Yay ! A short story with a proposal and a happily ever after (very likely for Ben and Cam) !

D-mn ! I didn't have a hobby that I was passionate about in my youth ! I missed all the fun ... Now I'm at an age where dementia is setting in (early start for me ) and childhood memories are very fuzzy unless my sister and cousins who share those with me talk about them. In our summer vacation my father would drive us (siblings and cousins) to the country club (in which my grandfather was a member) on Sundays. We'd visit the stables after lunch to see the horses who had retired from racing ... All this is sort of second hand information gleaned from my relatives as I really have very hazy recollection of these events. (All this took place in Hong Kong) I did try to learn to ride during my last two years of secondary school (high school). Riding lessons were offered as part of the extracurricular activities organised by the boarding school I was attending (in England). Being really non athletic, I was thrown from my horse as it tried to catch up to the others trotting away; well it was my first lesson. I landed head first on the ground but was unscathed as all students were required to wear protective head gear whilst on horseback. I got back up on my horse and returned with the group to the stables. I have never been on a horseback since that day ...

The terrible things that we do to each other in the name of religion(s) or national interests ... I remembered that day really well and was horrified even as I was watching the events unfolding from thousands of miles away ... Couldn't begin to imagine the pain and suffering that real people involved at ground zero went through ...

I'm re-reading this as a pre-Christmas treat to myself ... It is still as gut wrenching, moving and heart warming as the first time that I've read it ! Thank you, Gary ! Yay ! Happily ever after for Darren and Elliott ! If Wally hadn't been killed, most probably by, Santa, I'd plan a slow and lingering death for him ... Anyway, good riddance ... I've actually had my first taste of sweetbreads in Toronto, more than twenty years ago ! It was at a very nice restaurant on Yonge Street just north of Sheppard Avenue. At that time the server did advise me that the dish was offal but I took the challenge, ordered it and ate it. For the longest time I thought sweetbreads was calf's brain, but I've been corrected in the last couple of years; when a friend ordered it a few times at some really upscale French restaurants. So gentle readers, this is in fact a delicacy ! Oh well, one man's meat is another's ...

By the end of the chapter "Misery" most of us are giving you kisses and hugs ... Hmm ... what are those pitchforks and unlit torches doing over there, I wonder ?

P.s. Thank you for the detailed description of the dogs; are Malamutes really less bright than the other breeds ? They look so fluffily big and adorable ! Your meticulous research leaves us in awe once again !

Now I feel really BAD because I ducked out of volunteering work today because I'd forgotten about it and made work commitments at the same time slot ... I feel terrible right now ...

I think whoever wrote this recipe should bake some English Toffee for the reader who has made the correct guess and the recipient(s) of these lovely treats should share them with the rest of us !

What exactly happens in The Pendleton Omens ? I shudder at the thought ... :scream: Anyway, Harry was patient and sweet with Perry, his actions actually elevate him in my estimation. I don't think Harry had taken advantage of the boy, as you said, Perry could have left at any point. Could one actually be a "sexual" mentor to another person ? What do you mean this is the sweetest chapter of the book and it gets balanced later on ?! Just when I thought it would be okay to continue reading about Harry ... I DEMAND to know what will happen ! (saying pretty please a thousand times ...) Thank you Rich !

Making Kiorl work hard sounds good ! Lahja, go make him suffer ! Go Gurl ! Am I being judgemental ? Sure as hell I am ! Am I being unfair ? Hell no ! I detest WHAT Kiorl does totally (seducing poor people and then killing them and plundering their souls) AND I dislike his arrogant attitude (I'm a major demon second only to ... etc). Make him suffer ! Yeah ! Whoops, have I been ranting ?

That warning should have been : Proceed with extreme caution if you don't want your mind to be blown away by an explosion of sexual and emotional release ! True colours indeed ! Well Kellar will always be a healer, even in throes of passionate sex he's so concerned with Tobyn's well being that he has to apply some energy to mitigate the pain ... he's a sly one, Kellar ! I hope that Tobyn will still get to see the colours whenever he's extremely excited (or in a less ideal situation under extreme duress) and this is not a one off gift from the Earth Mother ...
