I wanna see more of Finn That boy deserves a hickey of his own! Good to see Mikey giving back some of what he has received. Mind you, I suspect he's going to need Jay's help threading his needle in that class but that's great justification for them getting real close........

    Thanks Tim. Appreciate the comment.

    Lost and Found

I agree with mayday and Daveh. Look forward to the next chapter.
  4. Some memories are like wine and improve with time; others unfortunately can be more like milk. A good wine deserves to be shared with friends; sour milk is only for the drain. Appreciate the comments Geron, but I don't see this as any more than a stand alone story. Ivor.
  5. LOL. Was it plimsolls or sandals for you? Glad it brought back some memories and thanks for commenting.
  6. Sorry it brought tears as it wasn't intended to be a sad story, just a look back to past, simpler, times. Thanks for the comments bubby - appreciated.
  7. Thanks CG! Perhaps because that was when I grew up I am able to convey a feeling of life at that time. To make it clear though, Alan is not me. :-)
  8. This was indeed set in the 50s when Britain was a grey, cold, place. Still recovering from the war and still with rationing. Very different to the US. Which is not to say that kids weren't happy - they didn't know anything else and made their own amusements spending a lot of time outside. The changes came about in the 60s when more money was around and the US influence grew. Am glad you liked this little glimpse of and 'unknown time'. Thanks for commenting
  9. The School Trip I’d brought the note home from school and given it to Mum like I always did. I wasn’t worried when I gave it her ‘cos I knew I’d not done anything bad at school so I didn’t have to worry she’d get angry when she read it. Teacher had told us what it was about anyway – she were organising a trip for my form and the other one of the same year. It were getting near the end of the school year and this year was the last one we was all going to be there. We’d done the 11+ ex
  10. A story inspired by Prompt 584
  11. Chris & Steve are learning lots about themselves and their new 'profession' and surely couldn't find a better teacher than Debbi. Come to that I'm learning lots of things too - as Droughtquake says, there are so many delicious little gold nuggets sprinkled throughout the story. At the end I was left with a smile on my face, rather like Dumbo, although I wasn't sprinkling water at the time. A cannon and a flying saucer? Bring 'em on, Geron!

Thanks CG. There are always plenty of cats out there that need a good home and the same applies to dogs of course. What you did with Kublai was well rewarded.

Seems I can't reply to individual comments these days, so thank to droughtquake, northie and Geron for their appreciation of this story. There was an element of fact in that 'Fang' did exist and was found living under a portakabin, but a large part of the rest was fiction.

Guess I’d been pretty lucky to land what looked like a fairly decent job straight from Uni. I’d graduated from Nottingham in the summer with a BSc in Accountancy and managed to find a job with a firm of Accountants in a small town in the Midlands. I knew quite a few of my contemporaries hadn’t been so lucky and were either still looking for work or had resorted to taking on something they didn’t really want to do. Perhaps the fact that I’d managed a decent degree had helped – maybe in the end, a

On leaving University Amanda finds a position with a firm of Accountants that necessitates her moving to a new town. The move proves to have unexpected consequences.

    Chapter 1

Thanks, Wenmale! Am pleased to hear you liked this story. Wayne' journey was rather tougher than the one faced by Geron's characters, but they all came through it. Must confess I do like happy endings too.
  18. This story had definite lift off :-)

    New Growth

I agree with Wesley - another great chapter. Not only do I admire the relationships that are developing between your characters, I'm also struck by some very clever word play such as 'rouse' and 'arouse' which help make these stories stand out.

A very heartfelt and impressive tribute.
  21. Much enjoyed the story which left me wanting to know more, but then I don't like to be left hanging...........

    Chapter 1

What happened to Ben in the locker room did seem unbelievable, but I was prepared to go along with it as being 'artistic licence' for the sake of the story - which I reckoned was pretty good.

    Chapter 1

You just can't help loving Jesse & Marty and being somewhat envious of the love they have found with each other. Plus which they've got love to spare for others coupled with the desire to help others to also find the sort of love they share. All of this beautifully gift wrapped for the reader to enjoy within enviable prose. Thanks for sharing these two Geron.
  25. Yep, Jayden got paid back but I guess he hadn't expected Trent's bubble to burst in quite that way :-) Things could certainly develop further with this trio now that Trent has discovered something about himself he hadn't realised existed until now. Appreciate the review Geron.
