I, myself, am familiar with that issue...

In my ongoing pursuit to bury myself in an avalanche of books, I picked up this gem. This is like a jack-of-all-trades toolbox. It has Character Traits, Character Names, plot ideas, action words, descriptive words, plot twist ideas, and a lot more. It is exactly the sort of thing you'd reach for when you're stuck and you want an idea. Or if you are horrible with names, picking a name from a list. Or maybe you want to spice something up. Or you want a prompt. I flagged a bunch of parts of the book and this will be on my reference shelf for when I need it. I definitely recommend it.

That one is still primarily intended for forums and not stories. But now if it's used on a story, it won't have a passive-aggressive connotation to it. Check it Out! is a stronger version of like it that case. The intended use case is if you are skimming through a lot of posts and think one's worth reading deeper in. Reactions are not searchable and unlikely to be given the system structure. I didn't like it either, but it was user suggested AND voted on to give it a try. Now we've moved on because of the unintended on the staff's part connotations. Not sure on the original suggester. Years blend together doing this coming up on 19 years.

I fixed the default blown out look of the like icon, if you saw that early on. It now appears simply grayed out if you haven't reacted yet.

Pretty standard for 70's era Hollywood. Way better than the woke nonsense of 2020's, which the new 2019 didn't have. Thank God.

This is a good movie that suffers from the comparison problem. It's a pretty high bar for those interested in world war II movies to leap over the original 1976 Midway. The original had Charlton Heston, Henry Fonda, Glenn Ford, Robert Michum, Robert Wagner amount others. The ensemble cast was a who's who of Hollywood legends. So, set that aside if you, like me, grew up with your dad watching the movie. The 2019 movie was well paced. The cast clicked pretty good. And Dennis Quaid and Woody Harrelson have really grown in their craft over the years. They both have a history of goofy comedic roles. It was nice to see them both in serious roles here. And I thought they both pulled it off. The movie did a good job of stressing just how important this battle was in WW II. The special effects were good too. I enjoyed it and will keep it in my movie library.

@weinerdog Book 3 chapter 1 posts same time tomorrow. There are 18 Chapters. Book 4 follows. There are 28 chapters there. Then all the stuff I have that I'm allowed to post shall be on the site.

I am on a bit of a roll this past weekend. I managed to get through a couple of things in my backlog stack of many things. I picked this up and it was a quick, easy read. I'm old fashioned, surprisingly, as I still love the feel of paper and a bookshelf I can go do when the power's out, so I have this in paperback. I also put a lot of Post-it Flags on various pages of interest. This book talks about a topic and then shows how it is done in a handful of movies that you have probably seen. There are also handy little exercises at the end of each chapter that I think would genuinely help. I've held the book off to the side so that I can give this a whirl on two of my writing projects. If you are a "seat of your pantser" writer, this approach might help with outlining. I'm going to give it a try. It's worth a read.

I finally beat the main game and have all the achievements. I've started the DLC, of which there are 3. Unfortunately, DLC 1, the New God, takes the worst parts of the main game and focuses on them completely. To me at least. I hate timed things a LOT. Especially timed things where if you mess up, you fall to your death and have to start again. The main game had a fair few of those, but the worst of them were optional. Not so with DLC 1. DLC 1 is focused totally on that crap. *sighs*

So, I tend to do this naturally, as most writers in Fantasy and Science Fiction would. If you spend the time building a world, you want more than one story in it. It's only natural to do the same with contemporary stories and it's always a little delight for the reader when it happens. Not too dissimilar to the delight you experience when Spider-Man shows up in Captain America Civil War.

The Story Archive will automatically update the status of a story based on how long it has been since it posted and if the author doesn't visit the site. Since you haven't been approved yet from the queue, the system considers it over that time requirement. Once you didn't visit the site during the required time, it updated the status to Temporary Hold. You can change it when it is out of the queue.
