May I offer a more charitable view of Zane's mother's behaviour, at least when she agreed to his emancipation ? Maybe she feels that both of them were unhappy living under the same roof so that it would be better to set him "free". I'd hate to think Zane would have no relationship with his family further down the road ... He was trying to build bridges to connect with his father before the latter's suicide, so obviously he cared for his family. I would've so easily screamed and shouted at Stan for hurting his family further by killing himself; BUT that would be as bad as blaming patients with mental illnesses for their own predicament ... There is real stigma to being mentally ill (over here) even people suffering from depression are told to buck up and get over it (I've seen it happening) ... Sometimes when medication isn't working, it will be trying times for the patient and those people around ... empathy and compassion are sometimes sorely lacking ... Whoops Anyways, Cynus, thank you so much for this sweet (with ever so slight bitter aftertaste) ending to this story. I wish every happiness and good fortune to Clint and Zane !

And yes, he should feel slightly "sheepish" (is this right sentiment?) for rejecting Nick but went out of his way to hook up with Kurt. Yes, IF you remember your first time fondly, then the "what ifs" would drive you to look for him, even if it is really a very slim chance that he would be "the one" ... I really hope that Harry wouldn't have to go through 17 guys before he meets someone to fall in love with, but this is your story and I'll just have to wait and see ... Without reading this discussion thread, I have liked the ending of the story anyway. Reading your explanation, l feel for it even more ... Sometimes life is just incredibly sad and frustrating and I'm glad that in Weightless, Zane at least have one love and many friends to help him / carry him through the darker parts. Now every time I re-read the stories (l will be honest and say that I'll re-read Fearless more often), I'll have "Zane" in my thoughts and wish him well, wherever he is ... Letting go and forgiving (oneself or other people) has never been easy for me, I'll try using your example ... Hmm ... let me compose my thoughts and write a chapter review befitting of the last chapter ! Thank you Cynus !

Dear Madam Puppilull, Thank you ! This is the longest story amongst the list for the Fall Anthologies (assuming 3 = Fall); but I chose to read it as soon as I saw one of the tags - lighthearted. Comic relief is exactly what I needed at this time; and you delivered those in spades, with the antics of both Ruben and Perry. I would like to explain / elaborate on my review of Chapter 8 of the latest book. I wrote the review at 4am in the morning, when I was emotionally most vulnerable; at that moment when I thought the the world had gone mad with its fear, hate and bigotry, I was looking for solace in my only escape, in another world that somebody had created. Normally I'm smart enough to shy away from stories / scenes that would upset me, but the previous chapter had been so sweet, so I was NOT prepared for how chapter 8 ended. I will try to restrain myself in the future and read only what I could handle. I apologise if I've rubbed any fur the wrong way, however I had to be honest with my reaction, albeit I should have done it in a more respectful / sensitive manner ... Any suggestions for an uplifting / romantic story with a happy ending ? Still fragile at the moment ...
