Corey finally decided to "walk down another path" with Adrian. His father had been so wise to tell him that ".. you've already made a decision ... you just don't know how to tell Brett" Matters of the heart are seldom simple and straight forward, the choices we make may yet come back to haunt us. @Graeme I think you're giving more credit than it is due to the Reverend Baker, in terms of whether he had any common decency in his bones, but then you may be right, we should always hope that there's a spark of humanity left inside of the "monsters" in our midst.

Even after reading this chapter for the N th time, as well as all your comments; I still cannot figure out the motive or reason for Mrs Weaver's angry words to Corey ... But as his father told him in Chapter 9, Brett's mother shouldn't make Corey feel that the situation as it stood was his fault, Brett had hurt Corey and whilst things could've been handled better, the old adage "it takes two to tango" still holds true ... Corey should have a heart to heart conversation with Brett BUT in his own time. The poor performance at the game was mostly Brett's fault, he had broken up with Corey but still couldn't let him go entirely; as his reaction to the kiss between Corey and Adrian showed, he didn't see Corey as ONLY his best friend. If he couldn't reign in his emotions to play a better game, then it would be his own fault. HOWEVER, we must remember that both of them were teenagers dealing with their first breakup, so we should be more understanding the way they'd acted and the mistakes that they might have made.

I am one of the die hard / hardcore / fanatical romantics on GA; so a story about redemption is ALWAYS a special treat for me. I believe everyone should be given a second chance and have a go at finding their happily ever after ... Thank you WolfM !

The cruelties of war ... One of the reasons that Bailey's father moved the family was precisely the one that had him recoiling from Justin's touch; he had been bullied at his previous school. His "massive trust issues" stemmed from the abuse he suffered from his peers, obviously without the support from his father his condition had worsened (instead of improving) ... my heart is bleeding for him and I'm horrified by his self harming episodes. This is a very difficult chapter to read through ...

Liam, just remember to tell Nathan that he was and would be a great friend ... I don't think you've told him yet ... Great job Liam, your love life should never be your only priority in your everyday ! Great chapter LitLover !

Talk about a reluctant leader, would Kellar make a better alpha because he didn't crave this position of power ?... Tobyn showed what an awesome mate he was to Kellar; he was understanding, patient, kind and insightful as well ... supporting his mate in his decisions, giving him time to think about his choices, being by his side through his ups and downs and even offering advice on healing procedures ... You rock man / wolf ! Familial bonds were strong enough to override the instincts of the wolf, OR Fendral was a strong enough man to control his animalistic urges to run ... giving the two of them a chance to connect ... the desperate pleas of Kellar melted my heart ...

Both Maria AND Julie had no filter. For Maria it was sweet and frustrating at times for the adults around her. Well, for Miss Julie, she'd be excused for her "verbal diarrhoea" as she seemed to be clairvoyant or at the very least a uber observant people watcher ... BUT my bet is she had visions or premonitions of the future ... Am I the only one to feel weird reading about Christmas when we're gearing up for summer ? Oh never mind, I could always re-read the whole story in 6 months time ...

Apologies for not commenting earlier on this chapter ... I'm sorry to hear about the unhappy past of Raymond's youth BUT both Uncle Joe and Aunt Mellie filled up in spades, the role of parents for him. The older couple were so kind and compassionate that I couldn't help but respect them more. SO, basically Raymond would be for all intents and purposes, Jeff's older cousin (de facto son of Joe and Mellie) rather than an uncle; there would only be an age gap of 8 or 9 years between him and Jeff (as well as Daniel). I've always felt that the leaders of any kind of organised religion (large or small group), would only inspire their followers by their own innate goodness or inadequacies. If he / she is already a kind, compassionate, understanding person to begin with, then he / she would inspire their followers by emphasising those tenets and the converse is also true - bigotry also begets the same. Danny came away from that first kiss worse off and suffered a lonesome heart for a long time, however I feel the timing was not right those 10 or so years ago for the two of them to be involved romantically, so all had worked out for the best, so far ... Hmm, sex before the first date, I'm scandalised !!

It's been mentioned in a previous chapter that Charlie noted Corey was following Brett around like a puppy ... all of your insights made me realise that Corey had been so focused / obsessed with Brett that he had neglected other people to his own detriment ... Thank you @Ronyx for such a fine tale ! Thank you for all your comments especially @Graeme so that I understand the whole picture more !

I'm surprised that Coach Davis was the only one who'd noted that it was a breakup between Corey and Brett. Had he been more astute in his observations or did he misread the dynamics between the two ? I still think that Brett had led Corey on far too long ... As for the part about Brett figuring it out ... you all have to wait till the end to comment on this ...
