearsome zombie. Caden ran away fast but fell down a cliff and hit his head against a rock . As he began to lose consciousness, he sensed the creature over him. We know from the title that Caden has found a vampire. It appears he has been stranded on the island longer than Caden for his clothes to wear out and must be hungry for human blood. I do not think he will kill Caden. He needs him and should drink enough blood to revive himself while letting Caden live to be an ongoing food source for him. The vampire whose name we might learn soon will need to calm Caden down and should help Caden find his own food sources. I am interested on finding out why the vampire is on the island, what his personality is like and what his special powers are. Can he compel Caden to do his bidding? Can he live in sunlight ? How will Caden and the vampire get along? Can they find a way to escape the island?

They had a glorious, love filled last year in high school. They had great sex and no one knew their secret. They separated and then ..... Something happened and I assume from the intro, they fell apart--by action or inaction. I hope we find out soon. Was it a big misunderstnding?

The unholy three shifts are intending to attack the messiahs again in retribution for the killings and fires in Gate Town. S'Kay is the aggressive ringleader. But, they may be in trouble. They have not gained any followers to aid their attacks so far. The messiahs are on alert and will be looking for three shifts with distinctive ways of killing. Will the three trip up and be found out while still causing many more deaths? Perhaps if at least S'Kay is stopped, the killing cycle might end.

I do not trust the cat. Humans exist to serve them and are expendable. Beckett is in real trouble. All is not what it seems to be I am sure !

Gruesome--utterly gruesome could best describe the vicious, malevolent attacks by Vion and the other messiahs. They were invincible and showed they enjoyed the death and destruction they caused. No one could stop them. They did not face organized shift opposition. They burned Gate Town. However they learned that the killers of the messiahs were not found. They will have to go out and kill more humans and shifts. I bet it gives Vion and others great pleasure killing. I hope the shifts retaliate. At least our four real messiah killers could fight back soon.

A Trevor/Randy match sounds interesting. They have things in common like loving great sex, being active physically and sharing warm chemistry with a new companionship--just weeks old. They do have some differences. Trevor is a shifter destined for leadership. He also has a year left in grad school in Boston--far away from Burney, CA. While Randy has said in Chapter 8 --" I work at one of the lumber mills and like what I do. Of course, maybe I could have gotten a job with the power company or someday moved up into management if I’d gone to college. Kinda seems like more hassle than it’s worth.” If Trevor realizes they are mates, he is the kind of person who will make things happen. I think Randy has potential.

When the dust settles and the next steps can be considered, the Pack should be getting both physical and financial retribution Could Aiden and Ethan later be involved in seeking retribution on the McKinney's ? They could add almost nuclear firepower. Whatever is done after the assassination attempt should cause the McKinney's to never try such an attack again. I am thinking awesome firepower shock and awe.
